C# - Produce A PDF Report From Code In .NET For Scientific Data (winforms)?
Mar 13, 2011
I have a "legacy" VB.NET application (winforms) written for .NET 1.1, and re-compiled under 2.0 that produces a report in HTML via a custom XmlTextWriter wrapper that is suited for HTML. The user then would print the report into pdf if they wanted to.
That was 2003, and now technology has changed a bit, especially within the C#/VB.NET world, and customers want to skip the HTML part, and go to PDF directly. What are my options for open source, or low cost PDF libraries that work well with .NET and must support tables with pictures (generated bitmaps from code) and text.
i'm a freshman and was handed this assignment a short while ago and i'm having extreme difficulty figuring out why i keep getting the following error message whenever i click btnGenerate.Click on the form:Error1: Unable to apply this change while debugging. 'Private Sub GroupBox1_Enter(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles GroupBox1.Enter' was deleted that modifies 'Public Class Form1'. You must revert the change or stop the debugging sessionBasically the assignment is requesting that we build a 'Call Cost Calculator' and since im relatively new to this i've never worked with strings before and also get the follow errors:Warning2Variable 'sCountryBeingPhoned' is used before it has been assigned a value. A null reference exception could result at runtime.Warning3Variable 'sPhonePlan' is used before it has been assigned a value. A null reference exception could result at runtime.
My form codes: vb Public Class Form1 'heading Const sFormHeading As String = "Call Cost
[code]....
I reals because it's driving me mad and i'm honestly quite literally stuck and can't move on until i get this sorted.
I am trying to rewrite some code and I am trying to determine if I am writing it correctly. My goal is to make sure that the old code and my new code produce the same results(i.e. are logically equivalent). Are the 2 code blocks below equivalent?

how I can reference a report variable in the Report Properties Code Window of a local report? I have tried Variables!Claimant.Value (for a variable called Claimant) but I get an error "Reference to a non-shared member requires an object reference." I have tried qualifying it with Report. and also with the report name in front of it but I get errors with this also.I have the variable CLaimant defined in the Variables section of the Report Properties.
I have data formatted as an ASCII text file with easting, northing, and depth fields. I've attempted an arrayList with some success, but there has to be a better and more efficient approach.
I have a grid containing rows flagged with different priorities. I want to color the high priority rows red, low ones blue, etc. I'd like to set the shade based on a mathmatically calculated gradient rather than arbitrarily assigning colors to specific priorities. How can I extract a single color from a single point along gradient?
I would like to ask something about Network in VB.NetI try to search network code sample to produce VB.Net application (Like Server and client)But I found a lot of codes (Server and client) and the codes are very complicated for me because codes are mixed with chatting process So I would like to know or want some sample Network VB.Net application(code) the application has two forms
form1(server) and form2(client)
form2(client) has (one button or textbox)
form1(server) can make visible or invisible (button or textbox) of the form2 (Like that code, I can able to make or learn other processes) I want to know how to code it. If I can get the code, I can learn more smoothly with various way
i will need to generate a report based on user input for every food that will look like this:i plan to have a pdf displayed on a winform using the adobe pdf reader control. the pdf will be the header of the above graphic, but the list of foods and the reactions will be generated. this is what i need: i need the form to be printable to exactly at a usual paper size, what ever it is 8.5x11 or something i need to have images and probably textboxes that will go on top of the pdf. so each food name will probably be a separate textbox and each reaction picture will be created during run time from the user input.i would like to clarify that i will not need to generate a new pdf file. i will just use an existing pdf file and will put images and text over it what is the simplest way to accomplish this report?
Been casually working on getting my users out of the DB completely. We use a vb.net app I created as a front-end but there are many reports that were built in Access and I want to give my users a way to open Access and run the report via my WinForms app.
Have gotten as far as being able to open an instance of Access and do what I need to do. Where I left off was running into a problem with not being able to tell if an instance of the msaccess.exe process is running and use it instead of opening another.
I'm trying to do a Report Designer for end user. Like the one that adds vb.net when u add to proyect a .rpt file. But i wanted to do it on the run, so the end user can change the desing of the report as they want.
I am using window programming in visual studio(2008) and i am using LINQ and need to get the data from three table's column e.g A table's 1st column(x),b table's 2nd column(y) and c's table third column(z), and then i have to produce the excel sheet(CSV file).I want to get the table's data in string format in visual studio and then produce the excel sheet.I don't want to use Store procedure and grid view in my program.
If I have the following code I expect to see FF and AA in a Realterm capture window.Instead I get C3 BF.why I cannot output data on a comport and expect to see the same data captured?
Dim aChars() As Char ReDim aChars(1) aChars(0) = Chr(255)[code]......
I'm having a problem with my crystal report with regards to report footer. I want to display the data from the table, column name "Remarks" in report footer but when I try to call the data it doesn't show the remarks. I'm using VB 6 and mdb files as my back end. Is there any command or fundamental that I've missed?
I need advise on how to solve this scenario. I am not sure whether I should use any Report Application such as Crystal Report or I can just simply use datagridview. My scenario:In a new form, a table will show a least 3 columns.
First, ItemID
2nd, Total Quantity Sold for the Current Month
3rd, Total Quantity Sold: Last month
ItemID Current (Nov) October ABA1 100 85 ABB1 80 90
Hence, I can compare the figure of the current month with the past few month.Right now, I do not have any problems building SQL_String for calculating the Total Qty Sold for the Current month and display it via DataGridView. But I am not sure how to additional column that calculate the Total for the past few month
I am trying to convert a VB6 Data Report (.dsr file) to a Crystal Report through the migration process within Visual Studio. I have read articles that reference adding a Data Report to a Project from Visual Studio 2005/2008 and that it will convert the Data Report to a Crystal Report, but I have not been successful in doing so. Does the VB6 Data Environment need to be converted too? Has anyone been able to do this successfully and if so, how?
Can you look at my coding and let me know what I'm missing or doing wrong?I have a SSRS report that is called from a ReportViewer control and the ProcessingMode for this control is Remote. The report also has 1 parameter in it's DataSet.In the code I placed a MsgBox to make sure the code is finding the parameter and returning the parameter name. I am trying to stick the value of 10 into the parameter for playerID 10. Data for this player does exist.
I believe I need to add some more code to make this work but I'm not sure what else to add.
When the code executes the report is displayed but no data is shown in the report.
I have a working Windows Forms app (split into an EXE and a few DLLs). Now I've been asked to look at creating another app (MyAppLite) that has only a very small subset of the functionality. Think of it as similar to MS Word Viewer vs. MS Word.
Everything that I need to build MyAppLite is contained in the main solution - essentially I need to use a couple of the WinForms and whatever bits in the DLLs they call into.
What would be the best way to do this?
I was thinking of creating another Project in my solution for MyAppLite, then adding the necessary source files as links (using Add Existing Item > Add As Link in Solution Explorer).
I definitely wouldn't want to maintain 2 copies of the source code. FYI it's a .NET 2.0 VB app, using VS2008.
I'm trying to build a scientific calculator with vb .net, except it is vista glass :-p
I basically want the user to be able to enter an equation like SQRT(5 * 6) / (2 ^ 4) and then I want vb to use system.math to solve it. If I write this in my code, vb is able to do it, so how could I do this at runtime.
