The combo box first index is just a blank, and the second is COM1, COM2,...COMn. What I want to do is by default, I want my program to select the first COM port in the combo box, so in this case, COM1.
I know I have to use the PORTNAME property of the serial object, but not sure how I would set that equal to the 2nd index of the combo box.
I have 10 Comboboxes in a form. All these combo boxes have databound items which come from the same column in a table in the database (access 07) (Am designing a billing software, and these comboboxes show the items (10 lines of them).All these combos reside in one Groupbox.Now for the strange (scary/funny) part, whenever I change a value of 1 combo, all the other combos change automatically and show the same value as the one that was changed. I've in my app many self created custom controls (not as a real active x control, but a simple modified class). In this case I'm writing about a groupbox. I've placed many of them on different forms. But now, I want to change the backcolor of this controls. I change the backcolor in the class, rebuild the project, and the backcolor didn't change. Why? I don't want to place the groupbox again, it would be too much work. It should be a chance to do this whithout placing the groupboxes again.

The thing is that the image is bigger than the control, so I want it to automatically resize the image, as IE does when the same thing happens there, and it even shows a little magnifier glass to restore the image to full size.How can this be achieved? What happens at default is that the image is bigger than the control, so a quarter of it shows and I have to scroll to see the rest.

But later when I updated the VB Form and tried linking the database on this revision of the project,and then added the details to the combo box where to read the values and run the form, nothing displays in combo box. If an item is added in one, I want the change reflected in the other two. I'm trying to create one sub to handle the adding of an item for all three combos. I found that the "sender" object appears to contain the control name. The Sub I created is not working quite right because after the item is added, the combo list display repeats itself. So instead of "Item1, Item2, Item3" after adding "Item3", I get "Item1", "Item2", "Item1", "Item2", "Item3". This coding works fine if I were to copy it to the Key_Down event for each combo and reference it directly (for example, use cboSpecialty1.Items.[code]...
View 4 RepliesI have a SplitContainer on a form that has 2 panels. The top panel has a FlowPanelLayout control docked in it and the bottom panel has a DataGridView docked in it. I want the top panel to be collapsed when the form is first shown. As the user adds controls to the FlowPanel I want to grow the top panel just enough to see the controls and visa versa. When the user removes controls from the FlowPanel I want to shrink the top panel. If no controls exist I want the top panel to collapse again.
Can I do this by changing properties of all the controls at design time, because I can't figure out the right combination to make it work? Or do I have to do this programmatically?
I have a modal form with a single instance of the built-in .NET 2.0 tab control. The tab control has several pages, and on one of them is a combo box that isn't populated until the user activates it for the first time. When that happens, I handle the DropDown event and run a process that takes several seconds, then I add the items returned by that process to the combo box.It works fine, except right after the list portion of the combo box is dropped down, it immediately closes as if some other control took the focus. I've narrowed it down to the fact that there is a tab control on the form, and the process that retrieves items for the combo box takes more than 4 seconds. If I create a completely blank form with just the combo box, I don't see this behavior.
Needless to say, this is strange beyond belief. Any idea why the tab control would interfere with the control that currently has focus?

I want to avoid paste operation in combox box control. to suppress the system context menu for copy and paste, I did following steps1) Create a empty new context menu (just drag drop new context menu on the form)
2) Assigned newly created empty ContextMenuStrip to combo box ContextMenuStrip property. Is it the right way to avoid right click system context menu? is there any other way to do so?
