View 4 RepliesI want to be able to make my programme create a folder on startup. Basically by that, I mean whenever the programme is started up on a new machine, it will create a specific folder that later on, it can put files into. Also does anybody know how I can stop it from doing this every-time on a machine that its already created the folder on?

I have done quite a few google searches and have found nothing to interesting or useful but I did find out that there is two main ways of doing this registry or startup folder and im more pulled into the startup folder because I dont think that I yet know enough about controlling the registry to be confident of using code like that, so I fall to my other alternative using the startup folder to trigger my program, I read somewhere that this doessn not work for vista but im not sure of that. What I would like to as is how you actually create a shortcut as I cant really understand VB6 Code very well its all I could find.
i want the program to run on startup using the startup folder, NOT the registry.i cannot find anything on the startup folder.whenever people ask about the startup folder, all the replies are about the registry. i am beginning to think that the startup folder is some kind of government secret.
View 1 RepliesI was having trouble before editing the registry on a WPF application I'm working on, in order to get autostart to work, so I ended up creating a shortcut in the startup folder to automatically start the application. My problem is, that this not working on Windows 7 (and Im guessing Vista too). Here's my code. Does Environment.SpecialFolder.Startup not work on Windows 7?
Dim PathToStartupFolder As String = Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolder.Startup)
If File.Exists(PathToStartupFolder & "Application.Exe.LNK") = False Then
Dim ShellObject As New IWshRuntimeLibrary.WshShell
[code]....
how can I get the shared startup folder? My application is set to add a shortcut to the startup folder, but it isnly for that user, and I'd like it to automatically start for any user on the machine.I know you can do this by adding a registry key, but I'm having trouble getting my registry key code to work in this WPF app.
View 1 RepliesI am having an issue with my msgbox calls in vb.net 2010. See attachment. Notice the form icon in the top left of the titlebar. Is there a way to replace this icon with my application's icon? I have my app icon already set through the project properties. Barring that, is there a way to remove the icon completely? I've seen of VB.net msgboxs don't have an icon, so I'm not sure how it got there in the first place.

View 7 RepliesTo restore an application from "minimize to system tray" mode to "Normal" mode (visible) from another application, I am using "Showwindow" method of "user32.dll". The API is working as expected i.e. displaying the application on Normal mode. Moreover, I want to remove that application's System tray icon as soon as its mode changes from "minimize to system tray" to "Normal".I had tried using "Shell_NotifyIcon" method of "shell32.dll" by passing "NIM_DELETE" & reference of "NOTIFYICONDATA" but no luck. The API method declaration is as follows: Shared Function Shell_NotifyIcon(ByVal dwMessage As UInteger, ByRef pnid As NOTIFYICONDATA) As Boolean.

View 2 Repliesdoes anyone know how to remove another application's taskbar icon from the taskbar but leaving the window still visible on the desktop for the user to use? I need to do this during runtime using the window handle if that is possible,
View 1 RepliesI know there is a way to remove it for the system, but I don't want to remove the little arrow from the desktop icons, I only want to remove it in my application window I am making. Adding the registry hack removes it from my app as well as the desktop, yet I want to keep those on the desktop. Is there something I can add in my app that will allow me to remove them in my application only? I am showing the icons in a lsitview

View 20 RepliesI'm setting my application up for use with ClickOnce. I've got my own icon that I made myself that is associated with the application for the desktop or programs list but a default icon shows in the add remove programs list. If I'm using ClickOnce is there a way I can change the add remove programs icon to the one I want?
Alll the information about changing the add remove programs icon that I've found talks about dealing with the properties of your setup project. With ClickOnce you don't have a Set Up project like you do if you're using Windows Installer so I'm not sure how you change the add remove programs icon.
Are there any snippets which I may have missed that allow me to use the system folder icon? Not the icon for an association, because folders don't have extensions, or I'd go that route.
