C# - Using Html.RenderAction And Ajax.ActionLink Together
Jan 28, 2010
when i do this, i get the ACTION being called TWICE, what should i do about this?
if i call html.partial instead to just render the control, then i need to specify all the objects/values manually, which i shouldn't need to do this as the ACTION itself takes care of this stuff.
i maeks sense to have both these work together but they don't, what should i do?
I have some update panels on my page that do some asyncpostbacks to keep some dropdownlists correctly populated. My problem is that on my page i have an HTML input that is handling some file uploads. With the AJAX on the page with asyncpostbacks, and while i step through my code behind, the files arent being uploaded. Using a postbacktrigger (non-async) is not possible because of my layout.
When I put a breakpoint in at the declaration of service and then check the value of "files", the count is 0. I am expecting it to be 2 when i have one file uploaded.
How do I modify or create my own Html.ActionLink helper to accept and handle the first parameter (linkText) passed in as an empty string / nothing?Details: I currently have a strongly typed view that's passed a model which contains search results. My view loops through each item in the model and attempts to display a link to a contact with the following code:
@Html.ActionLink(currentItem.ContactName, "contact", "details", New With { .id = currentItem.ContactID }, Nothing)
Normally this would work just fine, but not every item in my search result has a ContactName. The Html.ActionLink helper errors when this first parameter is empty. In case it helps, here's the model property for ContactName (which is generated from a template due to Database First, so I don't believe it can be modified):
Public Property ContactName As String
I'd like to have a helper function that simply returns nothing if the ContactName is an empty string / nothing.I'm guessing I need to extend this helper, and I've struggled to find any good, up-to-date resources in VB.net for extending helper functions. Other approaches are more than welcome if they're considered best practice. I'm working in VB.net, MVC3, and Razor in the ASP.net 4.0 framework.
Basically, i don't want to use <input type="submit"> mainly because it's a button, i'd rather user ActionLink, so i am using Ajax.ActionLink, and i'm not sure what to place in the routeValues argument for it to pickup the new (edited) data (user enters comments etc) and send it to my action.this is what i have, but of course, it sends the original comment before user edit back to the server/action :)
<%= Ajax.ActionLink("Update", "UpdateComment", Model.Comment, New AjaxOptions With {.UpdateTargetId = Model.CommentDivId, .HttpMethod = "Post"})%>
ps: i know how to do this in javascript, and doing ajax posts etc,
This may sound really stupid but I have to ask cause I'm not finding this answer anywhere.I have an application where the user will need to sign up for a new user account on the website [URL]..However when I am using Firefox's plug-in Firebug to view html I am getting something totally different than when I just right click on the site and view the page source.
What I am trying to do is to get the captcha from the website and display it in a picturebox on the application so the user can view the captcha, solve the captcha and then the app post is back to the service for a response.
Here is the source that I am getting using Firefox's Firebug to inspect the element:
<td> <input type="hidden" value="Oo3Jo1I8bgzK68agMqo3s79ZZib2OkbK" name="iden"> <img class="capimage" src="/captcha/Oo3Jo1I8bgzK68agMqo3s79ZZib2OkbK.png" alt="i wonder if these things even work"> </td>
[Code]...
Why would the two be showing me two different versions of the HTML?
And how would you be able to grab that source to view in a picturebox using webclient?
Usage: Users create pretty HTML news letters in another app. They post the newsletter to the web, but they also want to set the contents of the HTML news letter file as the body of an email and send it using Application In Question. The users understand to use absolute link and image references when sending an E Newsletter. Environment:
AIQ is a VB.Net app deployed via ClickOnce. It is an intranet app; one can be sure MS Office 2003 and the interop 11 dlls are on the target machines.
Restrictions: MAPI is out. It mangles the HTML. Since it is a ClickOnce deployment, we can't register dlls (I think, correct me if I am wrong). Therefore CDO and COM is out (again, I may be wrong.... I would be happy to be proven so).
Need a bit of help with HTML Agility Pack!Basically I want to grab plain-text withing the body node of the HTML. So far I have tried this in vb.net and it fails to return the innertext meaning no change is seen, well atleast from what I can see.
