Windows 7 64bit Cannot Create Local Port Through Registry

Jun 26, 2011

I am writing a vbs to create local port to connect to our printer server (i.e local port for \PrintServerPrintQueue1). I can create the local port succesfully through editing the registry HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionPorts and then restarting the spooler service in Windows 7 32bit. However, the same script cannot create the port in Windows 7 64bit. The registry was also changed but cannot create the local port after restarting spooler service. Does anyone know what difference between 32bit and 64bit Windows when creating the local port?

Create A Windows Service That Listens To A Port For Data?

Sep 17, 2009

I'm experiencing a weird problem. I need to create a Windows service that listens to a port for data. The data is comma separated, so I need to split it up and just write a few of the separated values to a file. This is a brief summary of my code:-

Do While True

tcpClient = tcpListener.AcceptTcpClient()
networkStream = tcpClient.GetStream()
Dim bytes(tcpClient.ReceiveBufferSize) As Byte

[code]....

Now the above code works fine. But suppose I just want to write only (2) to file i.e 2 of the comma separated values, problems arise. This is what happens:-

If I include both lines (1) and (2), output file = lines (1) and (2)
If I include only line (1) and comment out (2), output file = line (1)
If I include only line (2) and comment out (1), output file = BLANK ???

Moving On To Windows 7 - 64bit?

Dec 9, 2010

I'm getting a new laptop with pretty free hands as to what to get. Most I like come with Windows 7 64bit and I'm a bit cautious about that as I have Vista 64bit on a stationary at home. Not completely happy with that.

I have learned that the Jet database - that I use a lot - does not run on Vista 64bit, but how's the story with Windows 7 64bit. As I will be doing a lot of programming on the new laptop (and I need to get moving again soon - busy!!) I would like to know of potential problems up front.

I'm using Visual Studio 2008 programming VB.Net

Windows 7 64bit Write File In C:WindowsSystem32?

Feb 24, 2012

I'm having a massive problem trying to write a file into the c:windowssystem32 directory. The code works fine on 32 bit machines, however does not work on 64 bit machines. My user account is an administrator on the machine, and even right clicking and choosing to run the app as administrator does not solve the issue.

When writing the file, no exception is thrown, but the file is not written. I have read various posts regarding adding an app.manifest file containing the requestedExecutionLevel node to my solution, but as yet am unable to get this to work. I have a feeling this may be because I'm using vb.net rather than c#.net(also, this is not a malicious app I am writing, I'm working on a version control app for our team and need to be able to interface with IIS files held in c:windowssystem32inetsrvconfig).

VB2010 : Make A Local Port Forwarder?

Jul 28, 2011

I'm trying to make some kind of local port forwarder, this means an app which would in my case forward port 10972 to port 25565.This is because of safety precautions. I did a whole lot of work on searching and coding myself, but without succes. Probably it works one way, but not backways. I think the response doesn't work. I really don't know what to do now.

File I/O And Registry :: .Net 2003 Win App Can't See Local Files

Jan 25, 2012

I'm programming a small windows app that allows the user to fill out some fields and then creates and runs a batch file based on their entries. The program works, but it doesn't.The program creates the batch file just fine but when it tries to run the batch file, it gets errors in the cmd window saying it cannot find the scripts the batch file is trying to call. What's confusing me is that if I take the batch file the program created and run it myself, it works just fine so I know it is not the batch that is the problem. My best guess is that there is some security setting for vs.net that I've overlooked but I am only an "every once in a while" programmer so I really don't know where to look. Additionally after running the batch, the program is supposed to delete the batch file but that fails as well with the message that it cannot find the batch file, the same batch file that it had just created and run.

Why DSLR Pro Can Access Canon 500D On Windows 64bit System

Jan 23, 2012

Currently I am building a Canon EDSDK Application using VB.NET that access a Canon 500D camera. It's a DLSR system. I've read that the EDSDK is only working on 32 bit system, thus my application only capable of running on a 32 bit system.

But, I just installed DLSR pro [URL], it can access my camera, regardless of the operating system : 32bit/64bit.

How do they able to do it?

Is there a new EDSKD that can access camera in 64 bit OS? I am using a 2.6 EDSDK.

Public Variables In Module "not Declared" Windows 7 64bit?

The problem I come across is, I have a module (Public variables and function declarations from a driver provider FTDI). Windows Application + Accessing From Outside The Local Network?

Jul 12, 2011

I have developed a windows application for my company. It is a multi user software and we are using sql 2008 as the database. The sql 2008 is installed in our company server. Within our LAN, there is no problem in accessing the software and its working pretty fine.

Now the problem is, some of the managers need to go out frequently(for business tour and all) and they need access to this software. The software is already installed in their laptops. Is there any way to access the database that is in our company server ???

We have few static IPs with us, is there any way i can use that here (Using NAT in the firewall or something)?
