example, I have clicked on a button, the button event is carried out normally, but if I refresh the page by pressing F5 key the same event is fired again.
I've written some code to handle an event as follows:
AddHandler myObject.myEvent, AddressOf myFunction
It seemed that everything was working at first, but when I ran the debugger, I discovered that oftentimes, myFunction would run several times each time myObject.myEvent fired. I figured out that I had allowed the code to add the event handler to run more than once, resulting in this behavior.
Is there a way I can do something like this?

Check out this code. Basically, the event frmStart.Next_Clicked() is not being handled in the class MappingWizard, and I'm not sure why.

I am trying to add to items to a combobox by using the "enter" key. It does work when I add the first item, but if I manually clear the box and add another items it does not get added to the list.
(1) I click in the combobox and type "hello" and press the "enter" key
(2) I click on the dropdown arrow and see that "hello" is in the list
(3) I select "hello" in the box and erase it, item is still in the list
(4) I type "goodbye" in the box and press the "enter" key
(5) "hello" is still in the list but "goodbye" is not

if I comment the if/end if line and type "hello" the items added to the combobox list are: "h", "he", "hel", "hell", "hello" wich makes sens since the add items is run on every keypress? I know that my commands for adding items is good, I know that my keypress event is handled properly but not when I specify using the "enter" key.
I discovered that an event raised (directly on indirectly) in the constructor cannot be handled outside the very class. To prove if that was the actual problem, I wrote a simple exemplary app.

View 7 RepliesI call .show() and .hide() on a form and then I want to determine the current state. I've been checking .visible to determine if the form is visible, but I've stumbled uppon a problem. My form is being rendered inside a SplitContainer which I collapse each time I hide the form. So, by logic once I hide the form with .hide() it is no longer visible, and since I have collapsed it's container, even if I call .show() it would still NOT be visible couse it's container is closed.
So, how can I simply check if .show() has been called rather than checking if the form is visible.
The final goal is to show() / hide() the form along with collapsing / un-collapsing the container.
P.S.: I know I could simply check the container and show the form accordingly, but my form also supports detaching from the container, so that wont work for me.

I'm writing a Repeater Control in an ascx file which renders some info as a row that comes from a complex search. In an aspx file I have the query to retrieve a DataView that gives me the XML string with the info needed to feed the Repeater. The problem is that I don't know how can I pass the XML string (or the DataView or DataSet) from the aspx to the ascx file so as I can render the info.

I can access the ascx itself, but none of the controls on the ascx are available. I have tried adding a simple public variable and also tried adding a public property to the ascx, but I am unable to get access to either of them at design time (compile errors). I have an ASP.NET page (WebForm) on which I set the content of a central DIV by dynamically loading one of five user controls during Page_Load, dependant on the stage of the application.
One of the user controls contains radio buttons and a text box together with a submit button. What I want to do is process that information when the form is posted using the submit button.
I could do this with an AJAX call using jQuery, but I don't really want to do that, so I'm trying to access the form data on postback, but on page load following the postback the data is not present in the Request.Form object.
Looking at what I need to do it seems pretty simple and I'm sure is once you've got your head around it, but I can't find out how to carry this out. Some of the things I have read refer to event bubbling, but that doesn't make too much sense in this scenario.
EDIT: To clarify, I want to post the page back to itself to capture the values from the form elements via the Request object, store them in the database, and then display a confirmation message (or something else) on postback, and not re-display the same control again. So I won't be loading the same user control again.

Can you look at my coding and let me know what I'm missing or doing wrong?I have a SSRS report that is called from a ReportViewer control and the ProcessingMode for this control is Remote. The report also has 1 parameter in it's DataSet.In the code I placed a MsgBox to make sure the code is finding the parameter and returning the parameter name. I am trying to stick the value of 10 into the parameter for playerID 10. Data for this player does exist.
I believe I need to add some more code to make this work but I'm not sure what else to add.
When the code executes the report is displayed but no data is shown in the report.

When the MAIN FORM loads the POPUP FORM, on the FRMPOPUPCUSTOMER-FORMLOAD even, it has to set the MAIN FORM Visible to False.
When FRMPOPUPCUSTOMER FORM IS UNLOAD it has to set the MAIN FORM Visible = TRUE.
How to the coding is to ensure that different MAIN FORM when loaded FRMPOPUPCUSTOMER it will turn the MAIN FORM Visible to FALSE.
I'm seeing some strange behavior where the RunWorkerCompleted event for one of two threads I start isn't being called depending on how I call them. Check out the code below, and the two methods of firing the threads, good() and bad().

In both cases the DoWork event is called for both threads. But in the bad() case, only the second thread fires the RunWorkerCompleted event. This is obviously due to the two different ways I'm using VB to handle events here. I'm looking for an explanation of this behavior, preferably with a link to some documentation that could help me understand how these events are being handled in VB better. It seems strange to me that just reusing a variable name here seems to either dispose of the thread before it's done or else just make it stop firing events.
What is an "EASI" LinkButton? Why don't you just use an ASP.NET LinkButton? Try modifying your JavaScript method so that it returns "true" if you want the postback to occur...and "false" if you want it to stop. Then change the LinkButton to so that it "returns" the value that is returned by the JavaScript method... This should stop the postback from occurring (but then again I've nevers een an EASI LinkButton before.......)

I was having a problem with the debugger not stopping at breakpoints. After a lot of work that yielded no results, I realized that the problem was occuring in the form's load event and subs called from that event.
The problem is that it appears that the load event is not being called. Other startup forms in other projects in the solution seem to be working ok.
what could be keeping the the Load event from working?
I got a combobox, that when the texted is changed, its supposed to run a query to update a field in my database. Here is the issue The event im using is TextChanged, well unfortunately when the page loads, it changes the text when populating the values. Is there a way to make this event wait to fire until after the list is populated? Ive ran into this problem before with datetimepickers, but I was able to offset it with a boolean, but this combobox is calling the textchanged event everytime it adds an item to the list.
