I also have a data table and data adaptor, both of which I know work.I am trying to update something in the database, yet it isn't working. Assume everything listed is declared correctly. What am I doing wrong?

I am working on a simple programme that has a dataset linked combobox that changes the contents of a datagridview when the SelectedIndexChanged event on the combobox occurs. (i.e. you select a client in the combobox and it shows you all of the orders they have placed in the datagrid view). I have got the two set up and displaying the data but cant get it to update back to the database when I add a record to the datagrid view.

Is it because the second data adaptor uses a variable in its sql string which only shows the current record of the combobox? If so how do I get around this and update the records added to the datagrid?
Can I use different stored procedures from 1 table adaptor that has all the stored procedures in it?
View 3 RepliesI have written a sketch for Arduino that sends serial data to my VB.Net app. Works great using the included USB port on the board. I need more distance, so I installed a MAX232. This is interesting. I get proper data in TeraTerm for both com ports (the Arduino USB comes up as a com port). I get proper data in my VB app from the Arduino USB (com) port. I get nothing from the MAX232 circuit on the other com port in my VB app. Why would both work in TeraTerm, but only the USB cable on the Arduino, not my MAX232 circuit in my application?

how do I fill roster_table with table_adaptor (or alternate method)?
I have a table adaptor that pulls from the sql database, when I edit the table adaptor query it makes this specific table adaptor not a part of the dataset. I have added a column to my database which will contain an integer, when I try to add this column to the query this error occurs, i am using the configure area of the table adaptor.

Rather than running numerous queries in Access I am trying to write a front end for a DB2 database. The Access database is getting to a size that it is causing Access 2007 to have reliability issues and frequent compacting is required. I have created the Dataset, the Table Adaptors, and the Connection String already, but when I put in a bit of code in to fill the Table Adaptors the remote connection I have to work is going crazy (chewed up about 180MB before I realised it was pulling data from work).
Before I started the project I copied the .accdb to my local PC HDD and I pointed the connection string to it, but it still looks like it is trying to pull data from the work network. If it was a small database I wouldnt be concerned but it is pulling major data every time I run it. I have only 2 out of the 4 Table Adaptors running and it didnt fill them even after 10 minutes.
Here is the code I was trying to run... Server name has been substituted for Server for obvious work reasons.
Because the tables are so large I was looking for a way to pull only the columns I need to from the tables, I tried adding .SOFT_ID to the first line of code but the TA spat the dummy message below...

I have a problem in timers, I want to display 2 forms each one after 3 and 5, how to do that? I mean when the first form appears, after 3 seconds another one will appear, then after 5 seconds the second will appear. I have a code where someone gave me here but its for message box only, thus I modify it to put a form still does not work. Here the code I put in the timer below:

I still have problem when the message box stops, it displays all the forms together. All I want is when the message box stops, then it display the first form then stop to display the second then stop to display the last. The first form must stay for 3 seconds on the screen, then after 3 seconds the second appears then after 5 seconds the last appears.

I have a datagridview with several combobox columns.I've filled these with data from a database.But the combobox standard displays as empty. You have to click/select it and choose the right value.But what I want is that the first value is displayed and selected automatically. With a normal combobox you can do this by setting the selectedindex to 0.However this seems not to be possible with a datagridview combobox.Is there a way to display the first value anyway?

This only happens on Windows 7 64 bit. I have been told to compile as a x86 application but i cannot do that as i have several other DLL's in the program that are not 64 bit specific and so the build falis. I have also tried using a browser in VB.net , it opens fine in XP, bit widows 7 it opens a new window and it's maximized and therefore the content behind get hidden

There is no data that ties directly into the gridview just the ability to add multiple rows at a time to save the data.