Dim htmldoc As HtmlDocument = New HtmlDocument htmldoc.LoadHtml(html) Dim paragraph As HtmlNodeCollection = htmldoc.DocumentNode.SelectNodes("//body")
I am trying save a value from an input tag in some HTML source code. The tag looks like so:
<input name="user_status" value="3" />
I have the page source in a variable (pageSourceCode), and need to work out some regex to get the value (3 in this example). I have this so far: [Code] Which works fine most of the time, however this code is used to process source code from multiple sites (that use the same platform), and sometimes there are other attributes included in the input tag, or they are in a different order, eg:
I am trying to build my own website and realized that it would be a big help to also create my own vb program to enable me to embed tags with simple clicks of buttons. I am having trouble getting my vb code to be compatible with html code (I keep getting vb syntax errors).
Here is what I've tried:
<strong>'Inside of a button:Textbox1.text = "<html tag example></html tag example>"</strong>
I have to submit a HTML form to a 3rd party website and one of the hidden fields is an XML string. The XML needs escaping before it is sent to the 3rd party.
However when I add the plain XML to the form field it semi-escapes it for me. So then when I use HTMLEncode myself part of the XML is double-escaped. How do I prevent the automatic escaping that appears to becoming from .NET.
Or even better how else can send the escaped XML via the hidden field.
I have constructed a form in ASP.NET MVC 2 that is bound to a Model, using code similar to below to generate my inputs and wrapping them within Ajax.BeginForm("MyAction").
I have a html string like this:[code]I wish to strip all html tags so that the resulting string becomes:From another post here at SO I've come up with this function (which uses the Html Agility Pack):[code]
I am using a PropertyGrid control. There are two things I need to be able to do.
1. I need to be able to access Ajax controltoolkit components and populate the propertygrid with the properties from the Ajax control toolkit.
2. I need to be able to do the same with WebUI components.
The basic part, populating the propertygrid with a control, I understand how to do - -
What I don't know is what to import or how to access what dll (for the Ajax Control Toolkit and the Web UI controls), in my Winforms project to be able to do this.
I'm looking for an efficient means of extracting an html "fragment" from an html document. My first implementation of this used the Html Agility Pack. This appeared to be a reasonable way to attack this problem, until I started running the extraction on large html documents - performance was very poor for something so trivial (I'm guessing due to the amount of time it was taking to parse the entire document).[code]...
I am making a html application and would like to make an ftp as a folder for the html you are writing, similar to that of visual basic's solution explorer. eg. images wont show from the index location, basicaly something allong the slines of a local ftp / solution explorer is needed desparatley.
I'm amateur with asp and .net, but i need create a page to generate xml/json output response similar to java servlet.what is the best way to do ajax response with asp forms? Asp page form with [code]
Ok, everything is 'functionally' working with what I am attempting to accomplish and once again, I am sure this is something dumb, but I cannot figure out how to do this one thing.I have an edit form for an entity, lets say a car. This 'car' can have 0 - many passengers. So on my edit form, I have all the fields for the car, then a list view showing each passenger (partial). I also have a 'add new passenger' button that will render a new partial view that allows you to enter a passenger. This has a cancel link and an add button to submit an Ajax form. When you add a passenger, the passenger is automatically added to the list, but I need the enter passenger form to go away. I have tried using the onSuccess and onComplete functions to hide the div that the form is in, but both render just the partial view HTML elements (white screen, text) and not the partialView in the context of the entire page.
I basically need to do this, but unfortunately my hosting provider doesn't give me "Full Trust" so I can't run threads. Is there a way to do this using AJAX?
//Updates Information in Database Thread threadFind = new Thread(LoadFind); threadFind.Start();
Response.Write("Send old information to users"); I don't want my users to have to wait at all for a response, so I can send them the old information. However, while they are on the page I want another thread (or something that works like a thread) to update the information for the next user that visits.
The middleware that manages talk between the mainframe and our app is blowing up randomly. It's a "such and such attempted to read/write protected memory..." error.The vendor is saying there we must be running some unmanaged code (I feel they're trying to worm out of it). I know VB's entirely managed, but does anyone know about the server portion of AJAX? Is there any server side javascript stuff that occurs before it actually gets into the .NET framework?
