I was working on an app that calls a batch file to do some simple tasks and found out this machine has some issues when trying to run them. really weird! so i did some testing and here are my resultsthis is a little strange to me and i can't think of why this is happening... let's say i have a simple bat file called test.bat these are the contents
@echo off
echo testing...
pause
When i go to run this bat, this is the output: C:>â– @ 'â– @' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. It seems every bat i make on this machine is being preempted by the block character which renders bat files useless...
I am creating a simple Website where users will update SQL database. The website works fine however, new records in the SQL database records needs to appended every night from a text file. What is best way to append records in the background every night? have created a stand alone vbscript to append the recoeds to the table in SQL Database hoping to schedule it to run every night but the problem I am facing is when users are using the Website my vbscript fails with the message "The file is being used by
I have created tool which performs batch processing on files that are selected. The sub routine I have defined in the code, now I want to implement a way through which I can select actions that I want to perform and then perform the actions. For example the list has multiple actions, like Open, Close, SaveAs, Resize, Color Correct etc. I should be able to select what all I want to do on each file and then perform this actions. Someone suggested me using delegates for this, but I cant use that since all my functions have different parameters. Ither option I had is to use a nested IfElse or Switch to determine which action is selected and call function according to it, but thats to heavy I think, is there any optimized a better way to do this.???
I would like to know how to select multiple records from a gridview, (ie checkboxes in itemtemplate) and process SQL statements on the records. So in short, its basically selecting records from a grid view by ticking the check boxes, and clicking a process button which then proceeds to execute the SQL statements corresponding to the records selected.[URL]..
I have created a very basic program in VB that will run a batch file that writes a reg file to the registry (see code below). In XP it works fine with no problems. However, with vista it comes up with a security error and does not run the batch file. The error it says is:
Im a college student and this is my first programming class, i am having extremely diffcult time with arrays and sequential file processing. Im not asking for the whole program, just something to get me started and hints along as i progress with it. Please help me get started on my program, its due in 2 days.
Here are the requirements....
1. The program must input any number of individuals last and first names using two separate textboxes. 2. The array of names must be sorted by the last name using a bubble sort. You must code the sort. 3. The program must be able to recall the names from the file and add to the existing list of names so that more names can be added to, sorted, and written back to the file in sorted order. 4. Sort in ascending order: A to Z 5. All names must be displayed in a listbox in sorted order when the user wishes to see them. 6. In the listbox the last and first names must be separated by a comma and a space. Example: Smith, Mary 7. The user must be able to search for a name in the array, using the binary search algorithm. You must code the search. 8. Do not use module-level variables. Instead you may choose to use Static. 9. The program must be designed using Visual Basic 2008
I imported an app from vb6 to vb.net It works fine. It has one axmsflexgrid control. Now I want to add another axmsflexgrid control in the same app. I tried to copy and paste from one frame (groupbox) to another and got this error:
"An error occurred while processing this command: Exception from HRESULT:0x800A018A (CTL_E_GETNOTSUPPORTED)"
An inputs on how would I fix this? Or just make a new axmsflexgrid?
I am trying to ping a text file("C:/Domains.txt") which is a list of domains, then have the resulting IP address written to a different text file ("C:/IP_Addresses.txt"). And this action will be done with a Button_Click.
I have a .rdlc report I created using vs2010.The report has 2 parameters: location (integer) and dteo(datetime). When I run running the report using vss reportviewer, I get following error:An error has occurred during report processing.is not a valid value for Int32.Index was outside the bounds of the array. The code below is generated from the report ran on vss2010.As you can see, there are 2 parameters, doe and location. Location is integer while doe is of date datatype. location is coming from a lookup table called Locations. Each location (integer) is associated with location_description (nvarchar)
I just learned some basics of multi threading in VB.net recently as I came across processing a large List of records and inserting them into SQL database one by one.
I have code look like this:
Private Sub btnLoadNow_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnLoadNow.Click
Dim autoLoad1 As New Thread(AddressOf AutoLoad) autoLoad1.Start()
[CODE]...
Itemlists is a global lists i retrieved from database, everything looks fine to me but when i run this program, I found that the threads are inserting one records 9 times into the database(I have 9 threads in total), which makes me think that maybe i need to specifically assign 1/9 of a list to each thread? Is there another way to do it which doesn't require the splitting of the list, if not , how do i split it then assign?
The guy who originally developed this program is ridiculously BAD at collaborating with me on this. He is currently looking into it but he hasnt even called me back about it and this is of the most importance as today the 2012 member cards start getting printed and they wont print!
I have a form with 2 Report-viewers each displaying their own rdlc file they both are Identical the only diference is the user has the option to have their name or their logo on it..They both render perfectly in the report-viewer..I get the error only on one of the reports when I try to export to PDF with code I wrote not the built in export button in ReportViewer,if I use the built in export button it exports well.[code]
I have spent way too much time trying to sort this little issue out. I have narrowed down the issue to the exact procedure that throws the error. Yes, I have used Google..
Try Dim tempSource as String = Nothing Console.WriteLine("Loading document...")
[code]....
I am loading a text file, that contains about 1100 lines, and each line is going to be processed with HTML Agility Pack. From what I can tell, when it runs "doc.loadhtml(richtextbox1)", it throws the error. I also have tried to load the file into a string, and load the string with "doc.loadhtml(thestring)". It doesn't make a difference, still errors.
