I have an asp.net website, and i have set 1 page "search.aspx" as start page, and when i type url like this:" http://localhost/websitename/subfolder/Search.aspx"
it opens properly.but i want it to open when i type : " http://localhost/websitename/" like this only,
I have used sockets in VB6 before but cannot get the same functionality to work in VB.net. I have two machines running VB code and I want the applications to exchange information via a network connection. Using VB6 and socks it was easy but I just can't figure it out in VB.net.The data exchanged are string messages; there is no interaction between users it's just the applications exchanging info. The one machine will always be the server and is running a windows forms application which I'm writing in vb.net (it's actually a satellite antenna controller) the other machine is connected by an Ethernet connection (private network these are the only two devices) and is also running a windows forms application which I'm writing in VB.net (this is the remote controller for the satellite antenna controller) Can someone give me a pointer to some simple code that opens a connection and I can read and write between the two (both ways) using string messages. I' am assuming sockets are the right way to go? Everything I research keeps coming up with console applications
I cannot get process.start work now. I have tried wrapping it as a call outside of my class, but it doesn't matter...it does absolutely nothing. No error msgbox either...
Heres my code Private Sub mnuWizard_Click(ByVal Ctrl As Microsoft.Expression.Web.Interop.Legacy.CommandBarButton, ByRef CancelDefault As Boolean) Handles mnuWizard.Click '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' 'Handles Wizard Click Event
i just want to know how i can make this program run proberly. if you import a file in the listbox and you wanne start it whit the process.start methode it won't work. here is my code:
Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click OpenFileDialog1.ShowDialog()
[code]....
My question is how can i make the process.start work properly and will the program start the file?
Sometime when I press the run (F5) Start debugging button it does nothing. Often when I have jsut run it and made a quick correction. If left for a while it will then work! Have tried it with simple and complex projects.
Using W7 x64 - never had this problem with VB 2008 express.
I cant find whats wrong with this, all I know is it could be the arguments, maybe they are in the wrong order, I dont know... it doesn't pop up any error, it executes the process but nothing happens.

Under Options/HTML Designer/General There is the option of starting pages in either Source View or Design view. I'm now doing Windows Forms and when I open a vb page it is usually to do something to the code. I would like the page tp open in Source View but cant find a similar option for Windows Form Designer.
everyone know the start page of Visual studio it seems to be a web page, how I can make like it in my applications?
Edit, Add more details:
let us say that I want to show the recently opened forms or the Tip of this day, who I can do that, where to store the data and how to generate the HTML file?
The Projects List on my Start Page is not being populated with the Projects I open. It's empty.Does anyone know what could be the problem? I can see the entries being recorded in the Registry key:
When I start a web browser I made in VB.NET it starts off with a white page. I want when it starts for it to load up a certain page such as Google. I want to do this without using the home variable.
If urlQueue.Count > 0 Then Debug.Assert(currentFarm.isBusy = False) Debug.Assert(currentFarm.WebClient.IsBusy = False)
[CODE]...
The commented code won't work. That's because by the time the thread start, the variable currentFarm have changed. So I create a new function and cache the currentFarm in the function parameter. No there will be a cache of currentFarm address (object is always a pointer) on a stack and that address is the one being passed to the System.Threading.Thread constructor.
I have a vb.net 2008 application that is supposed to run at startup. After meeting certain conditions, the PC is supposed to restart. Below is the code that is failing:
myUsername and myDomain are both strings while myPassword is a SecureString. The application works properly when execute manually, but give the following error when executed from startup (either by placing in the startup folder or by adding to the registry):
The directory name is invalid
Also, the program executes properly when the last 3 arguments are left out and the user has the necessary rights.
How do I force a restart using an specific, alternate user credentials on startup?
I've used this method tons of times, always worked but for some reason it does not work with [URL]..anyone has an idea what the problem is and how to fix (I tried also with just 'http://blinkx.com' did not work too or maybe other ways to get the source page of this website?
I have created a Form, added a MenuStrip to it and inserted the standard Items. My question is that I know some of the options won't work like 'Save' and 'Save As' but how do you make ones like 'Open' 'Exit' 'Undo' and Redo' work when start debugging?
I have made my application to start automaticly when windows start (registry ../currentversion/run/appname + path). In this mode the application start minimized and an little icon appear in the notification icon area. With this icon you can maximize the app or exit it.If you exit the app and start it again using the Menu (Start/programs etc) than the application start in minimized mode (and in this case I would like to have it in normal mode) because the setting autostart is still true.Is there a way you can detect when the application start when windows startup using the above registry or when people click on an icon in the programs menu (or desktop)?
I would like to print an HTML file that I am generating myself, but I want the pages to have the same table header at the start of each page. I think the best options to print an HTML file is the webbrowser control? but this won't give the table header at the start of each page (and I will have to contend with the ugly file://c:empfile.htm at the top of each page etc)
I have one doubt. I told yesterday that i am new for windows application. I am using web application. In our web application, we can use multiple files and what files we want to run that we give page start up options. But in windows application where is it? I am using two files in single application. I want to change default start up page.
I wrote a page Page method in my aspx page. in web service method I need to call FindControl method return textbox and get text box value. But my findControl will take MasterPage object to iterate.

<script type = "text/javascript"> function ShowCurrentDateTime() { $.ajax({
[Code]....
How to pass Master Page object or Page to Page method?. So I can use in Sared method.
Is there any way I can access Textbox value directly in Page method? I need access couple of controls in Page Method.
HOW TO RUN THE JAVASCRIPT FUNCTION ON PAGE ONLOAD EVENT IN CONTENT PAGE OF MASTER PAGE.? means i have masterpage and the content page of master page namely default.aspx in vb.net.i wanna run javascript function in Default.aspx and i have called the function body onload in master page.when i run my website it shows the error "" Microsoft JScript Runtime Error : Object Expected ""
I have a master page which contains everything that inherits it within a form. A page inheriting from it needs to run some javascript to act on a text field on a page. However, I can't seem to reference that text field through the javascript, since the form begins on the master page. The following line will come up bogus: document.form1.txtFindUser.value = blah.responseText; This is because form1 is defined on the master page, while txtFindUser is on the current page.
i am new to this. i have 4 pages. login.aspx, account.aspx, settings.aspx and fliers.aspx. its all programmed in vb.net with sql server backend.on my firstr page, login.aspx i have this code in the .vb page -

Does anyone know why a Page_Load would be called twice on a page when requesting an aspx page?I am using .Net 2.0 with the new .net 1.1 compilation model installed. Whenever I request a page, the Page_Load on the aspx page appears to be called twice, so does the Page_Load on and user controls added to that page.
