I am thinking about make a toolbar like... the quick launch toolbar, with autohide, top position (opposite of start/task bar), skinnable, etc.Is this possible? I need it to work with XP and Vista. I am using Visual Studio 2008, VB.NET.
I'm trying to make a thumbnail toolbar button (TTB from now on)visible when the it is clicked. I know how to do stuff when it is clicked, AddHandler etc. But if I tell it TTB.visible=false then it doesn't become invisible. If I put TTB.enabled = False it will be disabled, so it's only the visible that isn't working.
Also I put a button on my form (not a TTB) and when that is click wrote, TTB.visible = false and that didn't work, so there is no way to make it invisible.
I've got a VB 6 application that I ported over to VS 2005. The application has a toolbar on it. When building it in VB 6, I created all the bitmaps for the toolbar. And they looked just fine. Now I have ported to VS 2005. The toolbar works just fine. But the images in the toolbar look "wrong". The best way to describe them is if you took each bitmap and squeezed it down to about 67% of it's size. So it is missing the detail it used to have. And the smalleer picture still takes up the same amount of space on the toolbar. It is just that each squeezed bitmap now looks like it has a thick, blank pictureframe around it.
I am making a program in vb.net (visual basic) that has two forms. I have one as a sort of "main" base which will be behind everything. Then I have another additional form which is suppose to go on top of the "main" form. Well I get this to work when I show both of the forms, but I want the smaller (additional) form to be centered onto the main form. If you want an easier sense of it, its a small box in a big box. (all centered and aligned). Does anyone know how to do this?
I have a form that when a user clicks on a button that it opens a new window with a dataset. Is it possible to be able to edit that dataset and have messagebox.shows along with that for approval?
this is my code till now, i no most of it doesnt make sense but i dont know the most efficient way of making a program that has five lisboxes (4 are classes 1 is absent list) of names but each class can only have 10 student and the user should be able to move student to other classes as required
Im trying to make a radiobutton move diagonaly, (Dont ask why a radiobutton, i did it in college last week) For some strange reason though I need another radiobutton just going across the screen in order for my diagonal radiobutton to move.I would like to develop this into a game like pong, when I have gone further into VB.
This part of visual basic is new to me. How can i make multiple forms that each operate on different computers but can interact with each other and influence each other over the internet?
i'am having trouble in making a spell checker for vb.net richtextbox control.I have made a form with richtextbox control and a panel control. I have put a listbox control in the panel control and filled with certain words. What iam able to do is whenever i select a word and click a button the panel appears just below the word (using get position from char) and display the choice. What iam not able to do is:
1) Select each word one-by-one whenever i click a button say F1 - I know keypress event but how do i select the words through keypress. I know they are separated by spaces but iam not familiar as to how to take advantage of it. The major problem being that there can be 2-3 words together sometimes colored as red. Eg: What i want is when i press F1 first time "this" is selected, next time "is" is selected and next time "nice car color" is selected. The two things are spaces and red color but i don't get anything from it.
2) Display the panel correctly within the main form's border. Right now when i select the last word of the sentence some part of panel disappears as it hides behind the main form. Eg - only 1/4th appears and rest hides. I can't find a way to limit it from moving when it has reached the main form size. I want to constrain it between top-bottom and left-right border of main form.
I've been working on this project for two weeks now and I'm drained from all the hiccups I've come across. Now I've hit a brick wall.I'm making a "simple" order form in Visual Basic 2010 that calculates the amount due for an order and then from the total determines what the shipping will be. I've been able to accomplish the following tasks:accept customer data (name, address, city, state abbreviation, zipcode)calculate total with shipping costs (accurately, for the most part)clear the order form and exitBut the way I have it right now, a customer can only put in 1 order form.
Problem: I have to figure out a way to allow a customer to place an order form for multiple items. (I'll assume that a customer will not place an order for more than 20 items). So what would be the best way to go about saving the information for multiple items then calculating the cost at the end?If it's multiple form creation, how is that done? Is the keyword "Container" the way to go, and how
Snippet Code: Private Sub total_mouseleave(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles total.MouseLeave
Here is a wierd case - I am making a game in Visual Basic Express 2008 with several forms. Each windows form I've given a quit command that works well to end the game. (Me.Close) However if instead I click on the big X button that windows provides in the upper right hand corner - it does not look to truely stop the program.
I'm running this program in debug mode from the MS VBE editor, but when I click that X it tells me that program is still running even though all
i have 2 list boxes.. Qty and Cost both of these are populated from a sql database. The code is suppose to read through the listboxes and multiple the Cost by the Qty and then replace the Cost with the new result. The Cost listbox is populated with the cost of one item. The reason i am not doing this calculation in the sql query is because the sql query is very complicated filter out a bunch of stuff to show just the qty of the item...
Am devloping an application with multiple forms, which reside on top of a main form. i.e the main application window. The 'child' forms do not need to be linked in any way as they do not pass information to the parent form, as all the parent form does is act as main window. Now I would like to know what is the correct way for the 'main window' form acting as a container for the other forms? So that all the smaller secondary forms stay focused on top of the main application form, that when the main window is minimized, so these forms should do also etc..
