I'm trying to automatically insert commas after ever email in textbox1.text after the user imports a list of emails.Something like ..I want this to automatically occur after the user either drags n drops the emails into the textbox or copy n paste the emails into the textbox so that the user doesn't have to manually insert commas.

View 2 RepliesIn SQL Server, you have to put single quotes around strings. But, when trying to run a SQL command in VB.NET I get some weird behavior. If you do an INSERT with a parameterized String value that has a comma in it, it works fine. However, if running an UPDATE command with parameterized String values, it says "Incorrect syntax near ','.I'm lost as to why INSERT can accept commas without single quotes and UPDATE will not accept commas with, or without single quotes.

I want this part of my project to detect spaces because it can happen if the user puts in a certain value for on and that value begins with another it will not process. (ex. a.text = 123, b.text = 1234, then i get the outcome or "aa" and it should be "ab"
I'm using Visual Basic 11 (VS 11 Beta). I am having trouble finding, anywhere, how to delete all the spaces in a text box. Here let me give you an example: The user can load in a text file, that is fine. There is a button and when the user clicks it I want every single space in the file to be removed.
View 2 RepliesHi, I'm working on a program that reads text entered into a textbox and creates a list of items by separating entries by commas. Everything is working fine, except, because I am using an array to store the items in the list, I have a limited number of entries. This is only a problem because, as it is written currently, each comma counts as an individual entry. Therefore, users can enter ",,," for example, and it would use up 3 places in the array.
I'm looking for a way to check to make sure there is text after the comma before adding an entry. I've attempted to use the .substring command to check the character after, which works until it gets to the last character. Because there is no character after that, it will give an error.
Here is my code for extra clarity:
Public Class frmMain
Dim intCounter As Integer 'Stores the # of commas in the string
Dim Messages(49) As MessageProperties

Is there any way to remove the spaces at the end of text after it has been pulled out of an SQL Database. Ive tried timming but ive had no luck.

I am just wondering is there any way I could restrict entering spaces into a textbox, or how to check are there any spaces in the text? I do know how to remove them, so I would need to check or restrict
View 8 RepliesI have this program that outputs all the servers on a specific game. It outputs it to a text file. However, There is a lot of annoying spaces. This is kind of hard to explain, so I'll try to explain it. This is what The text file looks like.
Code:
173.81.220.139 2302
70.26.235.69 2302
24.26.119.209 2302
99.244.109.8 2302
190.234.169.198 27667
As you can see, they have these annoying spaces. What I want to do:
1. Get rid of the spaces, But keep the space between the IP and the Port.
2. After the spaces that are bad are gone, I want the program to output each single IP AND port To its own text Box. It doesn't matter is the textbox of the IP and Port are seperated, It can just be one textbox with the IP and port, with a space between them. Thats about it!! I have the GUI done, and the rest of the programming, all I need now is this.
Reformat without spaces > output each seperate line of text to a seperate textbox > TYTYTYTY
Is there a way for VB to send a command to the command prompt? Say, I wanted it to open a CMD box and send ipconfig into that box, what would that be?

Is there a way to set a textbox in vb such that it does not accept a space or a non-numeric character entered by a user? I am writing a program that has a textbox called "phoneField" in which the user should type in only numbers and if the user trys to type a non-numeric character or space, nothing should be displayed in the textbox. How could that be done?
View 3 RepliesI just changed a control on a form from a masked textbox to a normal textbox because I wrote my own code to validate the data. I'm trying to clear the leading spaces that were created for this column in an Access database using the LTrim function and it doesn't work for some reason. The column is " :30" in the table and when I LTrim it and save the changes, it's still " :30" , not ":30". Is that leading entry not a space character?

I need to write a program in VB 2008 express that takes an user entry from a textbox and strips out all the spaces, changes it to either all upper case or all lower case then checks to see if it is a palindrome. I must also include a loop structure and a decision structure. I have seen bits and pieces of code but I do not really know how to put them together. Basically I need it from the button click to the end. ?
View 3 RepliesI'm trying to print out a line in a text file. Here is the
Dim fileNumber As Short = FreeFile()
FileOpen(fileNumber, "input.txt", OpenMode.Output)
PrintLine(fileNumber, IM.XValue, IM.YValue, -IM.ZValue)
What it prints out in the "input" text file is:" 0.0 0.0-9.81" There is a white space in front of the first "0.0". Is there anyway I could eliminate this? I tried with WriteLine. It worked but you can only do for 1 value. If I have 2 or more you will have to do the " " to separate between values but I don't know how to make them equally spaced, assuming I might have different digits for each value
I'm writing a macro to let me replace the spaces in a string in my code file with underscores. I've gotten as far as finding the beginning and end of the string as instances of VirtualPoint. Now I'm trying to select from the first VirtualPoint to the second. And I can't figure it out. I know the VirtualPoints are correct, because I'm using MessageBox.Show to tell me their values when I run the macro. I just don't know the correct command to set the TextSelection from the first to the second. I've tried this: [Code]
View 1 RepliesI have a notepad I'm creating, but i've tried everything I could think of to replace a tab indent with spaces on keys.tab event. When I press the Tab key I want it to replace the tab indent with 4 individual spaces. Like as if I was to press the space bar 4 times, only that would be done automatically upon pressing the tab key on my keyboard.
I'm using a richtextbox control. I have a tab settings form, where I will be able to give users an option to choose how many spaces the tab key will represent. I just need to figure out how to replace the {TAB}.
so far, I have the number of spaces correct, but the last space in the series after pressing my tab key seems a bit larger than the rest of the spaces, and is not a real (normal) space character. That puts everything out of line when i'm typing on a new line. the characters don't line up vertically and when I press the space key however many times i've set the {Tab} key to represent, the tab key even though it should have the same number of spaces occupies a larger distance horizontally if that makes sense.
My program uses parameters from the calling program in this format
parameter1/parameter2/parameter3
parameter2 is a datafile path which may sometimes have a space like :
C:Program Files est company
I did this as a work around
Sub Main(ByVal Args() As String)
dim cArgs as string=""
Dim J As Integer
For J = 0 To Args.Length - 1
cArgs = cArgs & " " & Args(J)
Next
And then used the string split function. Is there a proper way to work with spaces?
I have a notepad txt file that has two columns of data. Vb reads data having one blank space (this is in column one) but ignores any other data beyond two blank spaces. in addition to being able to read the second column, I want to store the data thats in the column 2 in a separate string.
