I'm creating a program and i want it to secretly save when the user clicks on save.
In other words, i have made it so that it saves twice. Once for the user to read (like a fancy copy) and another that the program uses to open up the form.
Currently when pushed, 2 save dialog boxes come up after each other. I don't want this to happen. I want 1 to come up (the user friendly, fancy version) which is the easy part, but i also want the other 1 to save automatically and secretly without asking the user to set the destination.

in my form i have 4 textboxes and i want all not to be empty while saving the data.I have put condition in save button, when user presses the save button to save data, to check all the textboxes not to be empty. My question is that, i want to focus to that particular textbox which is empty during saving the data.
For example: i have txt1,txt2,txt3,txt4 as textboxes in the form if txt1 is empty while saving, the focus should switch to txt1 rather user himself have to go there.

I was developing my own project in the university so what i am stack is to have save button which firstly validates what the user enters the form. for instance if the user skips the text fields, i wanted to restrict the user to fill all the form and when he completes, the save must be accomplished.
Here's the code i was trying to put but i was having problem saying the windows.forms.etc is unable to convert the save as Boolean and something like that.
Dim success As Boolean
Private Sub Save_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Save.Click

I made my first app, a basic calculator, i figured something easy that i could make by self without copy/pasting. Now i have decided to make it like a little toolkit with a basic calc, word processor type thing. Now for right now i want it only used by me, so i used a Login form the Visual Studio 2008 so conveniently provided. My questions is how would I make a form where a user and pass could be created, saved in a database, and then when used, the user and pass could be called from the database?

I'm making a program in Visual Basic 2008, and I want the user to be able to save certain things on the form. Would it be a good idea to save the saves items to a .txt file in C:WINDOWS? The reason I'm wanting to do this is so the user won't easily find the file and it is easily done.

Private Sub Button2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)
'Creates a string that holds the path to your file.
'this path uses the Special Dir .MyDocuments
'so on my computer LogPath = "C:UsersTechNoHickDocuments"
'on your computer LogPath might = "C:UsersKirbyDocuments"
Dim LogPath As String = String.Format("{0} est", My.Computer.FileSystem.SpecialDirectories.MyDocuments)

I need my application, save the data for each user ... In short, whenever you start the program, it will do a check of these data.I had thought to save the data in an external XML file, but if this file will be deleted? Or use the registry and save the data using a registry key, as many programs (I think) save the activation (SN) of a program...

I have a program that takes data out of an excel worksheet and puts it into VB.NET datasets. The user can then manipulate the data using the windows forms application. At this point, I want the user to have the capability to save his/her data to some kind of file, email that file to a friend, and have the friend be able to view the same data with the windows forms application. I'm not looking for syntax, just a suggestion of a good way to go about this. Would the best way be to write to an access database and then use sql queries to get it out again? I've had a hard time figuring out how to write a dataset to access via VB.NET.
1. Start with Excel Data
2. Convert to VB.NET Datasets
3. Manipulate Data in form applicaiton
4. Save manipulated data in some type of file that can be sent to a friend
5. Friend opens manipulated data file in form application and can view and manipulate the data further

i have created a simple form which takes some input from the user. Now, I want that the input should be saved to my harddisk and can be seen later as well. Can you please tell me how to save the inputs as a record on my harddisk.
I mean the first time the form appears, it has four options. All the four options will be a record. The next time the form is re-loaded, then the same four fields will have data for someother client. It should be saved as another user.

I am currently wokring on a project, which is going to serve as an interface for accessing various documentation and reports. It is basically just a tabcontrol with a few pages that will be poppulated with buttons which will open the appropriate document.I am trying to allow administrative users the ability to add new, edit or remove buttons which all seems relatiively simple, but have run into the problem of how to persist the changes once they are made. I want the setting to be stored centrally, either in a SQL table or on a network share

I have created a program in Visual basic 2010, the program contains many different objects e.g. datagridview, textbox, buttons, graphs etc, which can all be modified by the user. The user can also select a file using 'SaveFileDialog'.
Is there a way to save all the properties associated with each object to this file and later load the program back to exactly the same state it was saved in, after the user has selected saved file using 'LoadFileDialog'? Preferably in binary.
I can do this the hard way in ASC11 format by interrogating objects user editable properties and saving them. I would rather not use this method as it will require a lot of code and any future program changes will require a lot of extra work.
