Using VB 2008, I have a form which includes a richtextbox which is bound to a database field. When i bind the datafield to the richtextbox, I get an unformatted display unlike the control in VB6. How can I bind the data from the database to the richtextbox so that it displays formatted?

View 2 RepliesAt run time my application gives an error of "Conversion from type "DBNull" to type "String" is not valid. In my form only one field - Add_info is an optional field which might be filled or not by the user. Before, I had an error when an apostrophe was used so i updated the code as highlighted below. This in return removed the apostrophe error but generated an error whenever there is an empty additional field.

I have a database that I would like to filter characters from anywhere in the field. Example the letter A is typed into textbox1 and in the grid every field that contains an A is show. Like dash, lap, trap, apple. Currently with the query I'm using it will just go from the beginning of the field. I get "Index was outside the bounds of the array". The code is as followed:

I need to add a new field to an Access database table, the user has filled the table with data, so I have to add the new field but to preserve the old data.
I have found the ALTER TABLE statement, but it gives me an error (ALTER TABLE is not a valid statement)
I done this in php+mysql with "ALTER TABLE People ADD Address TEXT NULL AFTER Name" (as an example)

The application has other functionality as well.If the user searchs for a previous record that has been stored in the Access Database, I query the Database (SELECT ... ) using an OLEDB Connection and then display the records on a Datagrid on my Form. Everything is working fine, however, the Column Headings of the Datagrid are the Field Names in my Database (FirstName, LastName,...) rather than Caption Values (First Name, Last Name,... )
I tried looking up the net, but most of the topics addressing a similar problems use DAO, and I understand that it is not completely supported in VB .NET. I am fairly new to VB .NET and I am not quite sure how to address the problem or where I am going wrong. I tried using FirstName.Caption but that gives a Runtime error (One or more parameters missing from the Sentence)

must use DAO to connect to the database so that you can expose the attachment field properties. When I try to open the DAO recordset I am getting "COM exception was unhandled by user code" with a message stating "Too few parameters. Expected 3". I am trying to 1) write code in VB2010 that will get a JPG image from a Access Database field and write the image to a PictureBox 2) write code which will write a JPG file to an Access Database field. I have already sucessfully coded this in VB6, without fully understanding what I was doing.

View 3 RepliesI'm trying to design a words game that's give you the first two letters from the word and you insert the rest to make a word (for now I'm just using "co" as example and I have just one table in the database for it). The word will be written in textbox to be compared to a database field. If the word exist in the field the word will be displayed in a label with blue color and the score will increased by one if not the word will be displayed in the label with red color. This should happen three times with three words and I have different label for each one.

I using MS Access 2003 Database with VB.NET.
I have wrote a SQL statement to insert the RichTextBox(RTB)'s text into the Access DB but got error saying syntac error. I cannot figure out what went wrong.
When inserting data for RichTextBox, i use the TEXT property- rtb.Text . usign rtb.RTF also got error. The data type in Access is :Memo ( to store larger size text ).

I have this richtextbox and displayed various text from .xml database. I need to format the text. For example when ever my vb code find string like 'the' in an .xml line it should display in italic as well as in blue color and so on for some other specific text.
