Show Form Over Full Screen Game Window?
Nov 22, 2010I want to show my app form over the full screen game windows without minimizing the game window (Like a pop-up window). I have tried a few APIs (BringWindowToTop, SetWindowPosition and SetForegroundWindow). But they didn't work for me.

May 26, 2011I am in need of a small application, that will allways be topmost and will send keystrokes to the last active application (typically notepad or an explorer window). My problem is retrieving the current active form (or application), when my application is started up. Every search seems to return old and rather complex solutions using Win32 library functions, but I was kinda hoping, that .Net allowed for a neater and more simple solution.I need a code example or link on how to retrieve the currently active application window from another application just starting up.

Jan 28, 2012It has to be a simple line of code but I do not know how to construct it. Using VB 2010 Express, I have a MDI parent form and many child forms. I want the parent form to determine what child form is active and load data into the RichTextBox1 on the child form. Each Child form has a RichTextBox1. The parent form gets its data by loading a file.
I am close to a solution but just can't get there. You will see in the code below, if I make a direct reference to a specific child form, it works great. What I want to do is to use the Active Form function to determine which form to write to. I have looked at the MS tutorial which gets me close.

VS 2010 Application Window Disappears Sometimes?
Jan 6, 2012So i have made this program which im done with. All code has been written and it is working as it should. I do however have one bug that is pretty wierd.
Sometimes the main window just dissapears ! And i cant get it to show it self again.. Rebooting my computer does not help.. And then sometimes it just randomly shows it self again, but only between runs.
The only thing that i can come up with that could cause this, is the part of code i have that saves the position of the window to application settings and reloads them upon run. So that you can move the window around your screen (in this case dual monitors) and then close it, and the next time you start the application it shows where you closed it the last time. This must screw up somehow.

Jan 14, 2012make a window with a window. hit coded button/ and or image coded for a button. make visible. you can drag it around and make it work like you were using a window.
Update: the form 1 would have a image button that opens a form thats form would act like a window. like the ones you use when you open up a folder on your desktop. but it would minmize into the form 1 as an image button caching its info so you can pop it back up.

In pseudocode it would be smth like webbrowser1.show(1*webbrowserWindow.Height, 0.5*webbrowserWindow.Width, webbrowserWindow.With.StartFromLeft/Right). May 22, 2009I am writing a script editor application that users can use to write scripts for a certain game. I am using a Treeview to display all the script files in the default folder, where they are usually located. The Treeview functions as some kind of File Browser, but only shows the relevant script files.
Now, I have had a few 'complaints' about this: the problem was that not every stores their scripts in the default location, and hence they cannot use the File Browser properly. So I came up with an idea that would allow the user to add and remove folders from the File Browser; turning the Treeview more or less into a 'working directory' into which the user can add whatever folder containing script files that he wishes.

Creating A Parent-Child Window Form In VB 2010?
Aug 4, 2011I am trying to create a simple parent-child form in VB2010. I use a datagridview for each table/datasource and each is bound to the paretn/child table and each table grid fills correctly. What I want is the parent-child relation to enforce filling the child table with only rows that fulfill the current row on the parent. I have created a DataRelation in the form load, but it will not permit a relation between tables in 2 different datasets. If I attempt to place both tables in a single dataset and define the PK-FK relation in the SQL Serve,r I cannot create 2 separate datagrids from the same dataset.

Feb 10, 2011I have a very large program I would like to write but think starting with a smaller test program would be a good idea. What I want to know is: I have a base Form from which a user clicks a button to answer a question (Answer A, B, C, or D) which if the answer is correct will pop up a "Correct! answer response in a separate window. This is ok for now, however, when the "proceed to next question" button is clicked, I would like the next question to appear in the original base form window.
Right now it pops up in a separate window and I'd rather not have 20 windows open at the end of the quiz. How do I load the next form in the same window!? Obviously it's possible and could be something I'm completely overlooking, and I've also read that I could replace all data with the next Form. I have searched "Visual Basic load form in same window" and came up with results, but none of what I'm looking for.
