I understand how you can expose data in a database (with access to mysql) in Odate in order to create a program in VB.NET and connect to these data with a service.
the purpose of all this is to create a software to display data, and dynamically modify the data remotely.
I am trying to create a combo box that would display data from a dataset, and also a 'Please Select' as the first item. I have written the following code which derives from a combo box and it works fine in visual studio 2003 but in 2008 would not display the comboboxtext (which is 'Please select').
Public Class DoubleDataSourceCombo Inherits ComboBox Dim myDataTable As DataTable
I'm having a bit of trouble showing the data from my access DB within my application. I am using a DataGridView to display the data. Whenever I click the button I have made to display the data.the table remains blank. I am trying to avoid using the designers in VS2010 as this is for A-level coursework and i wont get any marks.
I have a VB app and it has a login feature installed. Now when someone logs in into the app I want the users First Name and Last Name to be displayed on my second form where the user gets redirected on a sucesfull login. I don't know how to accomplish this as I am quite new to VB. I have provided my login code below (btw it uses an online database):
MySqlConnection = New MySqlConnection MySqlConnection.ConnectionString = "server=;Port=; user id=; password=; database=" MySqlConnection.Open()
[Code].....
I think the code which provides the first name and last name need to check the users username which was provided on the first form and search through the DB. Then when it has found the record it should recieve the First Name and Last name.
I like to make a data grid that get data from a .csv and display on the table (note all the data is separated by ",") but I have no idea how to do this.
I'm currently working on a Capstone Point of Sales project. We're using a multi-column list box to pull up the item #, Item Name, Quantity(may be deleted) and Price. However, I haven't had much experience with a connect database in Visual Basic. how to pull and display the data from the database into the list box?
Any code for creating the pallet for a Gray scale image, to display it on a picture box? I have written the code for creating for palette for a RGB image which is as follows:
Marshal.Copy(Image_bufffer, 0, _pImg, 1024 * 1024) myBMP = New Bitmap(1024, 1024, 1024, System.Drawing.Imaging.PixelFormat.Format8bppIndexed, _pImg) pal = myBMP.Palette For i As Integer = 0 To pal.Entries.Length - 1 pal.Entries(i) = Color.FromArgb(255, i, i, i) Next myBMP.Palette = pal Picturebox1.Image = myBMP 'Show the image
But the image displayed looks dull(less brightness) than the same image viewed from ImageJ. So instead of creating pallet from color.Argb, is there any way to create palette for a gray scale image?
I have a SQL stored procedure that I bind to a Silverlight Datagrid. That works ok, the problem is when I use the same stored procedure to bind a different dataset to the same grid, it doesn't display the new data, only empty columns from the last dataset that was bound. What is going on here? I tried to set the grid = Nothing and I tried using Datagrid1.columns.clear() but that didn't work.
I'm currently learning VB.net and can confidently connect to databases and return results to comboboxes run stored procedures ect to datagrids, However I'm wanting to find an online tutorial for doing loops with data so for example
I want to display each element on a page in a structured format so as to make a visual representation in seperate entities (labels maybe) of the data like so:
Order number
line 1 (includes item and price in plain text on a page i guess using a label) line 2 (same goes)
Subtotal( )
The results and formulae i can do but it's simply how to split off the data from my dataset and display elements as seperates (also how will i dynamically create the lables as obviously i'm not going to know in advance how many order item rows will return )
Obviously this is not urgent but if anyone could point me at a tutorial or even better a few lines of code that will do this for the microsoft northwind data so i can mess about with it and play.
I'm been searching for a while for a way to create a vb 2010 program that automatically checks and compare the files you have at a specific location in your hard drive and backup/update them securely though a vpn when a button is clicked.
I am wanting to create a registration algorithm for my applications. I would like to generate a number/value from the users hardware/os data and then use that to create a key.
I've been into programming, I've landed a job with a local company, the entire project the gentleman is paying me to do is incredibly easy, with one hitch, the original project I'm converting is built using access databases, for efficiency, and easier online transfer, I'm wanting to switch to using an SQL database, I've got plenty of experience inserting, modifying, and controlling an access database, but where should I start to learn how to essentially set up, create tables, and modify data within an SQL database?
I have been reading about ADO, SQL, datasets, data adapters etc and have gone into information overload. My next step is to create a simple data file of my own that I can manipulate, update, sort etc in VB Express. Do I need another piece of software? I read about MySQL, which I understand is primarily used to access databases on the net, but can that be used to create a simple local data file on my PC? Can you simply hard code something in VB Express?
