If this is not possible, or is a very bad idea, what is the recommended method for deploying a web user control amongst multiple applications?(I like how easy it is to utilize Ajax Toolkit controls from a single DLL, although I'm not sure if those are custom controls or web user controls)
View 1 RepliesI have an ASP.NET page (WebForm) on which I set the content of a central DIV by dynamically loading one of five user controls during Page_Load, dependant on the stage of the application.
One of the user controls contains radio buttons and a text box together with a submit button. What I want to do is process that information when the form is posted using the submit button.
I could do this with an AJAX call using jQuery, but I don't really want to do that, so I'm trying to access the form data on postback, but on page load following the postback the data is not present in the Request.Form object.
Looking at what I need to do it seems pretty simple and I'm sure is once you've got your head around it, but I can't find out how to carry this out. Some of the things I have read refer to event bubbling, but that doesn't make too much sense in this scenario.
EDIT: To clarify, I want to post the page back to itself to capture the values from the form elements via the Request object, store them in the database, and then display a confirmation message (or something else) on postback, and not re-display the same control again. So I won't be loading the same user control again.

I need some input on what I'm doing wrong. What I have so far is an order form program where customers input their information and what they want to buy. Now, what I'm trying to do is take the customer information, store it in an array, write the customer information to a file, and then when I open the order form, it loads the customer information file and automatically fill in a display box on another form with all the customers and the information.I want each customer in a file to be stored on one line. Like so: (Name, address, city, state, zip)

Then when the file is read, to read it, and add each name to a structured array (customers(NumberOfCustomers).Name, customers(NumberOfCustomers).Address, customers(NumberOfCustomers).City, customers(NumberOfCustomers).State, customers(NumberOfCustomers).zip).
After it has all been added to the array, all customers in the file, I want to loop through the array and display each customer on a new line in a listbox, which opens in another form.So far, everything works IF I don't write to a fail. If I store the customers in an array and use a loop to display the customers in the listbox, all is well. However, when writing to a file and trying to read it back into the array is where I've hit a problem. The following code seems to work well, however, it just reads the first line over and over as many times as there are lines in the file, and displays all those using the loop. I just need a way to loop through the lines and store each line into each structured array for each customer, instead of read the first line 12 times over into 12 different places in the array.

I need a nudge in the right direction. I have a user control that has the main form and it calls a secondary form to gather some additional information in some cases. I need to pass the information back from the secondary form to the primary user control form so I can validate the data and save. In the secondary form, I have the following code:

I have tried creating two public properties on the user control and setting them, I have created two properties in the user control form called OperationComments and OperationDate. I can set both of them, but when I close or hide the form and go back to the main user control form, the values for these properties or variables are not set. How do you set the values on the main form from a calling form within a user control?

I'm writing a Repeater Control in an ascx file which renders some info as a row that comes from a complex search. In an aspx file I have the query to retrieve a DataView that gives me the XML string with the info needed to feed the Repeater. The problem is that I don't know how can I pass the XML string (or the DataView or DataSet) from the aspx to the ascx file so as I can render the info.

I can access the ascx itself, but none of the controls on the ascx are available. I have tried adding a simple public variable and also tried adding a public property to the ascx, but I am unable to get access to either of them at design time (compile errors). I am upgrading user control from vb6 to vb.net.In the vb6 application I am loading 3000 labels using a label control array.In vb.net I am doing same but it's taking too much time to load.In vb6 it's taking 1-2 seconds, but in vb.net it's taking 30-40 seconds for same work. Now I no you can pass any type into an object type but when I pass an integer array into an object array I get an error.

I am trying to pass a 2D array into a dll I wrote in C. When I run the program, it crashes at the first line (in the dll) that I try to read the array. It gives an error that it is trying to read protected memory. I'm guessing this means the array was not correctly passed to the dll, so the program is trying to read a memory location that doesn't exist. Is the problem somewhere in my VB code? If not, it must be in my C code, right?

I am using Visual Basic .NET 2005 and I need to call a DLL made in VB6. Couple of days ago i wrote a test dll in VB6 and called it from VB.NET. I passed an array and another variable. And the dll got it and displayed the values in the array. (I didnt save that code)Now when I am writing it again I am getting an error "Specified array was not of the expected type." I have an old program written in VB6. I upgraded the program with VB 2008. The updated program works fine except when the program tries to transfer an array to another subroutine. The old VB6 program sends arr(0) as an argument to the subroutine, the address of arr(0) is passed to the subroutine. The array arr() address is the first of a block of consequent addresses one by one, arr(1), arr(2), etc.
Now when running VBnet, the address of arr(0) is not the first of all consequent arr(1), arr(2), etc. It is an isolated number, just like if arr(0) were a variable instead of an array. The addresses of arr(1), arr(2), etc do not exist in the subroutine. [Code]
The variable of y1 passes to the subroutine oK, whilst arr(0) passes also like y1 into an isolated address. So VBnet interprets arr(0) like a variable rather than the first value of a long list. I haven't been able to find out why the above sample does not work. I got stuck in my programming effort, as I cannot proceed to to further development. how the code should be modified to enable the whole array information passing through the subroutine.
