I have a textbox with a large amount of data, but I am trying to extract only the following into an array: only 3 or 4 letter, uppercase words. The goal is to find all stock symbols within a document.

For example, in this post, if I were to type "MSFT", regex would extract MSFT because it is a 4 letter, uppercase word.

Regex - .net Regular Expression To Match Two Words Separated By Comma Not Working?

Mar 4, 2010

I am pretty good with perl regular expressions but evidently I am at a loss on why this doesn't work.The code below stores "Person Test" in output variable.

im output As String
Dim userName As String = "Test, Person"
Dim re As New Regex("(w+),s(w+)", RegexOptions.Singleline)
output = re.Replace(userName, "$2 $1")

So why doesn't the following code store "#Test##Person#" in output variable.

Dim output As String
Dim userName As String = "Test, Person"
Dim re As New Regex("(w+),s(w+)")
For Each Match As Match In re.Matches(userName)
output &= "#" & Match.ToString & "#"

.net - Regex Replacing Non-words Chars In Strings, Ignoring Specific Chars?

Oct 8, 2011

In VB.net I've got the following line that removes all non-alphanumeric chars from a string:

return Regex.Replace(build, "[W]", "")

I now need to extend this to remove non-alphanumeric chars that aren't [] or _. I've changed the line to:

return Regex.Replace(build, "[W[]_]", "")

However I'm pretty sure that this says

replace non-word or [ or ] or _

how do I negate the tests for the [] and _ chars so that it says

replace non-word and not [ and not ] and not _

Some examples:

"[Foo Bar_123456]" => "[FooBar_123456]"
"[Foo Bar_123-456*]" => "[FooBar_123456]"

How To Jump To Next Statement From For Or For Each (like Braces But In Vb) In Visual Studio 2008

Feb 17, 2010

Does anyone know the keyboard shortcut to jump from the start of a For / For Each (or If, While, etc.) block to the end of it in visual studio if you're using vb.net? I found the following which I thought would work but doesn't : Go to Matching Brace in Visual Studio?

Following the comment there I checked Tools/Options/Environment/Keyboard for the Edit.GotoBrace command which is mapped to Ctrl + å in Swedish.Vb.net doesn't use braces per se, but in the following example:

For Each Foo in Bar
Do lots of stuff
Next

I would have thought that the same command should jump me from the For Each to the "Next" but it doesn't do anything. Is there another command (or should that command work but something is broken locally?)

.NET Export To Excel With String Data Not Enclosed In Quotation Marks?

Is there an Excel text file format (XlFileFormat) to export that will not put quotation marks around strings? I've tried xlTextWindows. Maybe there is an additional setting I'm missing? Most of the time, the datasets I'm exporting are in CSV, but I have a situation where I still want to export with an Excel type (long story) but really it is just a small blob of text. Otherwise, I'd just export to a text file; trying to avoid that for this one case.

Tooltip Not Displayed Adjacent To Textbox Object

Aug 25, 2009

I was trying to use the ToolTip class as shown in the sample code below.
errorToolTip.Show(toolTipValue, control, (control.Location.X + control.Width) / 15, (control.Location.Y / 15) , 4000)
To place the tooltip adjacent to textbox object.

Problem is: the above code is placing the tool tip text in the correct location for few textbox controls and in wrong location for few textbox controls.

Information:
1. Application was in VB6 earlier and is mirgrated to .NET now.
2. All the forms in the application are UserControls embedded in WindowsForm.
3. In the above code, X and Y locations, I am converting them from Twips to Pixels.
How to manage to have the tooltip text exactly adjacent to the textbox control for all?

Interface And Graphics :: Algorhitm To Find Identical Adjacent Pixels In Bitmap?

I need to write a code to find identical adjacent pixels in a bitmap image. It should work as the 'magical wand' in Photoshop. My images are always black and white (white background with car parts drawed in black). Interface And Graphics :: Algorithm To Find Identical Adjacent Pixels In Bitmap?

Aug 12, 2011

I need to write a code to find identical adjacent pixels in a bitmap image. It should work as the 'magical wand' in Photoshop.My images are always black and white (white background with car parts drawed in black). Given the x,y coordinate for a single black pixel in the whole image, the code should find (and paint with another color, say red) all other black pixels that are linked to that one, and so on, until all linked black points will be painted in red.This way, suppose that I have an image with 4 car parts drawed, then if I give the x,y coordinate of a black pixel, just THAT part to whose the black pixel belongs to should be painted in red. All other parts will remain black. Does it make sense?At the end, there are two pictures (before and after) to help understanding what I need to do to the images.I tried a simple 8-pixel adjacent approach for every pixel (starting on initial coordinate) but it turns out into a very stupid and endless looping algorhitm.

Code:
Imports System.Drawing
Imports System.Drawing.Drawing2D
Imports System.Windows.Forms

Interface And Graphics :: GetDIBits : Return The Pixel Positions In The Image At Which They Are First Located Adjacent To One Another?

Sep 24, 2008

how I could search a given bitmap, say "test.bmp" or a printscreen, for two pixels that are next to each other and that have specified color values? The colors are: &H486596 and &H213D66. I then want to return the pixel positions in the image at which they are first located adjacent to one another. I'm only after the first instance of the occurrence. I wish to use GetDIBits as I hear that it's quicker. So I want to find the first instance where the color value for pixel (x,y) = &H486596 and (x+1, y) = &H213D66.

Concatenating A Variable With A Regex Group Match In Regex.replace?

Apr 5, 2012

I am having an issue where I am using regex.Replace to replace part of a string. The basic idea is that I want to capture the beginning of the string then replace the end of the string with a value from code. For an example pretend I have a string that says "Test Number " followed by number and I want to increment that number. I capture the "Test Number " but when I try to concatenate that capture with the new number it treats the capture ($1) as a literal and replaces the entire string with $1[new number].

[code]...

This will output "We are on Test Number 2", as expected. how I can use a variable in the replacement string portion of the Regex.Replace when including a captured group?

VS 2008 Make A Release Build Instead Of A Debug Build?

May 3, 2010

I am using 2008 Express Edition. I am trying to make a Release build instead of a Debug build.Under Tools->Options, Projects and Solutions->General - I checked Show advanced build configurations. The option to switch configurations does not show up in the IDE.

After this, I went to the Project Properties->Compile and switched the Configuration from Active(Debug) to Release.After building, I looked in my project directory, however only in the Debug sub-directory was the .exe and nothing in the Release sub-directory.I have used Visual C++ Express Edition, where I noticed that if you do not change to Release in the IDE than after changing to Release in properties, resets the project to the last configuration setting which is usually Debug.how to make the Debug/Release box available in the IDE, since Tools/Options does not make it show up?
