.net - OnCommand On Button Not Firing Inside GridView?

Apr 23, 2010

I've got a button inside a gridview to remove that item from the gridview (its datasource is a list). I've got the list being saved to session anytime a change is being made to it, and on page_load check if that session variable is empty, if not, then set that list to bind to the gridview.

Code Behind:

Public accomplishmentTypeDao As New AccomplishmentTypeDao()
Public accomplishmentDao As New AccomplishmentDao()
Public userDao As New UserDao()

Javascript - Button Click Event On Modal Popup, Inside A Grid-view Not Firing

Jun 10, 2012

I have a asp grid with a few columns that bind to data. The last column has been converted to a template-field. In this template-field is a button with a modal popup extender attached to it. Hidden inside this field is a modal popup. This modal popup is used to add a new account. it contains 2 text boxes, drop down lists and buttons("Add" and "Cancel"). When "add" is clicked the modal should close after the inserting of the new account in the code behind.

The Problem: I get the popup to display and load the Drop down lists from the cache, without problem. How do I get the button click event to fire in the code behind. I've tried using a JavaScript function that performs a _doPostBack('btnAddAcc','') but it keeps returning the error "JavaScript error: Object expected". I gathered after about 1 hour on Google that it is because "btnAddAcc' is not found because it is actually within the grid-view cell and can't be directly accessed. Using page methods and ajax calls is a last resort as the company has a strict policy against this and only allowes this after a bunch of paperwork.

The Code:

<asp:GridView ID="gvNEA" runat="server" CssClass="gridA_Orange"
AutoGenerateColumns="False" AllowPaging="True"
EmptyDataText="No transactions with 'Non Existent Account(s)'"

Devexpress Gridview Delete Event Is Firing Multiple Times

Jul 21, 2010

I have a Devexpress Gridview that is linked to a delete, fetch and update stored procedure. The problem I am having is that when I run my program, select a row in the grid and press delete it fires the event multiple times. Specifically it deletes the selected row and then I re-fetch the data so the focus returns to the first row. Which is what I want.

Unfortunately it starts at the beginning of my list and goes down it row by row deleting each row it comes to. It then continues several more times after the rows are deleted. I know this because for each deleted row it asks me if I want to delete it. If I say no then the rows appear to disappear until I manually refresh it after the deleting is done. To make this even more random the second row always reappears after I manually refresh the grid.

Asp.net - DragDrop Event Not Firing On Object Inside Usercontrol (but DragEnter Does)

Feb 12, 2012

Well the title pretty well describes my problem. Here is a little bit more detailed description of my problem: I am building an application with a TabControl, which I populate at execution time with TabPages. In my first version of the code, these TabPages were filled with a children ListView. The ListView was also created in code, using AddHandlers to link it to the DragEnter and DragDrop routines. Everything worked very well... Now as I need some other controls on every TabPage, instead of creating every single control in code, I have created a UserControl containing a ListView and a few Buttons, which I instantiate for every new TabPage. The problem now is that the DragDrop event is not raised anymore

ASP Button Control Firing

Apr 20, 2012

The problem im having is a little complicated to explain, so please bear with me. I have 2 button controls. In the page load, I wanted to know what button created a postback on the page load. Through research I have found this snippet below and it works as expected. So here is my scenario of events that occur when click on the button.

1. Click the button does a postback
2. Runs the function below and tell me the id of the button
3. Runs the clicked event handlers for that button [code]

The problem comes in when I click the second button, it does steps 1 and 2 but NEVER DOES 3. Through testing, I have that it only does 1, 2, and 3 on the first button clicked.[code]

ASP.NET Dynamic Command Button Event Not Firing?

Nov 21, 2009

I'm trying to create Command Buttons dynamically, but clicking the button in question doesn't seem to raise the corresponding CommandButton_Click event. I noticed that in the examples on SO a property is set for Button.OnCommand as well as the CommandName and CommandArgument but it isn't an option in intellisense.(code below without the OnCommand), is it accessed in some other way - if so, why do the examples I've found all show it as .OnCommand?

EDIT: Further to help, I have added the handler however the event is still not firing. The buttons reside in an UpdatePanel and are rebuilt on every postback (along with the handler). I have created a simplified example of what I'm doing which is shown below If the button event fires, it writes "EVENT FIRED" to the txtTestFired Textbox - suffice to say I have never seen that.

VS 2008 : Radio Button CheckedChanged Event Firing?

Oct 13, 2009

I have a series of radio buttons in a Group Box on my main form. When I run the program, the first step is Sub New and the InitializeComponent() procedure.

