Asp.net - .NET: Accessing Static MVC Controller Method From View?

I've got an .aspx page with this in it:
<%@ Import Namespace="System.Web.Mvc" %>
<%= AssetController.ScriptTag("/js/Community/CommunityWizard.js")%>
And I have an AssetController class:
Imports System.Web.Mvc
Public Class AssetController
Inherits Controller
[Code]...
What gives? I don't understand why I can use this controller everywhere in our ASP.NET Forms/MVC hybrid application, but not in a view.
EDIT: In fact, when I type <% System.Web. into the .aspx view, Mvc doesn't even appear in Intellisense!

I made a project where I have a basic DemoController[code]...
I should probably mention that my .aspx file is in another project than the web app. I build everything into a dll then put that into a folder in my web app project. The error I am getting is "The view '~/Views/Demo/Index.aspx' or its master was not found or no view engine supports the searched locations. The following locations were searched: ~/Views/Demo/Index.aspx"

I am wondering what I am missing in the attached code that is making it impossible for me to make the VB.NET program below work using MVC (Model-View-Controller). Right now, I am really lost despite my best efforts...

I have built an application a while back and now think that performance would benefit from a MVC approach, so I am looking into that. If I were going to do this, I would need the controller to be able to replace itself. That seemed like it may be a problem, so I created a Hello World application to test it. Here's the

I have 2 questions:Will the 'old' controller objects still be in memory? Seems this could be a serious memory management issue after a lot of changes. It was my own decision to implement the factory in a module. My examples did not do this.

I am writing my first MVC application, and struggling with how best to pass data from my controllers to my views. I have a very simple XML document structured like this. (Yes, this is Magic: The Gathering data)

But I get an Object Block or With Block error when trying to access SelectSingleNode("block") on the second "set" node, since that node doesn't have a "block" node.I also have a feeling that the way I'm approaching the view is all wrong. Is there a better way to get this simple XML data into the view so I can work with it?

I have an MVC application where all the data is tied together by VisitDate table in my database. The home page is a strongly typed view of type VisitDate, all it does is pull up some simple data. Now, here's where I'm having a problem. I need a link that passes the current model in the view back to a separate controller action so I can render a different page with different data. Wondering what is the best method of viewing a pdf, and adding text to the pdf, then printing it out? Currently, I opened the pdf in Photoshop, saved it as a bitmap, made it the background image on a form, overlayed it with labels, and am using the form.print method. This isnt exactly the best way to do this. Does anyone else have any good suggestions (without spending more than say $40)?
Project Background:
I work for an aircraft manufacturer/maintainer, and every time we have a broken/removed part, I have to log into our part logistics website, then hand write a form with all the installed and broken parts info (a full page). My program parses all the necessary info from the website, then loads it into textboxes (to be modified if needed) which are then copied into the labels overlaying the image of the form I have to fill out.

I'm creating a Shared (static) method in ASP.NET MVC so it can be used by any controller in my project. This static method needs to generate a URL. I think I need to use System.Web.Mvc.UrlHelper, but I can't figure out how to call it from within a static method.The constructor seems to want a RequestContext.

I have some files in vb.net that have "Option Strict Off" to allow for bad programming. When I convert to c# I use "dynamic" until I come back and fix problems, and this works in all cases But now I have this code:
Public Class ContractResults
'Big class definition
Public Shared Sub CleanCache()

And in a file with Option Strict Off:
Public Sub VerifyResults(result as Object)
'Here, result is normally ContractResults
'first it check for that then call this:
result.CleanCache()
End Sub
In c# I use "dynamic", but a runtime error pops up when I call "static" method with dynamic reference. In vb.net, I can called "shared" sub from instance, but in c# this is not allowed
Exception:
"Microsoft.CSharp.RuntimeBinder.RuntimeBinderException"
"Member 'ContractTypes.ContractResults.CleanCache()' cannot be accessed with an instance reference; qualify it with a type name instead"
It seems I must convert code to use actual type, but then this means much rewriting of more parts. Is anyone able to show another way?I want to make sure you do not think I can use (result as ContractResults).CleanCache();Because all types that may be passed in have "CleanCache()" method, but do not inherits from anything the same other than "Object". There are many types (30!) that have this "static" method and so that is why it uses Option Strict Off?

In Visual Studio 2010, create a VB.net Windows Forms App. Add 2 forms: Form1 and Form2. In the Form1 Load event type Form2.Close(). Now if we look in the method definition Close() is not a static (shared) method. So how is this possible to compile or to work at run time.
Furthermore, do the same thing in C# and Form2.Close(); doesn't compile.
What's going on? Why is this possible in VB.net and what is actually happening when that line of code is executed?

I hate to see the name of the class used as a string parameter like "FileDownloader" in the code, and I would like to use something like this FileDownloader.Name(), where FileDownloader is name of the class.Only problem is that I can't find out how to do that without instantiating object or creating a static method..Is there a way to get a class name in .net without having the object instance and without creating a static method that returns the name of the class?

Is it possible to prohibit an instance of a class from calling a shared/static method?
For example:
I want to allow this:
ClassName.MethodOne()
But I want to disallow this:
Dim A As New ClassName
A.MethodOne()
The reason this is desirable is that in this case it is semantically confusing if an instance can call the method.

Under Visual Basic 2010, I am trying to define a specific instance of a static method that was created as a Java class. I have a vendor supplied dll added in as a reference.[code]...
But, I can't seem to define a specific instance of this method. Using "IntegrationMethod.getIntegrationMode()"always returns a value of zero.
There doesn't appear to be any way to "setIntegrationMode" to a specific value.
The documentatoin for this Class as provided by the vendor are shown below.
When I asked the vendor for assistance, their response was: "

however i get this error: MyClass is valid only within an instance method. I do not wish to use the actual name of my class, and if i could i would prefer to keep the name of the argument as bug_message as well.

Is it possible to view every process that is accessing memory as well as windows services as well as how much thier accessing I want to make a program that can kill and block things accessing memory to block malicious programs to be able to delete the ie spyware that can't be fixed cause it adds it's self and locks it's self. From programs like spybot I can view the processes bit that's just wat windows registeres I need to look at eat is accessing memory.

I have created an application which will open a text file on the click of a button, when i am running the application in local, I am able to get the popup asking to open or save the text file, I uploaded the same code to live site there it is not displaying the popup to open or save the text file. It just flashes a window for fraction of seconds and then closes, user is not able to perform any action in that course of time. Text document which I am trying to open is available at both server and local, and path is also correct in both cases.
Below is the code I am using to open the text file:

I have been trying to convert a test from NUnit to MSTest, using VB.Net 2.0. However, I get the following message:"Method AntecedentImportFixture.FixtureSetup has wrong signature. The method should be marked static."When I change the method to Shared, I get a message that says ""cannot refer to an instance member of a class from within a shared method" on a private variable that I am trying to reference. How do you get around this "static" issue while using MSTest in VB.Net?

I ran into a strange issue over the weekend while I was working on an asp.net mvc project in vb.net. I created an extension method to convert an integer to the corresponding month it is associated with. I tested the extension method in a console application so I know it is working.
In my asp.net mvc project I have a view and want to call the extension method but I get an error that the extension method is not recognized. I imported the namespace it was contained in and still couldn't shake the error.