I am using HTML Agility Pack, however the above is what is on every line, about 1100 lines! For testing, I have a smaller text file made of about 50 lines before I load up the 1100 line file ;) There aren't any HTML, HEAD, or BODY tags! They aren't needed for my parsing. I am using HTML Agility Pack because it is easy to parse elements with. I can grab each value easily from each line.
I am not sure if maybe the error is because it technically isn't HTML? Meaning since the loaded code doesn't have an HTML or BODY tag, that it errors? I wanted to get this question posted, and while I am waiting on some answers, I am going to parse the document another way. Just curious as to what the deal is and why HTML Agility Pack isn't working. More of a proof of concept then anything, for my own learning and knowledge.
Here is the error I get (btw the on the doc.load() line, is where it throws the exception):
Object reference not set to an instance of an object
Last Note: The routine is on a background thread. I have used multi-threading before, and have delegates created for deeper in the code.
The Local Report (.rdlc) I designed, returns on some data ranges with this error "An error occurd during local report processing". How can I please find out which data elment (SQL 2005) is causing the problem?
what im trying to do and what i have done so far is probably a little backwards not sure sure how to id it any other way.when the user generates an error because a particular file doenst exist ive got my dialoge box to generate an .txt file for each file it errors on, so that the administrator can check and update missing files as an when - shouldnt be many files missing in the first place, should just be new product ranges or item just launched.what im stuck on is:
1. is there a better way
2. how do i open a .txt file and add the extra lines to it, so i re use the file but keeping the previous data.
I have a VB program that writes a batch file to allow me to run a line of the following format:java <my class file> [options]I then run the batch file using the Shell() routine in VB.When I do this it says it cannot find <my class file>. However if I run the same batch file from a dos prompt it works.why it works in a dos prompt but not in the Shell function?
i am creating an app that when a button is pressed a batch file is executed and hidden from view.I have managed to get the output of the batch file to be displayed in a text box.
I have been looking all day trying to find a way to do this. I need to run a Batch file which is held on a server, the file path begins with a IP Address which DOS doesn't like. So i found the pushd command which assigns a temp drive letter from which you can run the Batch File.If i was simply running a normal program or file i would use:
Dim proc As Process proc = Process.Start("c:\BatchFile.bat") proc.WaitForExit()
I am trying to create a program that renames files to 1 - (however many files are in the folder) and also convert .pngs to .bmps.
If RadioButton1.Checked = True Then Dim files As String() files = IO.Directory.GetFiles(TextBox1.Text) Dim filepath_new As String filepath_new = TextBox1.Text For Each filepath As String In files [Code] .....
I have an old batch file i use that I would like to convert to vb.net,
The Batch file use a .reg entry to set the cleanmgr options. abnd then calls the sagerun command to run those options
I pretty sure I know how to create the registry entries what I am not sure to do is how to call the cleanmgr with the switches /dc /sagerun:200 then display a box saying it is complete and deleting the prefetch folder of anything older then 'n' days . [code]...
I need Visual Basic to run a batch file I have placed a batch file inside my startup application directory Inside the batch file I have WUinstall /install /reboot "When I double click the batch file it works perfect" Visual Basic 2008 Command Button I Have
Dim p As Process Try 'instance a new process p = New Process
[code]....
When I click this command button all I get is CMD window just flashes. When I hold down the enter key I can faintly read something about it is not an internal command.
I have a batch file that loads into a form containing 20 IT related incidents. I have managed to upload the batch file into a form. However I have an algorithm that reads an incident and manages to classify into its topic: See Below the data imported form the file:
1) Need to install jet direct to printers and connect users 2) Remove ms project software from PC 04384 and re install on 07882 3) install needed for 2 vectra software for Finance department PC assest 9875 and 8711 4) Supply PC 500 SITA Rest Area phone 2268 Asset and S/N 5) Add printer Epson label printer in ISD2 6) Remove Jetdirect and network printer via port PPSS PC add printer 7) Credentials for user UK15428 not logging onto the network 8) Install CD RW and unsupported software for UKX3395 9) Need Entire software installing on asset 5530, and access to password for use. 10) phone handset not functioning for UK10529, new phone required. 11) install card reader and software following PC move 12) New user group UKG0345 no mail just printers on PC00856 and PC02427 13) Update outlook remove project from PC D0186 in Prod Control per Tony Campbell install on Alisons PC in NDS 14) Unable to log onto the network, profile will need recreating 15) Remove spent toner cartridge 16) The printer doesnt appear to be printing, it looks like there could be a paper jam of some sort 17) Set up laptop and use local admin password to gain access to backup files 18) Remove image grabber card from PC and install on PC in paint shop have explained to user they will have to contact optivision
19) Cannot get onto network as I have forgotten my password, can you reset for UK15617 20) User cannot access voicemails, need mac address to edit on TOIP software
For example number 1) would be classified as a printer problem. I want the algorithm to be able to read each number, not the whole lot and classify the whole block of text, I want it to classify each incident individually, so there are 20 incidents to be classified.
I have written a simple folder backup program which, if started with a /s switch (argument), will run "silently" and perform an unattended backup. The obvious way to start the program with the /s switch is from a batch file, which then runs as a Windows Scheduled Task. I would like to create the batch file from the program itself, when it first runs, as it can then write the value of "Application.ExecutablePath" into the batch file follwed by the /s switch.
So, the question is, where best to save the batch file without running into Vista/Windows 7 permission problems? Is the local application data folder suitable?
Bear in mind there are three parts to this: my vb.net app needs first to create a batch file somewhere without permission issues, that batch file needs to be accessible to Windows Task Scheduler and then, when the batch file is run, it needs to start an .exe which is most likely in the "program files" folder.