I have a bunch of Excel files full of research data. Everything is strait forward: rows of research categories and columns of research parameters. I want to create a simple search form that allows opening any of the spread sheets that contains the type of data that I specify. For example, I would choose a parameter
QuoteI would like to display my password from database (MS Access)into datagrid but in invisible. Below is my coding retrieve data from database, but my password is visible,
I have just started with vb and would like to know if there is a way to input several boxes of data on one form and display individual pieces of that data on several other forms at timed events in the future?
I just want to display data in a DataGridView (from SQL - already made the connection) based on what is selected in a ComboBox (data that is also coming from SQL). The 2 are separete on the form. I am using VB 2010.
This doesn't work for me: objCommand2.CommandText = "SELECT ProductID, Name, Color, Size, ListPrice FROM SalesLT.Product WHERE ProductCategoryID = " & cbCategory.SelectedValue
I have an Address Book project with a listbox. The listbox is bound to the database via the little arrow pop-up box in the corner of the listbox. I have the DisplayMember set to FirstName, and obviously only display the First Name of the contact in the ListBox. Is there an easy way to change it so that it displays the First and Last names? I can't change the binding because I need it to get the ID of the record selected. Here's the basis of my code...
Private Sub MainForm_Load(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load 'TODO: This line of code loads data into the 'CompanyDataSet.Contacts' table. You can move,
I have a data set with a parent child relationship between a patient table and an insurance table. There can be up to 4 insurances for each patient. I want to display them in 4 separate panels of a vb.net form. So if a patient had 2 insurances, then txtName1.text on panel 1 would have the company name of the first insurance, txtName2.text on panel 2 would hold the company name of the second insurance, and so on.
How do I display only the insurances related to the current patient? I've tried moving through the rows of the related table, but that gives me all the rows, not the ones I need. Everything I see on the internet suggest using a datagrid, but that's not an option in this case.
SELECT pkt.fldPackageID, pkt.fldPSID, pkt.fldQuantity, pkt.fldQuantityUsed, pkt.fldRetail, pkt.fldPK, ps.fldName FROM tblPaketRow AS pkt INNER JOIN tblProdukDanService AS ps ON ps.fldID = pkt.fldPSID WHERE (pkt.fldPSID = @param)
I'm trying to display the results in datagridview,i drag from the data source in vs 2008..I can't figure out to do that.I use this code to set the @param on form_load event.
I Want to develop a software like Yed.i just don know where to start.how we can create a workspace where i can drag and drop icons and create connection etc etc.
I have used VB (versions 2 - 6) through many years; however, I am crash-course training myself into the VB2008 / VB2010 world kicking a screaming. I would like suggestions as to what SQL database access method should I focus more on in my learning process without making me feel that I'm a million years behind. I know I have WinForms where I can create a datasourse and drag / drop fields or tables on a form to create a grid (not really what I'm looking for).
My trouble isn't so much designing the form but in how I access the database. Theres XML, LINQ to SQL, ADO.NET, and many other methods. Not only do I need to grasp these methods quickly but I also need to know what type of projects I should create. What I mean is...I was thinking that I would design a WinForm app; however, I see that there are WPF apps and others to chose from. This is getting deep. I know it depends on the project that I'm working on. My plans are to write an app based off of either an SQL Express 2008 or SQL Server 2008 database. This first app will be standalone for now but may later become multi-user. I know I'm far behind on my learning curve coming from VB6. I have read a bit on VB2005 / 2008 / 2010. I own both VB2008 and VB2010. I use VB2008 at work. I know ADO.NET is still alive but by what I read online, it's a dying method and is only kept for backward compatibility. XML and LINQ to SQL and other methods are all pretty new to me.
create and display a help file. It doesnt need any sort of index as its not a very complex programme i basically just need one page which will cover all functions of the application.
I have a project to do for one of my classes that i need help on. Its and extra credit so im left on my own. Project Create a program to allow a student to create there own schedule. what i am trying to do is create a checkedlistbox for the student to check classes they are taking, and need something else to pop up or to show in another box or listbox the classes they can take for the next quarter. I know it has to do with if then statements but i dont know how to write basically:"if (class is checked in checkedlistbox) then ( these are the classes you can take)".
