How can I get the path of a file on my computer or on the local area network.
I would to show a window that allows me to browse the file system when I click a button, and I want to select a file and get the path to the file. How can I do this?
P.S. I'm not looking to upload the file; I just want to get the path.
I have a list of .txt, .doc, .pdf on my listview. How do i code this problem;
1. When i double-click the item (sample.txt) on my listview it will open in a notepad.
2. When i double click the item (sample.docx or sample.doc) it will open the MS word and shows me the things written on the particular item.
I have one project and in this project I want to save picture to application path and save the path to database as string and retrieve the image from the application path.Can u give me some idea about it..i am using vb.net as frontend and ms access database

When I use "C:UsersGeoffrey van WykDocumentsCountdown_Timer_Help.rtf" as the argument of FileName, it works. But when I use My.Resources.Countdown_Timer_Help, it says it cannot find the file.
How do I publish/deploy the WinForms application including a database file via ClickOnce?

I'm trying to find an easy way (there must be one) to quickly retrieve from the registry the application file name and path to use in a Shell command to open a particular file. I wrote an application which parses a website and downloads an mp4 file from website. User can select the path where he wants to download the video. When I try to download I get an exception for the file, Access Denied to Path. When I gave the permissions to folder that I chose, then works fine. How can I resolve that problem? I'm developing an application in vb.net. You drag any type of file onto the exe, and a window pops up with some options for the file, then it saves the file to a different location, works some SQL magic, etc. It works great for the most part. The only issue I've found is that if the path of the file contains any spaces, the application will crash immediately with the error window:[URl]..I'm using: Private filename as String = Command$ This is located right inside my form's class declaration, not within a sub/function.Without this line, my program runs fine (although useless, without accessing the file).I've also tried (I think this was it, I don't have the code with me at the moment): Private filename as String = Environment.CommandLine So, in vb.net, is there a way to drag a file onto an exe and use that path name, even if there are spaces in the path name?

Neither of these give me the path of the program in which those two lines are exectured, they only tell what program started this program.
I have an application that is written in VB.NET, using the System.Windows.Forms.Form as the front-end GUI. It runs perfectly on my Windows machine however recently there is a business requirement to convert this application to run as a web application so that people could view them in their blackberries when they go to the URL. This procedure will work fine and display in the browser. However, if I save the file to C:Document123.pdf, how can I access this file using relative path in MapPath function. Is there an option to access the file which is saved out of IIS server? I am using vb.net 2003.
I'm using acrobat that returns unix paths instead of windows path's. So im wondering if there is a way in vb.net to convert the path to windows path.
