Windows 7 - User Account Control - VB - SendKeys?

In the process of testing of old (XP compatible) applications with Windows 7 we have xperienced a problem, that our major application Clarify (based on VB engine) does not work properly with turned on UAC (SendKeys and DoEvents do not work). Having turned off UAC, works our application error-free. Due to the corporate policy we cannot turn off UAC but we are looking for a solution, how to turn off UAC (not prompts) only for our application or how to het to work an application based on VB with turned.

I have a couple of questions. For each username or group in windows there is an id/s number associated with it... how would I be able to use the number/id or what ever its called to get the actual Name of the user/group? Example of the id i'm talking about: S-1-5-21-839522115-1563985344-1957994488-501 To be able to get a list of these ids they are stored in.

I have created a windows service that has the Account set to user. Which means that when I install the service I need to pass a user name and password. Is there a way to set these maybe in the ProjectInstaller class maybe in the BeforeInstall event? if so HOW?

I'm trying to copy a file to "My Documents" folder via VB.Net. But my problem is that I don't know how to set the path. For example on my computer the path looks like this:
"C:Documents and SettingsArithmeticaMy Documents".
as you see this path only exists on my computer. I'm trying to find a way to retrieve the windows account username right in VB.Net.

Does anyone know how to run windows explorer with an admin account while logged in with a non admnistrative account? i want to be able to open up an admin share on a remote host with windows explorer instead of iexplorer. I tried some code I found on the net to impersonate but it didn't work.

I am trying to find the handle of the child window for the Yes button in the User Account Control window so i can click it. This window has a structure with a few child windows with the same name.

There are multiple CtrNotifySink with its own Button child window or other child windows. How do i search thru the different CtrNotifySink window to find the one that contain the Yes button so i can send a click to it? I do need to find it before i can send a click, right? because i try just sending it to the main window with sendmessage and nothing happen.I even try sending it directly to the handle found by spy++ of the yes button with bm click but nothing happen?

I am creating a form for work where managers can report when they find a customer's personal information laying around on a desk (we work at a call center where agents answer calls for a wireless cell phone provider, so we take personal information security very seriously). Anyway, I am wondering if there is a way to have a text box autofill with that manager's windows username (since they will need to be logged into their own profile to use the form).

I thought I postet this yesterday but I can't find my thread so if this is a duplicate please point me at the original one. Background: I need to create a user account and Modify it's registry before the user logs on the first time. Creating the account is done by using the Winnt provider (works great). To create the profile I'm trying to use Process.start to launch a process as the newly created user. With the use of loaduserprofile property the users profile gets created and i can do my regwrites without problem.

I have a small application I have developed to just put in some text into another applications input box, and it works perfectly!..... On windows 7. When I try to run the application the exact same way on windows xp the entire computer freezes for a little bit of time, then after it continues to run my application it doesn't insert any text to the applications textbox. I created a custom user control named "XYZ" and It is avaialble at the toolbox menu in the design mode and I can drag and drop it to a vb.net Windows form. What I really want is to dynamically to add this user control to the Windows form during the Windows form load event. Actually I want to add this user control to a "split container" named "sc_1" on the tab page named "tp_1" on a tab control named "tc_1" on a Windows form. I have an application that I want to load using the scheduler in windows. I am also wanting the "enter" key pressed when the app loads. Because you cannot use a batch file I tried using a vb app. It works great on two different windows 7 machines but not at all on the xp machines. The xp machines load the app but don't follow through with the sendkey.
Sidenote - I had to repeat the sendkey function in order to get this to work because I am not sure how to use the sendkeys.sendwait function. I tried and it never worked.

I don't have any code written as of yet but here is what I'm trying to do...Suppose 'JOHN' is the user of computer 1 and I wrote an application that accessed his ccount...particularly some folder within his 'JOHN' name....obviously when I code it I would use the 'JOHN' name...PROBLEMBut what if I want to use the same application on another computer with another user's name (eg. I have a User control having two panels. one at the top border and second at the bottom border of the control.
The panels contain some buttons on the click of which i want to display some forms. But I want thoes forms to act like children of the user control i.e. like MDi Parent - Child (here parent being User control and child being the new forms which would be opening). Unfortunately i've not been able to find any way of do'in so.

I have a program that I am creating in a windows form to track information about computers that I build for each project I do. The way I have my form layout is two buttons on the top of the form(1 for adding a computer and the 2nd to remove a computer) I then have a Tab window where when I want to add a computer I use the "Add button" click event to create a new tab and add a user control "Computer" that I created that contains all of the default fields that I desire (i.e. serial numbers os type, product key etc.) The "Computer" user control also contains two buttons (1 for adding a PC Card and the 2nd to remove a PC Card) The PC Card is another user control that I have created that has all of the desired fields I require for PC Cards. I am able to add new computers with no problem and name the tab

I need to be able to validate the windows password of the account that is currently logged in. I've managed to do this when the unit has a password. But if it does not have a password, passing an empty string does not work. It fails each time.I've been looking around, but haven't been able to find much on this.
