TabControl.SelectedIndex Being Changed, But SelectedIndexChanged Even Not Firing?

Dec 20, 2010

I have a TabControl in an application that started behaving strangely. this program was converted from VB6 to VB .NET 2008, and used to refer to forms using their class names. In other words, I might have a form class called frmFoo. In the code for the program you might see:

[Code]...

I opened the program and read a file. This file contained a value that should have triggered the event handler. Without making the control visible, I can change the SelectedIndex property of the tab control without the event firing.I closed the program down again, and reopened it. This time, selected the parent tab that allowed the child tab (the one whose event I'm concerned with) to become visible. I then selected a different tab in the parent control, meaning that the child control was no longer visible. When I opened the same file as before, it fired the event.

I'm tempted to implement a flag that confirms that the control has been repainted or whether the parent tab has been displayed. I may have to fire the event in code if the flag isn't set. I want to reiterate that everything worked when the program referred to the forms by their class names and much of the arrangement of controls on the forms was done in the load event. Now the program creates variables and the arrangement of the controls is done in the form's constructor. I'm sure this has something to do with the problem I'm having, but I can't understand how.

DataGridView - Capture Changed SelectedIndex Of Combobox

May 13, 2010

I have a DataGridView on a windows form.

The 4th column is a combo box column.

Now what I want to do is capture the event every time a value is changed in the combo box drop down (selectedindexchanged). When the index is changed, I want to grab the row number, and then I will grab the value of the now selectedindex and do some database updates with it.

I currently have tried to put together an event grabber when the combo box is changed, however it doesn't work correctly.

My code is:

Private Sub dgvRooms_EditingControlShowing(ByVal sender As Object, _
ByVal e As DataGridViewEditingControlShowingEventArgs) _
Handles dgvRooms.EditingControlShowing

[Code].....

I put in a message box to check that it was capturing the event. I then noticed that it captures it more than once when you change the value.

The problem is when I go to click the down arrow on the row, the event is run once (message box show). Then you have to click a second time (event is run again with message box) before it shows the drop down list.

Then when you click on the value you wish in the drop down box it shows the message box (the only time I want it to run).

Then when I leave that row, it shows the message box two more times.

Effectively it goes to update the data 5 times, I only want to do it once.

I can not there is a pencil editing icon when you click on a row to the far left, and it appears when you leave the row, after already clicking on your value, it then checks on row leave that the values havn't changed, hence it runs two more times.

How do I make it so it only runs once on the value being changed?

Is there a way to disable the pencil editing, but still enable the combo box column to work? (be clickable and choose an option)

Combo Box - Disable SelectedIndex Changed Event During Form Load

Apr 26, 2010

I have a combo box on a form. I have a SelectedIndexChanged event, that displays a message box when the combo box has another item from it selected. This works fine. However when the form is loaded, I initially want to set the current drop down box item from the database, then AFTER I have set the current value, I want this event to work. Problem is from the get go when the form loads it asks me the question as its being changed from 'no data' to then be populated with a bunch of data and an item selected.

Prevent Value Changed Events From Firing On Form Initialization?

Jun 30, 2010

Consider a simple VB.NET form with a couple of radio buttons and a checkbox.

Each of the radio buttons has a CheckedChanged handler setup that performs some action based on the state of the checkbox.

My problem is, when I initialize on the default radiobutton to be checked (from the designer properties window) the CheckedChanged event is fired for that radio button, but the Checkbox hasn't been initialized yet so I either get a null pointer exception or the wrong value is used in the handler. Either way, I don't want that handler code to be run unless the user picks a radio button after the form has been loaded.

I currently get around this by not initializing the radio button, but I need to set that default eventually and the best place is from the designer. I also can add a boolean field that's not set to true until the form is fully loaded and not process the events if that is false, but it's a dirty hack.

What can I do to prevent that handler from running its code?

Double Click Firing On Single Click In Grid?

Jun 24, 2010

I have a grid that displays data from a binding source. I have a method to handle the CellContentDoubleClick which will get the value of the cell and use that to do a new look up. This will generate a new datasource (with different columns) which I then rebind to the grid.

My grid double click works, but when it repaints with the new data, a single click fires the double click. I have no code in place to handle a single click .

The interesting thing is that it is (in my case) a toggle. If I double click, on the repaint, a single click fires the double click code. When it repaints again, I need a double click .

The double click code fires off a messagebox - if I tell it not to continue, then I have to double click to get it to fire again. So it is not dependant on what data is displayed.

