I'm trying to allow a user to type in all and/or part of a persons name, which is held in an array, that will yield a parallel array result in the form of a phone number. Here is what I have:

I want to make something thats quick & will allow me to see someone elses screen at 60fps/30fps on LAN since LAN is really fast or 10fps/30fps/60fps over internet. Of course depending on the the computer & internet speeds & everything it will vary how good it works but i'm trying to do it over computers with really fast network/internet speeds & computers, other ways to do it given to me have been really slow, I couldn't even make my app display the picture at even as much as 10fps & that was without sending it over for another computer to display & displaying it in the same application.

However when I want to display both the height in order with there name I can't. The heights are sorted in order but the names just appear in the order they were entered. How do I make the right name appear next to the height?

I have created an application that has a webbrowser, two radioButtons, button1, and a menustrip.The menustrip has two main heading and under each heading are about 15 Tool Strip MenuItem. The ToolStripMenuItem properties are set to CheckonClick and an example of forum1. vb code for this section of the application is:[code]What I need is for the user to be able to add his/her own ToolStripMenueItems to those already present, along with the base url.So that clicking Button1 sends them to the base url And also have the Radio Buttons automatically add the extensions to the base url when the RadioButton is clicked.They need to be able to do this from the application itself.But I'm not sure how to code this in.They will not have VB to make modifications.
View 1 RepliesI need something tje user can type in data to such a parts QTY cost etc. There are no predefined parts list so the user can enter any part name/Number and there is no limit to amount of parts that can be entered.
Does anyone have any idea what might be useful. It was thinks of a listview bu i can't see that you can type into that. I cant use comboboxs because there are no predefined list and i know there is some way to generate text at runtime (i think) but i don't know how to do it and i would prefer a clearer approach.

View 2 Repliesim making an application in vb.net (duh!) anyway i have created and coded the whole project and it performs exactly as i want it to (i dont need code help). my problem lies with the fact that my project is 2-3 parts
1.a setup form that gathers inital data about the enviroment stores this data encrypted in a config file. after inital setup this form is not displayed again. but needs to be run on both computers
2. the second form is the real application form im in the process of turning this part in to a background service anyway this form is the one that establishes the connection between two nodes it works correctly
3. the config files
anyway here is my problem i want to make this application distributional with just one file the (.exe) and have this .exe make everything else happen. it runs the setup form and creates the first config file which it does then it needs to produce a copy of just the second form and the config file to transfer to workstation #2 that will run independtly without the whole application which i cant make happen then it needs to turn both workstations application on by only starting one on either computer and invoke the other computer to start its corrosponding app also no idea how to make this happen any ideas or suggestions as to where to look to try to find my answers.im thinking i might need to make two seperate applications (a setup app, and the running app) and include them both in a project and use the setup.exe to to package them together this is a little side project that im making for my self to use to make programming a little easier so i plan on giving it out to some fellow students to test and tell me what they think so im not really worried about ease of use or complicated procedures yet but if it turns out to work and actually be of use to anyone else i would be willing to rewrite it to distribute to the masses but for now i just want it to work for me.
Ive done a login in vb.net (Visual Studio) which works like a charm. However, i need to store the username of the person that has logged in, in some form of cookie. How can i store the persons username in some form of global "cookie"? It will be cleared when they log out or the program closes PS. I dont literally mean a web cookie - just not sure what else to call it. Just a global variable which will store the current user.

I created a Login system using the Login Form from VB 2010 and connectected to a DB table called "Useri" with 4 columns: "ID_U" , "UserName" , "Password" , "UserType". The login form works to authentificate user, and my application starts. My app has 5 buttons and i want them to be restricted by user type
If admin - full acces
if Operator - 1 button(that leads to a form with 4 textboxes that edit a row from a database)
if guest - 1 button that leads to a form with a datagrid
So, if a guest user clicked a resticted button a msgbox appears.

Okay, I will be using Username &'Type' through out my project to verify certain things. On workbook open, I grab the username. Now I want to put the username list and type into a public array. The username list has a range name of UID and the type has a range name of UIDType. The combined list has a range name UIDCo. Which will be more 'resource' friendly? To load UID into one array and UIDType in another or to load the UIDCo into one all encompassing array? I will very rarely use either list alone, it will almost always be a combination of UID and Type verification.
2nd question is, I've only really used 1 dimensional array's before, any help on where I can research more about multi-dimensional arrays. I can pretty much figure out the what it does and how to use them. I'd be more interested in the actual syntax or coding samples.

How do I determin if a user has given me what I am asking for in terms of data type.
Example if my prompt to the user say "Give me a number of double data type"
How can I tell that the user entered a double xx.yy?
Or if I am testing for integers and I get user input ABC.GH?
I know about CDbl and CInt and CStr but these don't work unless data is provided. Also how do you test if the conversion took place? Also how do you differencate between 12.00 being integer?

The possible actions would be "no action", "run timer", and "stop timer." I could do this with an integer (e.g. 0=no action, 1=run timer, 2=stop timer), but I'd rather create a data type so that the options are more explanatory than a simple integer. Like so....
