Array To Retreive a string from A Line In A Txt File?

im using an array to retreive a string from a line in a txt file this is great the first time round but when i try to use the process again to update the textbox is doesnt work do i have to purge the array or some thing? im using the same script just mapping back to it so nothings changed ive tried using a second array with the same commands but different declared names and that doesnt work either Dim lines As String() = IO.File.ReadAllLines("C:myfile.txt")

I am trying to convert each line in a file into a byte array. The line in the file is similar to this:

what i need to do is open a txt file, read line by line, decode each line into an array and display. Now all works ok apart from one line.

I've never had to work with them before, and I think I've got everything down except one big thing: I'm setting it up so that different settings have different values depending on what file is being read. I need to know how to tell vb to take a specific item in an array and make the setting equal to it. I know how to make it read the file and add each new line into the array, just need to make sure I'll have to correct method to get the item in the array to match up the setting.

I used to do a bit of coding in early versions of VB years ago but moved on to things like RPG400, CL and SQL on an AS/400 box. As I am no longer in this career, I havent touched an AS/400 for a while either.
I am currently working on a visual basic console application in Visual Studio 2005 which takes various csv files from an osCommerce web shop, processes them and writes the data to TAS Books accounts software with the aid of the Infoplex COM module.
I have 2 functions, one reads each line of a csv file into an array, and the second function uses Regex to split the lines array into the various fields before they are added to a structure.
There are something like 5000 records (lines) in the csv file, one example is as follows;

My problem is that due to the formatting of the product description in the example csv line above, it fails the Regex match and therefore fails to read.
I know this is because my pattern is wrong, but I'm not sure how to solve it, I think all I really need is for Regex to split the line by the "," between each element, this might be a little difficult because some of the descriptions contain both , and " but never one after the other.

I thought you could use a structure as a container. I have line_1 with a line of data read in from a file. I only want to Look in position 1 of the line and position 8 for 9 and position 31 for 11. If I create a line_2 with the parts broken out for pieces that I want to look at then I could use a with statement right?

The code below reads each line from a file and if the conditions become true it adds the contents of the file from the particular line and after into a string collection (i.e. the All contents). This is what at least what the code should do as the current one only adds the line that it encounters into the string collection.

We're converting a Classic ASP site to an ASP.NET site. One function was to upload a 'template' of data in CSV format for importing into the database. There were several different record types in there (the first field always indentifies the type of data).The task was to get the CSV into a DataTable so it could be validated (new project is to have MUCH better validation rules)
The code seemed pretty straightforward - watered down (taking out comments, Try/Catch, etc) it is as follows:

The DataTable (dtData) is populated, but only starting with the second line of the CSV file DESPITE the fact that "HDR=No" is in the connection string.

I have a text file (CSV) approx 100k lines (8Mb). I want to search the entire file for a particular string eg, "apple" and for all lines containing the string to be printed in a text box. have successfully done this using streamReader to parse the CSV and check each element against the search word eg. apple. This has proven to be very very slow and I have read that the "ReadAllLines" method is much faster.
