Have a bit of code ported from VB6 to VB.NET. It uses Write and WriteLine all the way to produce output files.
Now, I need to compare outputs from original and ported code, but there's one tiny problem with number formatting. For instance whereas VB6 code Writes just .5, the VB.NET code produces 0.5, instead of .0005 (in original) it writes 5E-4, etc.
How can I make VB.NET's Write to write numbers in the same format as VB6? The option of refactoring writing code to include formatting step is not acceptable.
Write a program that will output the sum of the powers from 1 to the supplied number. For example an input of 4 will produce 288 ( 1 exponent 1 + 2 exponent 2 + 3 exponent 3 + 4 exponent 4 = 288)how can i work with this?
I have to write a program that does a count down on the number of seconds you entered in the GUI I have most of the code and it basically has to countdown the seconds i type in the txtStart. Attached is the program design..This is what i have so far with the code. It converts seconds to hours and minutes and seconds, but it doesn't do the countdown.[code]
So Im a student and I need some help I have a question "Write a program that displays a list of Super Bowl winners ordered by the number of games won." I need to use arrays, in the most basic way possible someone was telling me about keys but I havent done that yet...The array is a text file with just the 44 names of the Superbowl Winners...
I'm supposed to write a program that validates an inputted ten digit ISBN number using the check-digit at the end to ensure that the sum is a multiple of eleven. Before calculating this and detecting if the entered number is indeed a valid ISBN, we're required to check the first nine digits and see if they are indeed integers. After this the tenth digit is checked to see if it is "X" (for ten) or 0-9.
With the code I've written it keeps returning false for whether or not the ISBN is valid, even with valid numbers. I feel like its something to do with the hyphens; have I misused the replace function?I'm a little lost on how to make my code work, but I'm fairly certain my logic is okay so far.
With a Time value in my program. Basically, I am importing a travel Time from a database e.g. 3:45 so it takes 3 hrs and 45 minutes to get from a to b. I then want to double this - 3:45 * 2 = 7:30, and then want to multiply it by a cost e.g. travel is charged at 25 per hour. so it would be total travel time = 7:30. Travel cost = 25. Total Travel Cost = 7:30 * 25. In the access db, it is stored as a text field, and then imported in vb as a string.
I need to write a program that requests a high number and a low number from the user, then the program searches the array and finds all elements within the two numbers. The program is used to search for past presidents, so if I type 43 for low number and 44 for high number, the program will display:
George Walker Bush Barack Hussein Obama
I think I have an idea of how to search up to a certain point, but not to stop at a certain point....Here is the code that I have for that particular sub procedure:
Quote:
Private Sub btnDisplayRqst_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnDisplayRqst.Click Dim sr As IO.StreamReader = IO.File.OpenText("PRESIDENTS.TXT")
how i can write a program to create a shortcut in the startup folder of a different program. So i have one program on my computer that should run at startup, i just need another program to create a shortcut to it, and then copy this shortcut into the startup folder.
I'm trying to write a function where if the number in the first textbox is greater than the number in the second textbox.the result shows that it is "True", otherwise, it will show "False."
This is what I have so far:

What am I suppose to put in the Button coding? Or is what I have wrong? I don't know.
i have to write a program for my VB class that consists of a resistance checker program. I've searched like a madman to help me through this and I have found nothing >. The program consists of 2 combo boxes, the first one is the nominal resistance drop down list of the numbers :100, 150, 220, 330, 470, 680, 820 and 1000. The second list is of the tolerance numbers; +/- 0.4%, +/-0.6% and +/-0.8%. Now what i want to do is select a number from the first combo box and select the tolerance level of the second combo box and i input the resistor of said value into the text box. when i click the check resistor button it should display a message saying if the resistor is in or out of tolerance. For now I have the form all laid out and the values inputted into both combo boxes and i can go to run the program i am able to select said values. Now my problem is trying to get the right code so that i can check the resistors value.
I have a richtetbox and i have it so that the user can change the font and the font color, does anyone know how i could get it to print with the formatting (font, size, color)?
Date.Now.ToString return a string like "6/24/2010 3:31:27 PM". I only want the year to be 2 digits, like "6/24/10 3:31:27 PM". What's the best way to do this?
2 Listboxes gives values to listbox3 like "listbox1item:listbox2item"When I export it to txt file and open in notepad, it shows listbox1item:listbox2item listbox1item:listbox2item listbox1item:listbox2item but when I open same file on wordpad and other text editors it shows like
Im trying to write a loop that will read through a number of *.csv files in a folder and then stuff the data into SQL. The code works and will happily put the data i want for a named file into SQL no problems. So when i had that working i then tried to loop it so that it would do the same for all files in the folder until all files had been done, and not error out if there where no files etc.
Maybe im tired (well, i am) or not had enough coffee but i just cant get this to work, it should be simple - i know it is infact, but its making ME feel simple.i think i should have an integer count in there, but similar examples ive seen dont use one. Also when trying to open the path i get an error at runtime "the path is not of a legal form"
code: Public Sub ImportCUSTCSVs() Dim dt As New DataTable() Dim line As String = Nothing[code].

I am using the DateTimePicker control in a Vb.Net Windows project.I would like the date to reflect the Regional Settings on the user's computer, but also to show the month name, rather than the month number. For example, if my computer is set to English(US), I would like to see Nov 26 2009, and if my computer is set to English (NZ), I would like to see 26 Nov 2009Is this possible?
I have a datagridview and need to do some formatting to it. On load the row 0 column 0 cell is highlighted. I need users to click on datagridview to select a value. The issue is with the initial load highlight it looks like the first row is already selected when in fact it is now. How can this highlight be disabled? Each row of has 7 cell, the user is able to select any of the cell of a row and the corresponding row ID is selected. The issue is that only that one cell is highlighted.
I would like the entire row highlighted regardless of what cell in that row is clicked on. One of the columns is a status value. I would like to color the text based on the value. For example if the Status is opened I want the text to be red, if the status is closed the text color should be default.
I am working in VB.Net and trying to use Regex.Replace to format a string I am using to query Sql. What Im going for is to cut out comments "--". I've found that in most cases the below works for what I need.
I'm entering 123 into a field and getting 231.It's because I'm formating the text as I change it.
Private Sub txtObject_TextChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles txtObject.TextChanged txtObject.Text = Format(Val(txtObject.Text), Zformat) End Sub zformat is "0.0"
Initially the field is "0.0". If I highlight it and type "1" I get "1.0" the cursor is now in front of the "1",I then type "2" and get "21.0" and the cursor is in front of the "1",I then type "3" and get "231.0".
It is because the cursor is in the "wrong" position. Is there a simple way to fix this?