It then immediately goes to the first radio button CheckedChanged event. This even currently contains some programming to access information from a database table. However, the program hasn't even gone through the process of opening the database and logging in. This doesn't happen until after my frmMain.Load event. However, this happens after the CheckedChanged event for some reason. So now that I have included the data requirement, I am getting errors because the reader is opening before the connection opens. I know I can set up a Try....Catch....End Try to avoid a user error, but ...I thought the form would have to load before anything about the controls happens and then since I haven't clicked anything, I am not sure why the event is triggering.

How To Edit GridView Inside Of Modal Popup

Dec 1, 2010

I have a gridview that appears in a modal popup that is generated dynamically and is bound to a dynamically generated SqlDataSource. I did this to hopefully take advantage of the gridview's automatic editing capabilities. My problem is that when the edit button is clicked the modalpopup closes due to a full postback in spite of the fact that my gridview is in an update panel. I looked at solutions here and here but neither fixed the problem. I've also tried every combination under the sun regarding the positioning of the ModalPopupExtender in relation to the update panel etc, and have tried changing UpdateMode to conditional as well.

Markup:

Asp.net - FileUpload Control Inside Gridview (ajax Updatepanel)?

Mar 11, 2011

I've got a fileupload control inside of a gridview so that each row (item from the database) can have an attachment associated with it. I've got a button next to the fileupload control (besides the default browse... button to select the file) to actually take the file and upload it to a file server.This works great if I use this button "Upload". However, underneath my gridview I have another imagebutton that is outside of the gridview, its just sitting on the form / page.The idea of this "Update" button is when end users make changes to the grid I can simply loop through the grid and update the values they have entered to the database. This also works great.

Now here is my issue assume a user has 3 rows in the grid view. On 2 of these rows he decides to add an attachment but he never clicks the "Upload" button he only uses the standard browse button to select the file. Now instead of clicking the "Upload" button that is on the grid view he ends up clicking the "Update" button outside of the grid thinking that it will save his attachments.

So I decided to write code to grab the fileupload control from the grid using .FindControls("NameOfFileUploadControl") in my Update button loop where I loop through all the rows. Then I check if myFileUploadControl.HasFile property to see if there exists a file and if there does upload the file then continue with the code.

The issue is when I click this "Update" button .HasFile always returns false even though I can see the text string of the path in the fileuploadcontrol textbox (the standard one next to the browse button). Is it because this goes back to the page load event and checks if it is a post back? What causes this and how can I fix it?

edit:Im adding some code because im still confused with this

Protected Sub SaveGrid()
For Each Row As GridViewRow In Me.gvLineItems.Rows
Dim f As FileUpload = CType(Row.FindControl("fuAttachment"), FileUpload)

[code]....

This method gets called on a click of a button... The fileupload control is in an of a gridview that is wrapped inside of an UpdatePanel:

<asp:FileUpload Width="90px" Font-Size="xx-small" ID="fuAttachment" runat="server" />

So why is this property always returning false?

ImageButton OnClick Function Inside GridView Within UpdatePanel

Nov 21, 2011

I have a GridView which is continually rebound using a timer and is within an updatePanel so the page doesn't refresh continually (each row has a countdown sequence so the gridview needs to continually get updated). Inside the gridview i have an imagebutton with an OnClick method. Previously to get the OnClick method to fire I would make sure the gridView wasn't in an UpdatePanel and that the pageload databinding of the gridview was in an "If Not IsPostBack". With the Timer though I can't have the gridview binding an an "If Not IsPostBack" and it needs to be in an UpdatePanel. Is there a way to use an UpdatePanel and "If Not IsPostBack" and still get the OnClick method to be called?

Here's some of the code, if my explanation didn't make complete sense:

Paging Not Working In Asp.net Gridview Inside AJAX Updatepanel

Aug 27, 2009

I have an asp.net gridview that is originally bound to a sqldatasource control, but when the user presses an external button, it instead gets the contents of a datatable rather than a SQLdatasource control. I therefore had to write code in the PageIndexChanging event of the gridview to allow for paging. My code is as follows:

Protected Sub gvEvents_PageIndexChanging(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.GridViewPageEventArgs) Handles gvEvents.PageIndexChanging

gvEvents.PageIndex = e.NewPageIndex

gvEvents.DataBind()

This worked beautifully until I added an AJAX update panel so the whole page wouldn't postback every time it paged, and paging stopped working. I debugged it and discovered that it is actually calling the PageIndexChanging event, but nothing is happening. I searched the web and found a few people with the same problem, but their solutions did not work for me. There was one on this site whose problem was solved by the following:

In PageIndexchanging event, where you bind data to grid, make sure, data is again fetched from the DB

I don't know what that means; my data was being bound as demonstrated above. I have "enable paging" set to true and EnableSortingAndPagingCallbacks set to false.

I am including my markup for the updatepanel below.

<asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel2" runat="server" UpdateMode="Conditional">
<Triggers>
<asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="ibtnSearch" />
</Triggers>