I have read other posts and they mention, leaving all the forms standard i.e. IsMdiContainer = False and then using form.showDialog() to call the secondary forms. This did not work for me as what happens is that as soon as I give focus to the main app form, the secondary form disappears underneath.I tired making the main app form IsMdiContainer = True and when it loads calling:
frmMemberForm.MdiParent = Me
Now this works, because I can click off the form and minimize the app etc and the frmMemberForm doesn't disappear. However if i close the MemberForm and reopen it, it looses this property and once again when it looses focus, it will disappear.
I'm a huge music person (got my own lil record thing going) but I'm wanting to design a program that would make music in my way. I have a decent amount of background knowlege of Visual Basic and Java I'm just wondering how could I execute this whole project. The Project is making a MPC Sampler. MPC is a drum machine; a machine with buttons that once you press it that it will play a sound from a drum (ex: snare, kick, tom, ect.) . So I would want to make some pads on my program that each have their own sound. Total of 16 pads. Which the design wouldn't be hard to make nor would the functionality of it having the play back sound (in my opinoin it wouldn't be hard atleast). But the thing is I wanna map out these pads to number keys on the number pad or keyboard. I'm not so sure how to do that. But that's all the easy stuff...
Also finding information is making a sound directory. What I mean by this is that I want to make a User Interface that will open up a file directory of sounds and the user can select what "kick" or "snare" sound he may want for the kick or snare pad. I don't know how to do that or even know what to search; neverless I don't know if this whole project idea is a good idea for Visual Basic or another programing language.
Also LATER ON I am wanting to add a record and export function that alows users to..well...record and export their beat or instrumental ha. That doesn't seem too too complex (mainly due to the fact that all it needs to do is record the users key strokes and then show them and play the sounds, but obviously it would get more complex than that.)
Here is an image of one of many MPCs but one with a directory - [URL]
I'm having an odd problem when making a form visible and not visible and it not continuing to function. Here is what I have happening. I have a main form (frmMain) that is an MDIParent. On this form I have a menu to open a second form (frmCalculate) and populate a listview from Items in the database.
As I click or select items in the listview on frmCalculate the tag is read and data is pulled based on the id stored in that tag and fills in various fields on the form. This works great. However, I also have a context menu attached to the listview that allows me to perform a "what if" scenerio on the items I am calculating. When I select this menu, I hide the frmCalculate and open the frmWhatIf form where I can mess around with values on the item I had hilighted in the listview on frmCalculate. Nothing is pulled from or written back to the database here, all the information is filled in from fields on frmCalculate. It just allows me to look at rising costs and how they will affect my margins.... anyway.
If I then close frmWhatIf, it brings my frmCalculate back by setting its visible propery to true (never closed frmCalculate, just hid it). At this point if I click an item in the listview I get an exception for a null reference. IF however I never hide frmCalculate, I can open and close frmWhatIF without ever having an issue. Why do I lose the functionality to select items just by hiding and unhiding the form? As a test I added two menus to the toolbar on frmMain one called hide and one called show. I then opened frmCalculate with original menu item to populate the listview and selected a few items to test that it was working and then using the hide menu I made the form invisible and the show button to bring it back. This yielded the same exception so without even opening frmWhatIf the problem still occurs.
I am trying to add a toolbar to my app and I would like to use larger icons than the standard 16x16. An older VB6 app that I created had large icons but I cannot figure out how to get my VB.net app to change to use the large icons.
I can't find an answer to this question anywhere. How do I add a control to the toolbar? I clicked Add reference and added the Microsoft Internet Transfer Protocol, but I can't see it on the toolbar. I also tried with another reference, but couldn't get it there either.
So, should it be there or am I completely wrong? Quirky commenters, please choose another thread. I just want an answer.
EDIT: To make it easier from the start for you guys: I use version 2008.
In .net MDI application the menu of child form automatically is merged to the menu of parent form.Is there a way to do similar thing with the tool bars. The concept is to send the toolbar of active child to the parent toolbar stripe
I hava a MDI form toolbar with command buttons and a picturebox on it.The problem is when I maximize the MDI form on runtime. The picturebox does not change its location to extreme right. I would like to have the picturebox on right hand side of the toolbar all the time, wether MDI form is maximized or in resized condition.
Not really sure what's going on here, but basically I got a new Component/Addon for my Windows Forms. I go and reference it to the Toolbar, which it accepts, and the 3 new components pop up on the screen, all fine and dandy. However, I go and press OK to add them to a group, and nothing happens. They aren't added. So, I try again, same thing. Thinking it could be a bug with the new Component, I make a new group and try to add a built in item to it, and to my surprise, nothing happens as well.
How does one go about creating their own toolbar for Internet Explorer, or something along those lines? I've been doing some digging around the web, but nobody has really made it clear whether or not it's possible to do with vb.net. I tend to keep in mind that there is almost nothing that isn't possible in vb.net but that's almost.
I am using Vb 2008, and im trying 2 enable a copy button thats in a toolbar until there is text selected in my rich text box. (normal state of the button is disabled.)
my code is below
If Editor.SelectionLength > 1 Then CopyToolStripMenuItem.Enabled = True End If End Sub
