C# - Create Controls Dynamically Based On Dropdown Values?
Jun 12, 2012
I need to create a sample question types web form in VB.NET which allow user to the following:he user selects the control type from dropdown (TextBox, RadioButton, ListBox etc). Generate controls dynamically based on the control type on the webform. It will always show the TextBox (where user writes the question) and (generated control - TextBox, RadioButton, ListBox etc) and save those values to the database.
Is it possible to select a value of a drop down by its dynamic index that is returning from another function whereas selectindex = 2 (generated dynamically)
I am dynamically creating and adding dropdown controls to DevExpress XtraGrid. That works fine and I can add a dropdown control to any column I wish.My main problem is that I need to have the first element in the dropdown control displayed. But after I dynamically add 3 dropdown controls to the grid, only the last one has the element displayed. The previous two do not.Although, I add the elements
this is what the code looks like:
vb.net Dim column as DevExpress.XtraGrid.RepositoryItem.GridLookupEdit For i as Integer = 0 to dsSometing.Tables(0).Rows.Count - 1 column = New DevExpress.XtraGrid.RepositoryItem.GridLookUp
[code]....
The code will go tru and add lets say 3 dropdown controls, set their .DataSource to datasets I need, but it will only show .NullText of the last added control.
How to set up a Chart using the new MS Chart control. I want to be able to populate the data via SQL because the user will be able to dynamically change the values via drop downs. The format of the data will be the same (Qty, Time Period) but the Focus of that data will change. I'm honestly not sure where to start, I can draw the chart but I have no idea how to populate it with data via code so it can be changed dynamically. VBE 2010, and I'm hitting an AccessDB
I have a WPF application that allows users to create questions of all different types which depending on the type will use a textbox, combobox, checkboxes, or radio buttons to allow the user to answer the question after they build some sort of questionnaire. My question is what is the best way to keep track of the answers across all the different controls after the controls are created and the questionnaire is created on the fly. Right now, i'm looping through all the containers and getting the values based on the controlType.
I have an asp.net web forms application. In this application, students upload assignments and submit a survey along with it. For the survey, I read values from DB and dynamically generate ASP.NET Controls like radiobuttonlist, checkboxlist, textbox on the form during gridview's RowDataBound Event. I cannot do it in Page_Init method because I create only if a user click on a specific assignment which requires a survey to be submitted.
When I submit the survey form, the survey values are not saved into database. During debugging I figured it out that the values are not available in the codebehind page. The radiobuttonlist.selectedvalue returns and I get following error[code]....
I've created a custom user control that has several properties. One specifies which database I want the control to access. I want to be able to present the user of the control a drop down from which he can select which database the control will interact with. How do I get the dropdown to work? I can get default values, but have yet to figure out how to get the selectable list.
I would like to format output to a property of a custom control I have made. For instance I have a literal control in my control and when populated I want to check if it is longer than 30 characters long, if so, then go to the next space (as to not cut the word off) after the 30th character and place a <br /> tag in to place the next 30 characters on the next line.So if there were 100 characters in a string, there would be 3 line breaks in the label.I have the looping worked out to get the label populated but cannot get how to dymaically create the array based on the string lenth property and index of method.
I have VB 2008 Express and I am also new to VB. My problem is I cannot find any assistance with creating an Event that is attached to a Control that I inserted on a dynamically creeated TabPage. I call the "create_tab" sub (below) that creates a New TabPage and add some Controls (Button, two textboxes). Now, that I have the TabPage (and there could be multiple), I want to bind an Event to these items. So when a user Clicks on the Button in TabPage1, for example, a Sub executes where I can manipulate the data contents of the textboxes. Here's My code that creates the tabpages dynamically.
I am looking to create several custom controls (PictureBox Derivatives) on during runtime. I've read that the best way is to create template controls that will be created, and duplicate them in the Controls array.
Well, that's all fine and dandy, but what's the best way to store the template? I considered a seperate form with all the templates laid out on it for easy access for my editing, and keeping them out of the user's sight. I also considdered doing a Struct for each template, and smply mirroring values onto the control being created from the Struct to the created control.
I'm looking for ease of development first and foremost, as I'm most likely going to have a vast number of these templates, and keeping the system as simple as possible will eliminate a lot of hair-pulling. After development ease, I'd go for optimisation.
I have a list of servers in the first dropdown. I want to get list of all databases in the second dropdown depending on the server selected in the first dropdown.
For this I need to query each server while selecting the server.
I have a pair of dropdown lists, they are linked in the sense that in it is basically a 2-d array. I have a list of accounts, and a list of domains for each account. So based on which account the user selects from the dropdown, I need to populate the domain list with the appropriate selections. Is there a way I can do this without [code]...
