how to add together integers from the end of a list array based on certain criteria. example: a list of students assignments and grades, and im trying to add all of the grades from a certain student up based on the student id from the user.
the student table looks like this:

I have an issue in VB6 that is giving me a major headache. When using a variable defined as a single data type, VB6 will add random numbers to the number i assign to it.
For instance I have a single variable that is manually set to 0.3. Then i create another single variable and set it to 0.25. I have the program add 0.01 to the second variable until it equals the first. But they never equal. I couldn't figure out why when both were showing they equaled 0.3.

I have a string which contains html code from a webpage. There's a table in the code I'm interested in. I want to parse the numbers present in the table cells and put them in textboxes, each number in its own textbox. Here's the table:

As you can see there are 14 numbers. To make things worse numbers like 19 and 20 are replaced by images and numbers lower than 6 have a span class.

I have already binded a data source from Access to my visual basic program but need to add a True/False column to two of the tables. I could do this manually in access and re-bind the sources but that would take up too much of my time so I wanted to know if I'm using the proper code to add a column to the data table directly from VB? Im looking to add some information to a table in VB.net.The table needs 2 columns and a number of rows;1 Column needs to have numbers ranging from 1 onwards, basically representing their row number. And 1 more column which just displays any text when a button is pressed.
Each time the button is presed i need the text to go onto a new row.Ive heard alot about a DataGrid, but everything relating to this seems to be based with SQL and I was wondering if there is a differnet tool which would be simpler to use?
I am trying to add a new record to a Visual FoxPro data table using an ADO dataset with no luck. The code runs fine with no exceptions but when I check the dbf after the fact there is no new record. The mDataPath variable shown in the code snippet is the path to the .dbc file for the entire database. I want to type the data in the top cell, execute an event, have all of the data shift down, and then clear the cell that I typed the data in. I can't insert a row because I have calculations that are based on each individual cell in the list in adjoining columns. I can get this to work by inserting a row but can't get the loop quite right without doing it this way.

The problem emerged when I tried to retrieve data from the database with the help of SqlDataReader and save data from every row to a list (Customer) with the help of Add-method. It turned out that eventually the list had correct number of objects, but the information was the very same in each object of the list.

So how would I use .next (random numbers) to randomly select something from a list of numbers but it can't repeat the number?I could do:

I need to get a list of distinct names inside the data table and the sum of values for each one. I know some basic stuff about linq, but i don't know how to put the distinct and the sums together.
The SQL Query:

I currently have a list of words in a text file sorted in to alphabetical order and put into lower case, but I would like to be able to also display the line numbers on which these words are associated with.. but only one instance of.
For example,
"This is a random text
file that I
have just made
up this second"

As you can see above, I would like to show that "this" for example appears on line 1 and 4. Hopefully tabbed so that it keeps a nice look to it.
I am trying to create a simple Word doc that when the user presses the button it takes the information in the boxes and tosses it into a template style paragraph. But my issue is that I have two combo list boxes as seen in the picture. I want to have two values in the drop down list as seen in the labels next to them but for the life of me I can't figure out how to do this in Word 2007. In Visual Studio this is much easier but I am work and need to snap this out for the folks at work. Is there an option that I can choose in the properties where I type in the values for each drop down or do I have to add them in at run time?

I have a datagridview named Partcotdatagridview. In this datagridview, I have two columns. The first column has a combo box with some names in the data source such as John, David, Alex. I expect the result to be 8 (3-1=2 + 6) = 8 Instead I get 14. I understand the concept of precedent but how do I set it if I don't know if the number entered into textbox is positive or negative?

Now the array has 20 places, and the only method I know of atm is:a + b + c + d + e etc...They are all different numbers so I can't just do a * 20, I need a more code efficient way of adding all these numbers up, is this possible?
