I am building an application with an Access database, using Visual Basic 2010 and am not sure where the best place to store that database is. I am looking forward to creating an install file and want to make sure that the database is in the right place.
I am using an Access database and vb.net 2010. I have created a table in the database with columns for title, datein, dateout and roomnymber. In vb.net 2010 I made a distinguished title = combobox, datein and dateout = DateTimePicker. When I click on F5, an error occurs: INSERT INTO Syntax Error in statement. Here's my code:
Dim sql As String sql = "INSERT INTO tcekin(title,firstname,lastname,address,country,company,roomnumber,datein,dateout,rommtype,note)" & "VALUES('" & ComboBox1.Text & _
The following is the code i used to get the value from textbox to listbox and store all the listbox values to the access database at the runtime. In the database, i have only one field called num which is been set as a multivalue field using the lookupwizard. But actually what happens is ,no error is occurred, but the value is not updated in the batabase.
vb.net
Imports System.Data.OleDb Public Class Form1 Dim conn As OleDbConnection[code]...
how to store a hash in my Access Database. Now I have generated a hash by salting a user password with the User ID (not highly secure I know, but plenty for my purposes). I have also stored the hashed values in the database as Base64 strings (manually, I haven't yet developed the module to do that automatically), however, when I go to retrieve the hash from the database I receive the hex code in place of the string. This is the code for the login button:
Sub prcLogin() 'Log User in Dim ds As New DataSet Dim blnCorrect As Boolean
[code]....
But when I run this instead of returning a value like "rlzhYoiO4+vpdJdsrFq5Sj9VBJ+FFYhIg9V5+z+jeNI=" which I stored in the database, it returns a value like "5C6BED0D94
I am a VB.net beginner. I am doing simple program that has database connection with access 2007 and i want to store the data (whatever i enter in the textbox) to the database.I did the connection as per the instruction in the msdn(i.e;datasource/database/ms access/selecting accdb file/draging and dropping the fields of the table to the form from the datasource window)I want the code to store data from vb 2008 to access 2007.
There is an OLE object column that contains images in my access database. I'm trying to create a program that reads the images from that ole column and store the images to a file. Currently, I have a program that creates an image file but the image is blank.[code]
If you have to store and retrieve data from a database is a string not the most effcient way? What is best?
How does this work in a real world scenario.
For example: I have a customer ie first name and last name and the CustomerID is autoincremented when initially added to the database. Now, the user could lookup and find the customer by their ID but we all know that's not practical. They don't know 231223 is John Adams, they know John Adams or Adams John.
So how do you handle this? Access is the database I am using but I think this would apply to any database.
I am following some examples I have found in earlier discussions, but have run into a problem trying to save the data. I have included my code below, and everytime I reach the ExecuteNonQuery() command it generates a syntax error in the Insert command error.[code]...
I need a way to store just the time only to my access database. the datetimepicker isn't working because there is no way to have a null date.I found this and it seems to be exactly what I need. When I try to convert it to vb2008 i get a few errors I can't figure out.
i've got a free mysql database online hosted by 000webhost, i'm just wondering if i could connect to the mysql database, and if so what would the connectionstring be like? when i connect using php its something like this: new mysqli("mysql13.000webhost.com", "user", "password", "database1"), how do i translate this into a vb connection string, i can't decide what to put as the data source [code]if there's no way to connect, is there anyway for me to create an application that can store and access database online?
I am new here and really excited to see the huge resources on this forum for vb.net. I have just started my learning of vb8 and need to create some basic applications for my personal use.I need to develop an application that can extract data from a html table and store that data into Access database. I have learned to create web browser on Visual Studio 2008. Below is the link from which I need to extract data and store into a database
I want to ask that where to store connection string in VB.Net.AS in ASP.net we can store connection string in web.config file and access it in the foll. way [code]In VB.net where to store conn. string on form_Load or any other place???
I'm working on a project right now that basically prints a string to the field that has focus in internet explorer and there's quite a bit of user specified information that needs to load when the vb program loads. Should I use a text file to store and retrieve the settings or a database? I'm a new programmer and I don't really have a clear idea on when I should use a text file compared to a database or the registry to store info. Also, if I use a database like access 2007 for example, wouldn't an end user run into an exception if they don't have that software installed on their comp? Is there a universal database format? I've linked some screenshots of the prog if you want to get an idea of how much info I need to store.
I Need to Store bunch of Jpeg files from local file system to a column with image datatype in databse. Can any one please provide me some code to do it?
Friends I have Developed my Data base Project on vb6, using adodc and datagrid using ms access database file, it was working nice in vb6, I also put Search box there and used adodc1.recordsource="select * from table" sql query.
later i needed to convert it in vb.net I converted it, every thing is working fine, but one problem appears, an adodc's Recordsource query for searching records is not working, it only works if there is data in dataset (Datagrid),suppose once i pressed search button to search record and if no record found then dataset / datagrid becomes empty, now i wanted to search an other record with other name, but this time it does not work and following error appears Either BOF or EOF is True, or the current record has been deleted. Requested operation requires a current record.
I am coding a program that will allow the user to input 5 payrolls for Store 1, Store 2, and Store 3. The total of the 5 payrolls are then added together and shown in the respective Store's labels. A total label is also there to add up all the totals into one number. The numbers in the label must be in currency form. My problem is the numbers don't add correctly when I hit calculate. The first two numbers add together, but then after that the number just seems to subtract a random amount.
So far I have this --
Public Class Form1
Private Sub Button2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button2.Click Me.Close() End Sub
I have the following code where I make an copy of my database that I use. the code executes 100% but the problem I have is I'm not able to access my database afterward.I get a "Cannot start your application. The workgroup information file is missing or opened exclusively by another user." and so if I restart the application it all works fine again.I'm certain the reason is because I can only access that database using a specific account name and password which is not account I'm logged in with. What i want to try is to default that database mdb to the point where no user is accessing it, or to reassign the the only account name that can access it to that database mdb. I've tried playing around with file security but had no luck.
Private Sub cmdBackup_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles cmdBackup.Click BackupDialogDB.DefaultExt = ".mdb"
I recently made a small exe program that connects to an Access database. Now it runs fine on most computers, but the one it HAS to run good on has some pretty harsh restrictions set on it's network. The problem is an OLEdb connection is refused because the file is not trusted on the Network, and I don't know how to give it the access it needs.I've tried running an install with it, and that will give it access, but only on the local computer and not on the network drives.I've tried placing the database in the network drive and accessing it with the install there, but there is a problem in that the local drives are wiped at logout.I've tried giving it trust access through Administrator Tools, but it always throws an error when I try it.
I use the following code to import a XML file into an Access database: dbname = "c:PC Auditer.accdb" xmlFile = strFileName Dim ds As New DataSet Dim streamRead As New System.IO.FileStream(strFileName, System.IO.FileMode.Open) ds.ReadXml(streamRead) streamRead.Close() [Code] ..... The import works fine, but when a next XML file is imported with less records, the database don't get updated and the 'old' records remain in the database.
I know how to make an .exe file with vb 2008..but my project have a database (ms access 2003) and when i tried to convert it to an .exe file, the database is not attached.
I'm using Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 to set/get data from database access file, but it isn't working perfectly on 64-bit systems, so I'm looking for an alternative way.set/get data from database access file working on 64-bit systems.
I'm having a hard time looking for a tutorial over the net on how to store sound files to access database. I'm planning to make a playlist on my application where in the user will just select the filename on a listbox and will click the play button. is this possible? it is okay if you can give me links on how to do this?.
