Forms :: Making A Spell Checker For Richtextbox Control
Apr 22, 2011
i'am having trouble in making a spell checker for vb.net richtextbox control.I have made a form with richtextbox control and a panel control. I have put a listbox control in the panel control and filled with certain words. What iam able to do is whenever i select a word and click a button the panel appears just below the word (using get position from char) and display the choice. What iam not able to do is:
1) Select each word one-by-one whenever i click a button say F1 - I know keypress event but how do i select the words through keypress. I know they are separated by spaces but iam not familiar as to how to take advantage of it. The major problem being that there can be 2-3 words together sometimes colored as red. Eg: What i want is when i press F1 first time "this" is selected, next time "is" is selected and next time "nice car color" is selected. The two things are spaces and red color but i don't get anything from it.
2) Display the panel correctly within the main form's border. Right now when i select the last word of the sentence some part of panel disappears as it hides behind the main form. Eg - only 1/4th appears and rest hides. I can't find a way to limit it from moving when it has reached the main form size. I want to constrain it between top-bottom and left-right border of main form.
I want to add a spell checking feature to my richtextbox but i do not want to use MS Word or any other application to spell check for me. I have got a list of words for the spell checker in a .txt file with each word on a spereate line.
i am trying to convert netspell to VB.Net so instead of using the pop up dialog, i want it to use the richtextbox on the main form. I have nearly finished converting the whole project, but i have encountered a few errors, these are listed bellow.

I was wondering if anyone has code available that would check for spelling using VB Forms? I work in an environment that has Office 2007 installed. I'm currently using some code that works, but leaves a bunch of WINWORD.EXE process open (one for each field I'm spell checking).
I am having an issue that I hope someone has a solution regard the Component One Spell checker control (version: 2.2.20082.82)... I am currently using the C1.Win.C1Spell.C1Spell control on a windows form application written in VB.net. The user will enter notes into a text box and push a button on the form that will call the .CheckControl() method and passing in the notes text box to perform a spell check on.
I am a newbie to VB.Net. Before, I did programming in PHP. I made a spell checker in PHP which splitted a big string into single word by spaces, checked if the word is there in the dictionary, if not, it highlighted it and gave some suggestions when a user clicks on it. I want to make the same thing in VB.Net.
i need a code or example of how to make it so that when a user presses ctrl p it will create a picturebox were the cursor is, i have this done, but how do i make it load them back in, and make it so if a panel or picturebox, runs into one of the ones the user created it will say "Smash", but there will most likely be tons of pictureboxes so i really need the help. how do i make a custom image file type that can hold up to 4 images and save and load them back in? how do i make a simple spell checker?
Is there any spell checker library for .NET which really supports Arabic script languages? I want to spell check the words in a rich text box in VB.net.

I want to create a text editor control and I tried to download a RichTextBox control in vs 2008 but i can't find it fo free. any one can give me a link to download it for free.
What I have is a user control that has two RichTextBoxes. In the user control, there is RichTextBox1's TextChanged event, I want it to set RichTextBox2's Text to the same as RichTextBox1's Text, I'm currently using: RichTextBox2.Text = RichTextBox1.Text. The user control is on the main form, when I run the application and type I get this error: StackOverflowExecption was unhandled. [Code]
i want user when clicks a button to show a selection around a richtextbox and not inside it selecting the text... what i have right now is this: richtextbox1.focus() that will indeed focus the richtextbox but the problem is, it only selects its text content.
What i want is something similar to a Yellow or Blue Square showing around the richtextbox i want to "select", so the user will properly notice the richtextbox more easelly.
i tried messing with the vb express rectangle stuff but i cant get it to draw over all objects, its actually always displaying below all objects in the forum
EDIT: ive also tried using a tiff picturebox with a drawed empty rectangle on it, but the dreadish thing when put over other objects like textboxes, it simply just displays the color of the form emitting any other objects in between, setting the background color to transparent under web colors had the same problem...
Ok, So i have googled my ass off looking, I've seen it somewhere were you can make a hyperlink with one line of text so when they click the button it opens that website in there browser and i cant seem to find it, Dose anybody know?.
Next thing, Dose anybody know how to make it so the richtextbox on my page expands when you make the window maximized, I did parent body thing but it covered all the other content on the page :/
When i am receiving server responses some are to long for the RTB so obviously continue on the next line. Each line is time stamped. If the word is to long it looks as follows:
15:00 this is a long message 15:01 another message and so on
what i would like is for the new line to be indented to under the text above so it does not wrap directly under the time stamp. [Code]
I am thinking about make a toolbar like... the quick launch toolbar, with autohide, top position (opposite of start/task bar), skinnable, etc.Is this possible? I need it to work with XP and Vista. I am using Visual Studio 2008, VB.NET.
I am making a program in vb.net (visual basic) that has two forms. I have one as a sort of "main" base which will be behind everything. Then I have another additional form which is suppose to go on top of the "main" form. Well I get this to work when I show both of the forms, but I want the smaller (additional) form to be centered onto the main form. If you want an easier sense of it, its a small box in a big box. (all centered and aligned). Does anyone know how to do this?
I have a form that when a user clicks on a button that it opens a new window with a dataset. Is it possible to be able to edit that dataset and have messagebox.shows along with that for approval?
this is my code till now, i no most of it doesnt make sense but i dont know the most efficient way of making a program that has five lisboxes (4 are classes 1 is absent list) of names but each class can only have 10 student and the user should be able to move student to other classes as required
Yesterday I was working with a RichTextBox and decided to add some formatting to my logging (I've never formatted text in one before!! O_O) ...not quite what I expected! Now, normally I work with plain unformatted text and I have an imposed limit on the number of characters I allow to be displayed in the GUI log. So I did my usual thing: After the length exceeds my cap I remove all the oldest lines from the log and set the most recent log info as the .Text property of the RTB... FAIL! All formatting was lost and things were ugly looking again. Sigh.
Does any one know where I can find a ruler control that inherits RichTextBox Control for VB 2008 with code. I am building my own word processor and I am trying to make it look like MS Word. I am somewhat new to this, so take it easy on me ladies and gents. i am using VB 2008 Express Edition, Windows Form.VB 6.0, VBExprss, ASP,Net, & Gaming
Im trying to make a radiobutton move diagonaly, (Dont ask why a radiobutton, i did it in college last week) For some strange reason though I need another radiobutton just going across the screen in order for my diagonal radiobutton to move.I would like to develop this into a game like pong, when I have gone further into VB.
This part of visual basic is new to me. How can i make multiple forms that each operate on different computers but can interact with each other and influence each other over the internet?
I have got the code to create a Hyperlink in a richtextbox, I'll share it with you but to the experts, I have a question...
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load dim newlabel as new linklabel newlabel.Text = HYPERLINKNAME.text newlabel.AutoSize = True
[code].....
I need to somehow get the NEWLABEL THAT THE PERSON CLICK!
I am trying to bind a RichTextBox to data from an XML file where text within a paragraph may be tagged with formatting tags. As an example the text may look like this:"The size of the area is 5000 m<superscript>2</superscript>".Text may also contain other formatting tags such as or :"The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog".
