I try to add text strings to an image but keep the metadata of the original image. The problem is How can I save ImgMetaData (from the original image) to the new image?

I am writing a little program to convert LaTeX snippets to images which can be pasted into whatever program one can paste images into. It's working alright but the next obvious step is to include the source LaTeX code as a piece of metadata in the image so that the results can be modified without having to retype everything.
I have succeeded in adding a title PropertyItem with the latex encoded as an ASCII byte array as its value (id=800, type=2, value=System.Text.Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes(codestring)). I verify that the PropertyItem is really there before trying to put the image on the clipboard.
Then I do Clipboard.SetImage(myImage). The result is all of the PropertyItems are removed (my title plus anything else that was there)! I check this by doing MsgBox(Clipboard.GetImage.PropertyItems.Count.ToString) which gives zero.
This way, the copiedImage has the same PropertyItems as the original. However, new problem:
Other programs don't recognize what's on the clipboard as an image anymore, which defeats the whole purpose. I.e., if I put an image on the clipboard this way, when I try pasting into some context that accepts pasted images, nothing happens.
I'm making a front end to dvdauthor.I have a picturebox which holds the menu background. In order to draw a textbutton on the background image I store the image in a hidden picturebox. So the text doesn't get drawn to the visible background.

I have an application which first load an 1200*800 image into an 600*400 picturebox. When i crop the whole image in picturebox and save it, the size will be 600*400. How can i make it save in 1200*800?

Basically, I need to add one item of metadata ("ImageDescription") to a PNG image I'm generating dynamically (creating a Bitmap object and procedurally generating all the content in it).
What would be the best way to add metadata to an image with .NET either before or just after writing the file to disk?

I'm editing jpg metadata and when I'm finished the file is less than half the size but ok, IE I can see modified tags correctly via windows explorer. But if I edit the same file again its down to 16k and corrupted. The image being edited is the standard desert.jpg found in the picturessample pictures directory.

As I have been collecting funny pictures and such for several years, there is no real rhyme or reason to the file naming conventions. Ergo, Image0001.jpg needs to be renamed to a descriptive filename, and the Metadata fields need to be filled in.
The desired process will take an existing jpg, gif, png, tiff or bmp and do the following:
load image into memory
convert bmp files to jpgs if needed (for a smaller file size, mostly)
load image tags into ImageData Structure (see below)

[4] ImageData.Name, .Keywords, .Title, .Subject, and .Comments changed to "lolcat ceiling cat sends son".
[5] Save file with new filename and save all new tag fields.
(Later, I will also be using SQL to build a referential database with links to the online copies of these files to allow for searching by keywords, subject, filename, etc, but that's another layer that's much easier than this one. At least to me.)
Problem:So far, several days of research have yielded almost no measurable progress. Information has apparently been inexplicably hidden behind a bunch of unexpected search keywords. Current Code as is:

View 3 RepliesI'm a VB beginner.I've been playing with Graphics.DrawString by watermarking a picture with a text string. The picture below to the left comes from PictureBox with a text string drawn with Graphics.DrawString. The font style used is Arial 48 points, regular, I think. The picture in PictureBox shows just as I configure. Great... The resolution of the original Terri Hatcher picture is 300 dpi (300 x 300). Exporting this picture with Graphics.DrawString, I get the picture below to the right. The text string appears a lot bigger than previously shown in PictureBox. It turns out that the text size varies, depending on the resolution of the original picture. That's kind of odd. I develop several graphics applications in a different environment and have never seen this sort of graphics.drawstring thing. Anyway,

now here is the weird part. When I save the image the filesize INCREASES..but the picture dimensions are the same Example... TEST.PNG 1.3KB, when opened up via picturebox/saved the image is now 2.3KB
not sure why...i even though I specify system.drawing.imaging.imageformat.PNG
samething with JPG... it actually SHRINKS it evenmore.. example 88KB jpeg.. saved as jpeg is now 47.7KB...

This Code results in copying the Image correctly but the original image is now 0kb
I have a image with a transparent background. I clone it, rotate it, and save it in a picture box. Works fine (in that I can see the original object overlaid on the background image below it). However, the original unrotated image is also superimposed on the .image layer *with* the rotated one. Try as I can, I can't stop it from appearing.
Curiously enough, if I change the image to non-transparent (a .bmp instead of a .gif, for example), I don't have the problem. Of course, I also can't see the background {:<(

I have a routine that creates a report which includes text and graphics. When I print to a PDF or printer the output looks great. When I draw the report on an image to save as a PNG, GIF, JPEG, etc. it does not look as good and I understand that is related to the 96 dpi native resolution. However, I made some modifications, and even though the graphics part of the image looks better, the text does not look as good as the PDF. I am creating the image using 300 dpi and text rendering is set at the highest quality.

Once this happens i click the manipulate image button and the image should be altered so that paris-steg.png has a message hidden in it. Then i have to decode that message. if I have an image in the dictionary that is pulled in from the RESX file..... my code replaces some if a name match occurs. imgDct(dKey) = Image.FromFile(aFi.FullName) so, now the dictionary has a file pulled in. it seems that this LOCKS the original file? so i cant edit it.. and replace it is there a way i can pull the image in without "Locking" the original?
