I am trying to limit this list to rows which have unique Dates and unique quantities in LINQ. I want to remove items with the HIGHER priority leaving rows with unique dates and qty's.
I have tried several group by's using Max and order by's but have not been able to get a result.
Is there any way to do this via linq?

I want to populate a checkbox field in a gridview.
I am using the Checked='<%# Convert.ToBoolean(Eval("Inactive")) %>' statement but the issue that I am facing is that in the database some records contain NULL for Inactive. If it encounters a 0 or 1 value it works fine but if NULL it throws an exception.
Kindly guide me how to populate the checkbox so that it should be unchecked even if the field is null.

I'm using an access database in a program that I'm making for my school, the user is able to select an item from the menu, then it sends it to a list box, there is also a textbox to put a quantity of how much of the item you want. View 1 RepliesWhat I'm trying to do - VB 2005 express and sql 2005 express editions - Trying to set up just a basic hardware/software inventory program. As is I've got separate tables for computer and software licenses...with ComputerID and LicenseID primary keys respectively...where I'm bumping into walls is that I wanted to be able to link them together with a foreign key, for example the computer record would have a foreign key for LicenseID and when a license would get installed the ID would go in and there'd be a nice pretty link. However I run into scenarios where a computer might not have any software installed...or might have more than 1 software item. Or a single software item may be installed on 1 computer, multiple computers, or nowhere. It possible to have that single foreign key field link to multiple records from the opposite table?
What was originally suggested to me was to have a 3rd table called Installations. It'd have 3 rows...one named InstallationID as the primary key, and 2 foreign key rows named ComputerID and LicenseID that linked to the other tables, so that when a license was installed, a record would be added to the Installations table, and later on when we wanted to see where all a particular license was installed or what licenses a single computer had, the table could be filtered by computer ID or license ID and all matching records could be displayed. When I tried that out though I'm having a heck of a time getting the correct items to display.
Just as a basic test i set up a new form and dragged the tables onto it from the Data Sources window using "Details" view for each of them, so that it set up the table adapters and binding sources and navigator for me. I got rid of the auto-added labels + textboxes on the form and added just a couple new textboxes, 1 linked to the licenseID and one to another row i had in that table for productkey...tested it and it moves through the records fine and the correct data shows up in each box to correspond with the other. now though I'd like to add another control to display each of the ComputerIDs that are linked to the particular license being displayed in the other controls via the foreign keys routing through the Installations table, but I'm not having much luck.

View 2 RepliesI am using Visual Basic in Visual Studio Express 2008. I am creating a form that works with an Access database which has five tables, though for purposes of my problem I will only mention two of the tables: Customer and Project.
The Customer table contains basic customer info, with a unique ID auto-number. The Project table describes relationships between two customers. There is a Primary ID number and a Secondary ID number, both of which correspond to an ID number from the Customer table. Any given ID number can exist as a Primary or Secondary ID, so if "Bob's Company" ID is 1, and "Fred's Company" ID is 2, there can be two projects, one having "Bob's Company" as Primary and "Fred's Company" as Secondary, and the other vice versa.
The user navigates through the Customer table by means of a combo box. They choose one customer name from the box, which populates a label with that customer's ID number. I have a View Projects button with the intent that once the user chooses the company, they can click View Projects and a DataGrid will appear which contains only the records from the Project table in which this specific Customer number appears (either as Primary or Secondary). So basically, with all that explanation, I'm trying to figure out how to get the View Projects button to take the CustomerIDLabel.Text and use that to populate the DataGrid.[code]...

I have an editable ComboBox with a validation on the Text property to make sure manually entered info is valid.EDIT: All I want to do is populate the .Text property with the ValueMember of a selection rather than the DisplayMember I also have the .Items populated with valid entries having the DisplayMember and ValueMember set.My DisplayMember is a caption along with the data, and the ValueMember is the data itself.So Items might be:

The user can manually enter something like "5ef6" which will pass validation.But when they select an item from the list, rather than manually entering it, the .Text property gets filled with the caption and not the value ... so it will contain "Foo - 1ab2" and that will fail validation. I cannot change the validation method to "infer" the value from the caption. I have no control over that service. All I'm after is the displayed value EDIT: Say a user selects "Foo - 1ab2" from the dropdown list, I want the text in the box to say "1ab2" EDIT: I have also tried to set the .Text property in code but I can't seem to make it work in any of the ComboBox events. how to programmaticly set the .Text property (and make it commit!) on a selection event they will also answer this question.
