C# - Switch Component Controlled Via USB Port?

I need device switch component which an be controlled by code(.net,C# Or vb) ON/OFF state is enough. I have code knowledge in C#, .net window application, I need to make a switch that can be controlled using code via USB port ... so that using that switch I will turn on/off electrical devices (fan,light) for a specific time interval.. For my MINI Project
Note: I need the brief note regarding components needed and how to assemble it.
If you know any link which resembles this type of project pls refer me.

How can I monitor how many times a switch open and close? I am planning to add a label13 to my form and use the LPT port so every time the switch goes high (1) it will add 1 to my label13.text. The Printer Adaptor address in the target PC is 0x378. using pin 10 (ACK) or pin 2 (D0).

ok i got a hard question I have diferent computers, lets say 200 cps with all known mac address. i got 3 switches with 24 ports each. i want to know if i can be able to know the port No. and switch of a given computer given the mac address... some computer arent in the domain. how could i start puttin this into code

Our company has setup several remote devices that link to a switch Whenever there are problems on the device, some technicans will replace it using a new one We have a vb program that can automatically update the device setup in our server when technicans replace devices. So we do not need to login and update the setting manually However, our program cannot handle the case that there are more than 1 device that need replacement Therefore, our idea is to retrieve the ip and port of the router/switch that links to remote device using VB.net.

I am looking for a serial port component for .NET that overcomes the issues with the built-in Serial Port component related to sudden unplugging of USB-to-RS232 adapters, and suspension of the computer while the port is open. (Untrappable errors occurring after the the device is unplugged or the computer comes back after being suspended.)I have been using Richard Grier's solution, but I still have problems when resuming from suspend.Is there a 3rd party component that you would recommend? I have tried several, and each have their shortcomings. Ideally I'd like a drop-in replacement for the standard serial port, but I'll take whatever I can get.
Edit: It turns out that upgrading to .NET 4 and using the serial class works fine on XP, but does not work on Windows 7.

im working in a Statistics Company in my country working on the use of the internet. So as part of my project i thought i would make something like this ... I want to make a browser (which is something very but very simple and i have it ready) but i want this browser to be able to be viwed and controlled remotely by another person (my company) ... Of course people who will use it will be informed what they are doing ... It is in no way illegal while people are getting paid for this... My problem is that i dont know if it is even possible to be able to view and control my own browser remotely from my pc when it runs to another pc ... If it is possible can you please quide me on how to do this ?

I have an issue with my DO While loop (it has to be a DO While loop). It is supposed to loop until a value of -99999 is entered for the value of previousReadiing. The program works, and it will stop after -99999 is entered, but only after it goes through the rest of the loop.How do I get this to end rather than have to finish through the other input statements and calculating again?This is homework so I don't want the answer, but can I get a nudge in the right direction please?

I am converting an old Vb6 solution to .net 2.0 in vs2010. I've been working in C# for about 3 years now and .net for 5. I don't recall having this problem in C#, but if I want initialize a readonly collection of DerivedControlFoo Is there a clean way to do it besides creating a sub to do it all off somewhere else? I'd love to be able to do it at the class level at the declaration for readability and simplicity.

I would like to show a form... example: Form13.Show()However, I would like to have the Opacity of the form controlled by the user and I am having trouble figuring out the coding. I need to display data from a complex sql query controlled by 2 combos. The sql main query part is working fine but I cannot get to link the combos to the query. On form load I load combo1 by means of a sub. Then with SelectedIndexChanged I load the combo2. Both combos load fine by do not intereact with eachothers meaning combo1 doen't filter out combo2's information.

If I uninstall the COM1 and reboot, it works. If I shut down (power off) and restart, I get the message below. If I uninstall then click on Scan for Hardware Changes,The given port name does not start with COM/com or does not resolve to a valid serial port. Parameter name:portName

I am trying to get my 4 port USB relay board to work in VB.net using the COM PORT. I found some code from a poster who has the 16 port USB relay version. When trying his code i can only get it to turn on relays 1-3 all at the same time. The product can be found here: USB 4 port relay
"01+//" - Relay 1 is switched ON
"01-//" - Relay 1 is switched OFF
"02+//" - Relay 2 is switched ON
"02-//" - Relay 2 is switched OFF

So i am confused as to how to separate each relay out with that code above and just be able to turn on any number 1-4 relay on or off independently from each other!

I have a routine which is controlled by a timer. It works perfectly. The problem is that now, I need to run this routine several times, so I need to start differents threads so that my program doesn't get hung up. I've been trying to start my timer inside a thread, but it doesn't work!
