View 1 RepliesI can hide my startup form (or make it appear hidden) on startup. I can start my app on windows startup--through registry values--if the user checks a checkbox.
But if the app starts up on windows startup, I want the form to be hidden, so the program can just keep working without bothering anyone. If it starts up because the user started it, I want the form to be showing, because the user probably wants to change some settings or something.
How to make an Application to startup at the system startup? and How to enable and disable?

I want to make an app which you make a password and username and use it for the app but I only want this screen to open the first time you load the app so after the first load it goes right to the login screen
[Code]....
why the code...
Form1.Controls.Remove(myCustomControl) ...does not remove the control.
Because whenever I remove a control and add it again, it does not Load but rather just changes its visibility from false to true and all the variables are not reloaded.
I tried to use .Dispose() but VB.net tells me thatit can't access a disposed object whenever I try to add the control again.
How can I add my application in startup items? I want my application to get added in startup when setup is run at Client's computer.
Also, how can it be automatically started after setup finishes?
As usual, I change the startup form under Application tab. At this time, it doesn't run my selected Startup form. Whatever I set to any forms or even excluding that form, it still runs the same form.

Using a splashscreen.
When the spashscreen is done, the main menu for the program appears.
The problem is that the main menu appears UNDER things already open on the desktop.
Always On Top could be the answer BUT if I do that, all sub-menus will be UNDER the main menu rather than stacked on top.
I continue to get this error when using the code samples from Cengage's book Zak's Programming with Microsoft Visual Basic 2008. I am running Visual Studio 2010.I am attaching the code below:

View 2 RepliesFor some time ago I have notice that my App on every start make a call to csc.exe and starts it. I have google-it and found out that csc.exe is some kind off on-the-fly compiler for C# (If I understand it correctly ) but my App is in VB.net. VB.Net code to make my App on every start calls csc.exe?
View 13 RepliesMy scenario is such that I have a VB.NET project in SVN and I am using the Application Framework to start the application. This poses a great problem when different developers are working on different forms and they want to have different startup forms. Right now if we change the project settings, its changed for everyone else too. How can we work around this? Can SVN have a class committed into the repository and later changes cannot be committed into it? (more like ignoring a file but with a initial copy in the repo)

I have an problem to assign a startup form in vb.net. I have three forms:
1) Registration Form
2) Login Form
3) Main Form
Firstly i have set set startup form as registration in properties =>Application after registration completed or saved i am displaying the Login form by hiding the registration form. and entering username and password it displays the Main form. Now the twist when i exit from application next time i started to run my project where i can check if their is entry in registration form it will directly goto login form.
I need to put following code in the Constructor of my startup form.
JohnKenedy.BusinessSQLEXPRInstaller _ins = new JohnKenedy.BusinessSQLEXPRInstaller(" _ <Installation Display Name>", "localhost", "<New database instance name>", _
"<new database name>", "<database password>", "<database backup filename>");
if (_ins.IsDone == false) _ins.ShowDialog();
if (_ins.IsRestart == true) {
Application.Exit();
this.Close();
return;
}
But I really do not know what the Constructor is and how to access it?
I am using VS2010 VB.NET, working on a solution that has a number of projects. I have been developing on it for a while now, and in an attempt to debug a custom class inherited from ObservableCollection (which by the way would not load symbols when debugging even though it was apparent that the breakpointed line was being called), I changed the startup object for the startup project to a different WPF window which I had a couple of controls that I set aside for debugging.Immediately I was confronted with 'Sub Main' was not found in . I tried changing the startup object back to the normal startup window, but now the Startup Object dropdown only has "Sub Main" as it's only option. I changed the StartupURI back in the App.xaml, to no avail.
