I'm facing a major problem with a Deployment Project I created to install one of my applications.I am using the ENGLISH IDE of the Visual Studio 2008 - even though my end users will have German environments. This is why I set the
Localization = German
Property in the Deployment Project's Properties. The UI of the generated setup is German, so all's fine there. However, the setup installs the ENGLISH .Net Framework. I have not found any way around this.The problem are at least twofold:
1. An English Framework on a German PC might cause instabilities.
2. It's a big flaw to see UI inconsistencies (i.e. the UI and Setup of the application is German while the NET Framework shows certain elements in English, e.g. the DisplayName property of cultures)how can I get the project to install the localized .NET Framework?

I need to pull out only the hour from the original date value (e.g. 07:45:00), get the current time, and then subtract the current time from the database time value. Ok so i have a date time picker that holds a date that was entered by a user. My program works fine when ran on a computer using English(US) regional settings, but when i take it to a computer running any other regional settings, I.E. English(UK), which is the 2nd most common regional settings that will find its way to this program, I recieve an error because the Date format is backwards. What i'm curious about is how can i grab the system Regional Date format in order to rearrange my Date to fix its context?
I know that since the date is stored as a string i'm going to do something along the lines of this to break it apart:

In VB2005 I am trying to calculate the number of business days between two dates. I must also account for U.S. holidays (New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day/Friday after, Christmas Day). If a holiday falls on a Saturday, then the prior day (Friday) is assumed to be a holiday. Likewise, if the holiday falls on a Sunday then the following day (Monday) is assumed to be a holiday.

For some reason i can always get the first word to translate but the other words jumble together and sometimes repeat themselves.The rules for this program are as follows: To translate an English word into a pig Latin word, place the first letter of the English word (if it is not a vowel) at the end of the English word and add the letters "ay." If the first letter of the English word is a vowel, place it at the end of the word and add "y." Using this method, the word "jump" become "umpjay," the word "the" becomes "hetay" and the word "ace" becomes "ceay". Blanks between words remain blanks.

View 20 RepliesI have a tool which reads dBase files and uploads the contents to SQL Server, part of a system to import shapefiles. It works but now we have a requirement to import files that include non-English characters (Norwegian in this case, could be other languages later) and they're being corrupted. The dBase files are being read using an OleDbDataAdapter. Stepping through the code I can see that the text is wrong as it is read in. I'm assuming it's something to do with code pages or Unicode but I have no idea how to fix it.A dBase Reader application tells me the DBFs are in code page 1252 - I don't know if this is correct. My upload tool runs on Win7 with English (UK) regional settings.[code]Is there a way to tell OleDbDataAdapter what code page to use or a better way to read dBase files from VB.Net?
