Browse Path Copying To Textbox?
Aug 26, 2009
I am making an application. Here one of the field is a picture. I need to browse to this picture folder from vb.net application and then save the path to a foxpro table. Something similar to what we have when a setup is run, we use to browse to target location and the path value will be there in the text box. What is the approach to be tried out.

I have a program where I copy strings from one file to another. I then create folders based on the strings. It works great 99% of the time. Once in a while I get this error:
Illegal Characters in Path
Here's the line of code where it happens:
If Dir$(txtSaveLocation.Text & "" & name1 & "" & name2, vbDirectory) = "" Then
It is just checking to see if the folder exists yet or not.
When I move my mouse over the variable "name2" the value shows up as
"test name 2
That's right, no closing quotation marks. How is this possible? If I manually add the quotation marks while in debug mode and restart execution the code works fine.
I do have a function to strip out illegal characters first too:
For loopCTR = 0 To strip.Length - 1 'strip characters out
name2= name2.Replace(strip.Substring(loopCTR, 1), "_")

I am working on a functionality which requires me to copy the last line of a richtextbox into a textbox, then removing certain characters. The code I am trying is below. I have on a form a richtextbox (txtMain), 2 textboxes (TextBox1, TextBox2), and a button (button1). The first time a ran it, it worked perfectly - it selected the last line, copied, pasted it into TextBox1. Then after that first time it didn't do it. Perhaps there is a simpler way to get this last line consistently into the TextBox1. Here's the code. (See below the code for a copy of the text in"Text.txt" file):

I'm trying to make a program that can export my schedule into a CSV file to upload on to google calender.I need to extract some text within a textbox control. I'll show you an example. This is the text in the textbox:
Quote:
Monday, 10 January, 2011
09:45 - 18:00
Phone Work09:45 - 12:15
[code]....
I need to get just the date and times from this list, and put them in variables. so that I'll end up with:
1) A string with a value as a date, which would be "10 January, 2011" for example: strDate1 would have the value of "10 January, 2011"
2) A start time, for example: strStartTime1 would have the value of 9:45
3) An end time, for example strEndTime1 would have the value of 18:00

I am a new developer in general and decided on VB.NET for my first language. So, I decided that I should write a basic FTP client since the types of apps I plan on developing later on will incorporate file transfer. I imported the chilkat dll as a reference to my project since the FTP seems to work great. Anyhow, I've designed my program with separate interfaces for sending and getting files (see attached screenshot).
The problem here is that I use an openfiledialogbox to select the local file to transfer to an FTP server which this populates the textbox with "C: ext.txt", but chilkat wants the filename without the C:, or I receive an prohibited file name error when executing the send button. So basically I just need a way to store the filename text.txt without the C: extension so I can specify THAT name as the "remotefilename" which Chilkat will understand. The way I'd really like to do it is to have my send button remove the C: from the existing textbox and just leave the filename there - that would be fine.
I tried to research this and found that the path.Getfilename may be used for this, but I'm not totally sure how i should go about it. Here is the code of the Send button for my FTP Program so far. *By the way, this program works 100% if i just create another textbox, take the filename "test.text" and reference that as the remotefilename.

Problem drawing dotted path lines, with even dots along the path line.I want to draw a path line that can be any shape (square, round, outline etc), and along this path line I want even dots to appear.
I also want to be able to resize the shape (as in the example attached)This is very easy to do using "DrawPath" and defining points for the path and using a pen defined as dots. The problem I have is I want the dots to be evenly placed along the path, on any shape or size I draw.In the example I have created, I create a square with 4 points and draw a dotted path. There are 2 buttons that allows me to resize the square (larger or smaller) this helps show the problem more clearly.
The path starts at the top left corner and finishes back at the top left corner, the dots are evenly placed along the path, except the final dots at the end of the path. (Sometimes the dots are even and other times they are not even). The shapes I want to draw can be any size and any shape, but I have used a square in this example to show the problem I have. point me in the direction I need to go that allows me to draw the dots and give the impression that they are even all along the path, for all shapes and sizes.
In the pictures below if you change the size of the shape, one will have even looking dots, the other will not.
