Forms :: Making A Spell Checker For Richtextbox Control
Apr 22, 2011i'am having trouble in making a spell checker for vb.net richtextbox control.I have made a form with richtextbox control and a panel control. I have put a listbox control in the panel control and filled with certain words. What iam able to do is whenever i select a word and click a button the panel appears just below the word (using get position from char) and display the choice. What iam not able to do is:
1) Select each word one-by-one whenever i click a button say F1 - I know keypress event but how do i select the words through keypress. I know they are separated by spaces but iam not familiar as to how to take advantage of it. The major problem being that there can be 2-3 words together sometimes colored as red. Eg: What i want is when i press F1 first time "this" is selected, next time "is" is selected and next time "nice car color" is selected. The two things are spaces and red color but i don't get anything from it.
2) Display the panel correctly within the main form's border. Right now when i select the last word of the sentence some part of panel disappears as it hides behind the main form. Eg - only 1/4th appears and rest hides. I can't find a way to limit it from moving when it has reached the main form size. I want to constrain it between top-bottom and left-right border of main form.

I am currently using the C1.Win.C1Spell.C1Spell control on a windows form application written in VB.net. The user will enter notes into a text box and push a button on the form that will call the .CheckControl() method and passing in the notes text box to perform a spell check on.

May 16, 2012I am a newbie to VB.Net. Before, I did programming in PHP. I made a spell checker in PHP which splitted a big string into single word by spaces, checked if the word is there in the dictionary, if not, it highlighted it and gave some suggestions when a user clicks on it. I want to make the same thing in VB.Net.

Last Activate Control - Event Leave Calls Another Sub?

Because event leave calls another sub i need the last active control. I have the textbox name txtTime{0} but obviously string is not a control.
So Two questions:
1) can a string value be attached to an existing control if i know it's name? Dim attControl as Control = newTime
2) All this could be avoided in event leave if i could get the left controls name. I have tried sender. tostring etc but nothing returns the textboxs name

Aug 10, 2010I am writing a few web based apps which will require a webbrowser extension. I have already used the IE webbrowser control that uses the trident web rendering engine. I believe this is MSHTML.DLL? Anyway, some of the users of my programs have complained of a few things. Particularily,
1. It seems to be a slow browser, at least compared to other rendering engines out there (webkit and gecko are 2 known ones).
2. On the developer side, it seems to be low in features. The features are sufficient in most cases, but there are some "special" things that I need.
3. It has VERY low HTML (and especially HTML5) compliance.
My question is, how much work would it take to use a different engine (such as webkit .net, which I HAVE heard of) and be able to distribute it easily. Or, if you guys feel ambitious, we could try writing a brand new engine ourselves. I know how big of a job it is, and frankly, I have no clue where to begin. I would just like your thoughts and opinions on the matter.

This all work fine but after a while the webbrowser navigation becomes increasingly slower.

Feb 20, 2010I have a regular application form with a WebBrowser control.I have strung together a .htm file (from a regular text file) which I then assign to the WebBrowser control. In the html file, I have filenames mentioned.I am trying to string together the html in such a way as to give a clickable link or button that will parse into html and open the corresponding file in another WebBrowser control in VB.I have tried using VBScript and JavaScript to put a button in the html.As long as the function or sub I call is also in the same html document, it works, but I really need to transfer the control back into visual basic where I can do the heavy lifting I need to.can I just not do this as a regular VB application? Any way to do it without adding the complication of requiring ActiveX?

Dec 6, 2010I have a Network Deployed .Net 3.5 Windows Form VB.Net application that was referencing the Microsof Office 12.0 Library dll.As of last week the following code was working, however, the operations team upgraded everyone's Office (not a major upgrade, just a minor upgrade). Basically when the spell checker is running it is HIDDEN behind the VB.Net application and it appears that the application is now frozen. When I look at the task manager I see the instance of Office running and when I set that program to the front (in the Task Manager) I see the Spell Check box and can continue through. I'm not sure in my code what I'm missing to set the priority of the Spell Check box so that it is on top of the app.
As of today I used the 2.0.5 version of the 12.0 library but originally I was using 1.2.x of that dll. However upgrading to the latest version did nothing. I got the same results.I should also note that I looked at a 3rd party Spell Checker (Component One) and that required customization in the dictionary.
