I have a asp grid with a few columns that bind to data. The last column has been converted to a template-field. In this template-field is a button with a modal popup extender attached to it. Hidden inside this field is a modal popup. This modal popup is used to add a new account. it contains 2 text boxes, drop down lists and buttons("Add" and "Cancel"). When "add" is clicked the modal should close after the inserting of the new account in the code behind.
The Problem: I get the popup to display and load the Drop down lists from the cache, without problem. How do I get the button click event to fire in the code behind. I've tried using a JavaScript function that performs a _doPostBack('btnAddAcc','') but it keeps returning the error "JavaScript error: Object expected". I gathered after about 1 hour on Google that it is because "btnAddAcc' is not found because it is actually within the grid-view cell and can't be directly accessed. Using page methods and ajax calls is a last resort as the company has a strict policy against this and only allowes this after a bunch of paperwork.

I use VB 2008. I want to check that text boxes have correct data but not at key pressed key down event. I want to check when user fill the form if all have correct data then insert into database otherwise get focus of specifiq textbox which have wrong data. I see many examples but all is applied on keydown keypress etc events. I just need a class i send Textbox as object in that which return true or false. I need one method in that class which check only numbers with decimal point and limit decimal places to 4 digit.e.g 12345.9876 and other method check A to Z and a to z with some special charecters like @ # $ % & ! ;
View 3 RepliesI am working on an aspx site that lets an admin-level user fill out a form with potential member data. Once the form is filled out, the user will click submit and the data will go off to different tables. One part of the form that is stumping me involves filling out three textboxes (txtFirstName, txtLastName, txtGrade). I have a button (btnAddStudent), that, when clicked, should add the information from the textboxes to a table-like display area. I am trying to use a gridview, but there is nothing to bind it to. There is no memberID number to load a blank record from the Student table (which is a many-to-one relation to Member table). The member record is what this form is creating, and the student data will be added to the Student table when the Submit button is clicked.
I am currently working with the code found in the reply here. But when I click the "Add Student" button, I get a new blank row, but my textbox values are not inputted in the gridview.
Can this work, or do I need to look at using a table and adding rows of textboxes dynamically?

I've got the list being saved to session anytime a change is being made to it, and on page_load check if that session variable is empty, if not, then set that list to bind to the gridview.

Here is the asp code for the design, I have a gridview that lists all Leave dates selected w/ 2 radio buttons . The user may choose if it is for whole day or halfday which are represented by a radio button. I want to get the value of each row if the user wants half day or whole day for me to calculate the leave days.
-I can already get the value but on the first 5 rows only since my gridview is paged with paging size of 5. how can i get the value for the other items if I have more than 5?

I believe there wont be any diff if user clicks the button on the form and the click event is fired OR if we call the button click event / function in the code. Because in one my project, this does make diff. If I click the button on the form, the App works great but same button if I click it thru the form code, the whole process crashes. This happens in Vista / VB.net.

Now, what i want to archieve is that when a user types an employee's name in the textbox control, selects a location from the location dropdownlist, and a department from the departments dropdownlist, and click the button(search), the gridview on the other page must show the reqiured information of a SINGLE employee. Upon clicking a row, I would like to take my user to another page with a DetailsView control which gets populated with the full set of values from the DB related to the row clicked. My user should be able to edit the data, download files associated with the record, and create a new record of a different type based on said data.

View 3 RepliesI created a function that retrieves information on which checkboxes are checked. It returns an array which the information coupled to the checking of those checkboxes. Those checkboxes and the matching textboxes are dynamically created at runtime in that same function. I'm pausing the application to wait for a button to be pressed. I'm trying to find a way to use btnDone.Click event directly because the code always reloops my function once more recreating the controls.

View 1 Repliesurl...I've got a drop down inside an update panel, and I am trying to get it to allow the person using the page to add users to a list that is bound to a gridview. The list is a global variable, and on page_load I set that to the gridview's datasource and databind it. However, anytime I click the 'add a user' button, or the button to remove the user from the list. It appears like it is doing a full post back even though all these elements are inside the update Panel.[code]Now I thought the point of an update panel was to be able to update things inside of it without doing a full post_back and reloading the page. So if that's the case, why is it calling page_load everytime I click the buttons? I ran this code and debug and I see that even before any of the code associated with button press fires, page_load runs again.I tried putting the gvAssociatedUser.Datasource = associatedFaculty and the line below inside the Page.IsPostBack check, that prevented the page from working. I tried every combination of settings of the update panel for ChildrenAsTriggers and UpdateMode, and none of them worked.
I've tried won't get it to work.It wasn't causing a full postback so I was wrong as to the cause. I thought the page was doing a full post back thus resetting my associatedFaculty list global variable, but it isn't doing a full postback.The issue I am having is everytime I click btnAddUser it will add one element to the associatedFaculty list and thus bound to gvAssociatedusers. This works the first time, but the second time I click it, it overwrites the first element. So it appears like my associated Faculty list is getting reset each time I click the button?
