Add One Single Item In Combobox After Populating It Form Database Table
Sep 7, 2009
i have imported names from database table into combobox..i want to add item"all" above all names..how can i just add one single item in combobox after populating it form database tabel.
I want to populate the combobox based on the selected item in the first combobox. The following code is written in vb.net 2008
Public Class Form1 Sub fillcombo() strsql = "select * from device" Dim cmd As New OleDb.OleDbCommand cmd.CommandText = strsql cmd.Connection = con [Code] .....
For this code I am able to populate the first combobox and when I select the specific item in combobox then the second combobox shows only the first element of that item.
In MS access 2007 I have created 2 tables: 1) Contains the device ex:computer 2) Contains the device and its parts ex: cpu, monitor so here the device has duplicate values Table names are device and parts.
I'm new to vb.net and I have what probably is a simple question, but one that I am stuck on. I'm trying to add a single item to a ca combo box at run time. For example, a user selects a category from the first drop down box at run time, say "Admin", I want to add a single item to the combo box below it: Not applicable.
I'm writing an app to print a list of beers that are currently on tap at the restaurant where I work part-time. We have 29 taps and dozens of different beers. I have 2 tables in a database (one with the "master list" of all the beers and an "on tap" one with one entry per tap). Each database entry includes fields for name, brewer, location, style and ABV. So far I've made a GUI with 29 combo boxes (one for each tap) and 2 buttons (one that opens a dialog box to modify the "master list" and one to print the list). The idea was to make it as simple as possible since the people who use it aren't great with computers and are often in a hurry.
Each combo box drops down the whole master list of beers and I'd like for the selected beer to be written to the corresponding index in the "on tap" table. My idea is to then extract the data from the "on tap" table and print it. I haven't done any coding yet, really, just drag-and-drop.It's frustrating since I know how I'd do the back end in C or C++, but not in VB. The reverse is true for the GUI.
I am populating a combobox with a list of names that are coming from a database. I would like to get the names to show up in the combo box in alphabetical order. [code] There is also another combobox I'm populating with text from a database. (as below). However, in the database, in the column I'm reading data from, there are a few duplicate rows and then when the combobox is populated, the same text can be seen 2/3 times. What can I do or add to my existing code, that will ensure that there is no duplication shown in the combo box? [code]
I am using MS Access Database. Now I have to update a particular cell value. Here is my code:
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Dim str As String Dim Presc As New System.Text.StringBuilder Dim prs As String(), j As Integer
[Code]....
This code updates all the cells in that column. I want to update only the particular cell having Case_ID = str Where I have to add the WHERE clause (WHERE Case_ID = " & str & "
I dont know how to dynamically populate a dataset based off the tables in an existing database.Once I can get the dataset to populate, I can then move forward with the next step of the project.
I have been creating a call management application and I am having a problem with something that I have spent weeks on trying to get working and nothing I try is working for me. My application is an MDI application written in VB.NET 2005 Professional, using .NET Framework 2.0. It uses a back end database using Microsoft SQL Server 2005.When the MDI application launches, a form is displayed to the end user asking for phone number (MaskedTextBox) and a partner name. The partner names are within a ComboBox.
When the end user types in the phone number and selects a value from within the ComboBox, s/he clicks on the start button. This then opens a second form. The phone number from the MaskedTextBox is to default in a second MaskedTextBox (this I am able to get working without issue.) The partner name selected from the ComboBox is to default on the second ComboBox. This is the part where I have been working on it for weeks and not able to get it to function.
The second form has many ComboBoxes, all of which pull down items from a particular table within the database. Some of them are editable and some are not. The ones that are editable are also auto complete Suggest/Append on the ListItems.I wrote a sub to handle the population of these ComboBoxes and also to handle if they are editable or not. All of this is working. However, my main issue is that I can't get the value on the second form to default to what ever was selected on the first form. I do not get any errors but regardless of what I do, the second form always stays as the first item in the list regardless.
The code I am using is as follows:
<CLSCompliant(True)> Public Sub PopulateDropDownListFromDB(ByVal cboName As Elegant.Ui.ComboBox, _ ByVal TableName As String, ByVal ColumnName As String, _ ByVal UseAutoComplete As Boolean, _ ByVal UseSQLDistinct As Boolean)
There is combobox and few textboxes. With the help of insert sqlcommand I can store textboxes values in the database. But with the same insert sqlcommand I need to store one more combobox selected item too.
I am trying to get a value for a textbox from a database according to the selected item in combobox. but i had this ex.message " there is no row at position (0) "i have filled the combobox droplist from the same database table as below!
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Dim connstrg As String = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;" & "Data Source=C:Documents and SettingshedrisMy DocumentsREGISTER.mdb;" Dim conn As New OleDbConnection(connstrg)
And this problem:+ I have 2 form. - Form 1 have 3 combobox with some item load from database Access.- Form 2 load data when change item at combobox form 1.
I have a simple windows form that i would like to send the values of a few textboxes and comboboxes to an rdlc report after saving them (I have VS 2005 standard, so no crystal reports) - it's as follows:
the textboxes are labeled length, width, height the combobox is labled unit of measure and contains two options - inches or centimetres the label has text of "your total cubic inches/centimetres is:" - followed by the unit of measure selected.the buttons are labeled save, calculate, print, print preview, and exit.Having said all of the above, the save, calculate and exit button code is easy enough and is good to go - it's print and print preview i'm stuck on the solution i'm after is to take those values and send them to an rdlc report that immediately prints (calls up the default printer dialogue) without preview or anything when the print button is clicked and also have a print preview function as well for when of course the print preview button is clicked. The report has already been created with the titles mentioned above..