Devexpress Gridview Delete Event Is Firing Multiple Times

Jul 21, 2010

I have a Devexpress Gridview that is linked to a delete, fetch and update stored procedure. The problem I am having is that when I run my program, select a row in the grid and press delete it fires the event multiple times. Specifically it deletes the selected row and then I re-fetch the data so the focus returns to the first row. Which is what I want.

Unfortunately it starts at the beginning of my list and goes down it row by row deleting each row it comes to. It then continues several more times after the rows are deleted. I know this because for each deleted row it asks me if I want to delete it. If I say no then the rows appear to disappear until I manually refresh it after the deleting is done. To make this even more random the second row always reappears after I manually refresh the grid.

C# - Why Is Attached Property Property Changed Event Only Firing One Time

Nov 27, 2010

I have a listbox binded to a list of objects. For each list item I wanted to have a rectangle whose fill color is determined by a few properties of the binded object. So I did the following:

Made sure INotifyPropertyChanged was implemented on my object.Created a class to expose the properties I am interested in as attached properties.Binded the properties of the object to the attached properties of the rectangle Created a style that uses triggers to set the rectangle fill based on attached properties.

This works, but only the first time the property of the object changes. After that, the attached properties do not seem to be receiving notification when the data object's property changes. I have double checked and my data object is raising the INotifyPropertyChanged event.

<Rectangle Style="{StaticResource RecordStateRectangleStyle}"
Width="10" Height="10" Stroke="Black"
local:RecordAttachment.RecordState="{Binding Path=RecordState}"
local:RecordAttachment.IsDeleted="{Binding Path=IsDeleted}" />

Asp.net - Gridview Row Update Only When Changed, Javascript Not Changing Value?

I've got a gridview (ASP.net) inside of an update panel. I also have a "Save" button so that when I click "Save" it loops through all the rows of a grid view and passes the data to a stored procedure to update each row. This was too slow as sometimes I would be updating the database even though a change did not occur.

I decided to add a field in my gridview like so:

<asp:TemplateField>
<ItemTemplate>

ListView Click Event Not Firing?

Mar 3, 2010

Using VS 2005 I've created a project with some form on it. Each of the forms are fairly similar in structure and I have copied the contents of one form to another form etc. I have code the loads the data into the ListView on each form and that works fine but when I put a Click event on the ListView, it doesn't fire. I created a new project to do some testing and put some items in the ListView and the Click Event fires when I expect it. What am I overlooking? The code for the Form is included below: it loads the data fine and I can select a line in the ListView but as previously stated, the Click event just won't fire!

Datagridview Double-click Events Not Firing?

Jan 14, 2011

I have a windows form that can search for data and the results are results are returned in a Datagridview. The Datagridview is bound to a custom datatable object. On the CellDoubleClick and CellContentDoubleClick events, a new form is supposed to open which will display the results of that row. What I am noticing is that the datagridview doesn't always fire when I immediately double-click on a particular row. It would appear that I have to first click on the row to "select" it, then double-click the row so the event will fire. Is there a way to remove this intermediate "select" step? Is there a property in the Datagridview that needs to be activated so the double-click events will fire right away? Does something possibly need to be done in another DatagridView event?

Javascript - Button Click Event On Modal Popup, Inside A Grid-view Not Firing

Jun 10, 2012

I have a asp grid with a few columns that bind to data. The last column has been converted to a template-field. In this template-field is a button with a modal popup extender attached to it. Hidden inside this field is a modal popup. This modal popup is used to add a new account. it contains 2 text boxes, drop down lists and buttons("Add" and "Cancel"). When "add" is clicked the modal should close after the inserting of the new account in the code behind.

The Problem: I get the popup to display and load the Drop down lists from the cache, without problem. How do I get the button click event to fire in the code behind. I've tried using a JavaScript function that performs a _doPostBack('btnAddAcc','') but it keeps returning the error "JavaScript error: Object expected". I gathered after about 1 hour on Google that it is because "btnAddAcc' is not found because it is actually within the grid-view cell and can't be directly accessed. Using page methods and ajax calls is a last resort as the company has a strict policy against this and only allowes this after a bunch of paperwork.

The Code:

<asp:GridView ID="gvNEA" runat="server" CssClass="gridA_Orange"
AutoGenerateColumns="False" AllowPaging="True"
EmptyDataText="No transactions with 'Non Existent Account(s)'"

I have the PageIndexChange Event set up for other purposes, I would just like to add some functionality, perhaps a script manager to close the child popup page if the Gridview index is changed, java or another way which ever works best.I think I might also need to check if the child page is even open.
