i have a simple photo viewer application where i want the user to click a "load sequence" button and then i want something like a folderbroswerdialog to appear then the user can pick a folder with images in it then the images get loaded into the picturebox and the user can click a "forward" button to go to the next image in the sequence and a "backward" button to go to the previous image in the sequence, it's kinda like windows 7 photo viewer.

I need to have two pieces of software, made in vb where one encrypts the contents of a .txt file, and the other decrypts it, and then picks one word at random and displays it each time a button is pressed, but never displays the same word. I am writing a program that shows random images in three picture boxes. When I open the program the initial images are in the picture boxes. When I click stop, the program is supposed to select a random image out of five. in each picture box. However, when I click start the images go away and when I click stop, no images appear. There is also a message that is supposed to come up on the screen, which it does. I just can't get the images to show. I am using Visual Basic 2005.

I wish to make a wallpaper changer that can select a random wallpaper from a given directory and sub directories. I'm not asking for code at this point, I'd like a reality check to see how hard this could be. I'm still quite a newbie at VB so I just wanna check if what I'm thinking process wise would work.The basic thing I'd like to do is have it pick one picture out of a given dir and sub dirs. Then set it as the wallpaper. I'd like it to be resized if larger than the desktops resolution to fit inside it, no stretching cropping or stuff.
That's the simple things I'd like it to do. Unfortunately I have dual monitors so it'd have to pick two wallpapers, resize each one independently, stick them together, and then set the wallpaper. I'd also like to make a kind of simple database which would have the name of each pic and two values with it. I'd like a value to mark if it's been used already which would be reset when all pictures have been used. The second would be a simple tag. This way i could have all car wallpapers listed as tag 1 and all non-car wallpapers listed as tag 2. Then I could chose whether to use all or only tagged wallpapers.

The class Random is out right defective. It always produces the same random numbers in the same sequence. Things I have tried so far is every kind of seed you can think of as well as Randomize. The result is that I always get the same random numbers in exactly the same sequence.
View 4 RepliesI am practicing using the drawing commands, and have gotten a grass background and black happy face that moves around the background.It's a 10x10 grid of 50 pixels.I want (at the moment, when i press enter) it to generate a random number of trees (15 ~ 25) at random locations on the background. The program doesn't freak out about anything, and the variables seem to be right (using stop commands) but it's not drawing anything. I was thinking to make an app to save images [or download images] to local hard disk. But to keep it easy, I want this app to create a small picturebox on form to show the thumbnail of downloaded image. Lets say a 5 pictureboxes has to be added with the thumbnails to show the recent downloads. A user can save the location where he wants to save the files on hard disk. A listbox or a dropdown menu will help in categorizing the images, like image1 in friends section, image2 in family section, image3 in others, etc... When the program restarts all the latest 5 thumbnails has to be loaded in pictureboxes and the directory that was chosen. Finally, a button that shows the downloaded images into original image file size one by one or a slide show. Is it possible to make such program?