I have a combo box on form1 which is linked to a table from my data base. I am trying to get the item selected from the combo box to be a label in form 2.
I have a combobox on a form which has data bound items, the datasource is a dataset called ShiftType that was created using the new data source wizard. The data consists of three columns ID, Name ,Description. Name is the display Member and ID is the value member. This form is called from a different form, a variable containing the shifttypeid is passed as a parameter. I am able to get this parameter across fine.
What I would like to be able to do is, match this parameter with the data in the dataset and find the row index and set that item as the selected item of the combo box. I am confused as to how to proceed with it. Also, I would like to add an extra item to the dataset apart from the items obtained from the database. This represents "NONE", i.e. so if the user doesn't want to choose a shift type they can use the None item. How do i add this without having to add a dummy value in the database.
I have 22 item in combobox which i want place in one table. Why the code below do not work? [Code] I try learn database program but the code add first combobox item 22 times! What wrong with concept I use?
trying to figure out out to make a combo box re-populate itself with values from its data bindings from an Access database.
I have my bindings in the combo box, and it pulls the right column from my table, and returns the proper value to a different table. Everything saves properly to all of the tables, but what i am trying to accomplish here is this...
I have a combo box, it is populated with a database column of "G/L codes" (by the way that is not the column name) the combo box shows these values without problem.
These codes exist in a table that is editable (basically so the user can add a G/L code to the list if one is missing), a button is supplied that opens a new form, which contains DB related text boxes, and a data binding navigator to look through the data base records, save, add new records, etc. When this form is loaded, the user can add a new record, save the info, and then close this form, which brings us back to the main form where the combo box is located that is populated with the values of this G/L code table, what I am trying to get working is updating this combo box now that a new G/L code has been added.
I have been looking for a solution for days, tried many forums, read all posts on this site that had a keyword of "combo box" and I can still find nothing. I have tried many code samples such as...
Private Sub Repopulate() Me.G_L_Code___DescriptionComboBox.DataSource = Me.Db1DataSet.GLCodes Me.G_L_Code___DescriptionComboBox.DisplayMember = "Combined" Me.G_L_Code___DescriptionComboBox.ValueMember = "Combined" Me.G_L_Code___DescriptionComboBox.Refresh() End Sub
have tried calling this when the combo box gets focus in the attempt to update the combo box every time it is selected.
Have tried reloading the table adapter as well when the combo box takes focus with the following
Private Sub G_L_Code___DescriptionComboBox_TakeFocus(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles G_L_Code___DescriptionComboBox.GotFocus 'TODO: This line of code loads data into the 'Db1DataSet.GLCodes' table. You can move, or remove it, as needed. Me.GLCodesTableAdapter.Fill(Me.Db1DataSet.GLCodes) End Sub
Honestly I'm at wits end trying to get this combo box to repopulate its values from the database. I don't get any error codes when running either, all my attempts simply do nothing
I am currently using microsoft access 2007 and vb.net 2008. The problem senario is this: I have a database-table that contains two columns, items, and the price of each item. I tried to drag this table to the form as a checkbox tool, but only one checkbox1 was diplayed. The table consists of four rows. My requirement is when I drag the checkbox I want to see the all items in the first column, i.e. four checkboxes that hold the same name as in the table in the database, and when I check one or more items to be able to use, in somehow, the price(s) to make some kind of calculations.
i have a databound combobox using VB2010 and MS access as the DB.. When i click on a button, the selected item in the combobox will be deleted from the database and no longer display in the combobox...

I am trying to import a bunch of excel 2003 files all with A:H columns and they are under the same headings etc. into a table in access 2003 database. This is a module in access im making. Im using a file search to look for every file that begins with Format (which they all do ) to get at all the files in the folder path. is there a more efficient way to do this? somehow select all files in a folder? and import each to the same table in access? The DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet seeems to take each file path individually so I'm not sure how to get each file name in the folder to import it.
I have this at the moment:
Sub Import() Dim db As Database Set db = CurrentDb
I have a combobox which populates information from a textfile, however I was wondering if it would be possible to only populate the fourth field? each field in the text file is separated by tab (space).
For example the text file has the following information
orange yellow blue brown green pink purple green yellow black red purple pink black neon green blue purple gold silver
The combobox I want to display brown yellow black gold I have the following coding in place however it shows all fields in the combobox.
What is the best way to populate a combobox from a database?I've looked at previous questions but they all seem more complex than my query.Data base table has just two columns, ItemId & ItemDiscription I just need itemId field to show in the combobox.
ie Connect to DB put data into dataAdapter fill dataset from dataAdapter (sql statement) Fill combobox from dataset
Private Sub UsernameEdit_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Dim sqlconn As New SqlConnection sqlconn.ConnectionString = "stuff"
[code]....
The combobox just populates with "System.Data.DataRowView" I know it is some command to read the correct data out of the table, is it setting up something like:
dim i as integer for i = 0 to CompanyNames.length-1 companyadapter.fill(companynames.rows(i)] next