I have a GRIDVIEW with columns, one of which contains a CSV of possible values for the dropdown that must appear on each row.
Private Sub GridViewParameters_RowDataBound(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.GridViewRowEventArgs) Handles GridViewParameters.RowDataBound If e.Row.RowType = DataControlRowType.DataRow Then[code].....
Depending on whether the type of control is a dropdown, textbox, or check box (feined in the table) it hides or shows the relevant control type. If it is a dropdown it needs to get its values from a CSV in a corresponding column. I have a SP that returns a these in table form if passed the id of the relevant row.How do I get that is from the gridview to pass to the drop down and load it correctly?
I have three dropdowns, which are all loaded in the same function. How do I grey out dropdown 2 & 3? I want them to activate if a certain choice is made on dropdown 1.
We have a GUI that displays a radio selection box (3 options) that are the three sites where our hospitals are. We need to dropdown located on the form to fill with only the locations based on the selected radio option.
Here is the code behind we have so far (sorry, VB)
[Code]....
For the record the Location dropdown is currently databound but its a static SELECT statement which brings us all the locations but we'd prefer it to be cleaner if it only returned the locations based on Site. We are using Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition for development.
how I can get this to work. I want to distinguish dropdown controls inside a repeater control. I understand now about the lifecyle and how the buffer is already writen, but what are my alternatives? Here is what happens
Code File
Dim repeatTimes((TotalAdInsured - 1)) As Integer myRepeater.DataSource = repeatTimes myRepeater.DataBind()
I want to Update Column of a Table where ColumnName will be DropDown.SelectedValue.Example: A set of RECORDS will be displayed from a Customer Table where CUstNo ='1234' and City= 'Chicago' and Grade ='B' Once displayed I want to Update the grade to 'A' of all those customers from the above criteria. In My case I have like 100 Columns, so in where Clause Column Names will be selected from a DaropDown. In My Query, Update Customer SET ColumnName= 'some value' where ColumnName ='ActualValue'So how can I pass the ColumnName which is Dropdown Selected Value. I believe I can't give as Update Customer SET DropDown.SelectedValue = 'some value' where DropDown.SelectedValue ='ActualValue'
I want to populate the dropdownlist ddVerantwortlich1 with the people with the proper credentials based on the selected process step ddProzesss chritt1.It doesn't work if I want to change it using datasource and databindi have to manually loop through the table in the dataset returned from the query. then it works. but not otherwise.[code]
Since we have to resize the combo box dropdown area based on the combo box item length, used the drawstring() to add items to combo based on the item length. This gave us the below issue: On moving the cursor on the drop down area the font color and the background color are back hence the text is not readable (i.e. the whole item becomes black).
Below piece of code is used to achieve this, Private Sub cboClient_DrawItem(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DrawItemEventArgs) [Code] .....
We tried changing font color and the dropdown area backcolor on selecting a particular item. How to make the text readable (i.e. the font color should change while if we scroll on the item).
I've been scouring the net, and can't seem to find a solution that works.I have a page done in ASP.NET (in VB) that has a drop down list populated by an SQL query. My dropdown list gets renders as follows (information slightly altered):
I have an ASP.net table. In several cells I have two dropdown lists. The item selected in each dropdownlist is supposed to be populated from an SQLServer 2005 database. To do this in my code behind I step through the controls in each table cell. The code sees the first dropdown and populates it and then goes to the next cell.
I'm using a repeater ListOfArticles and have controls inside it like ddlSizes and btnSelectArticle. Normally you can just double click the control and in the aspx.vb page you can specify an action. I have heard something about Findcontrol, but can't figure out or find much information that I understand. I don't want to sound like an ass, but I would really prefer help for the aspx.vb page and not in C# or Javascript.
An example of what I'm trying to do is, once you've clicked btnSelectArticle the label lblSelection receives the following values Amount: txtAmount - Size: ddlSizes.SelectedValue.
I want to retrieve value from database.........I have a sql table with (Username [Primary Key] , Friends, dob, contact ) columns; table name is MyFriends
Now Code is...... string qry = "select Friends from MyFriends where UserName='hrs'"; da = new SqlDataAdapter(qry, connection);
I have a custom control of type MyListControl with a Property called NotifiedList. I would like that when selecting that property in the Property Grid at runtime, that a dropdown list is populated with all the instances of type MyListControl that shared the same container as the original control.
I have a custom control. I need to add a property, say, Comparison, to the control. The property should be set at design time using a dropdown. The Dropdown will have String values like '=','>','<' etc. I tried using Enum values and working perfectly but I need to do some extra coding to convert the Enum values to the string I required. It would be great if I can get the values from the dropdown so that I can directly use the selcted value.
