I am reading a csv file in to a datatable in vb.net and making a few checks and appending an extra column. I then want to perform a bulk insert using microsofts Oracle.DataAccess (no choice in this) to an Oracle database. what would be the best way to perform this as there is no bulkImport like in SQLserver.

Can Not Load File Or Assembly 'Oracle.DataAccess'

Sep 19, 2011

I am having a strange problem since installing the latest version of ODAC, 11.2.0.2.1. I installed both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions because I develop applications for both architectures. My computer is Win 7 64-bit.

Since installing ODAC and referencing the new 64-bit version of ODP.NET, one of my web application projects in Visual Studio 2010 gives the following warning for all aspx pages and masterpages when I view them in Markup View.

ASP.NET runtime error: Could not load file or assembly 'Oracle.DataAccess' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.

The warning is limited to Markup View. The web application builds and runs fine. I tried cleaning the VS Temporary ASP.NET Files, but that did not fix the issue. I removed all references to Oracle.DataAccess throughout my application, and then readded them to be sure that all the references were correct. The web app is compiled to 'Any CPU' but it uses the 64-bit Oracle.DataAccess. I created a new project, and referenced the same projects and dlls, and I do not get the warning, so it appears to be specific to this project file.

Oracle 10g To 11g Release 2

Apr 21, 2010

Currently we are using the Microsoft data access library Writen with a Oracle data provider for the framework 1.1. My customer has mandated that we upgrade from Oracle 10G to 11G release 2. 11G requires the .net framework 2.0 Is there a way to use the new Oracle data provider 11g release 2 with the older frame work. I have looked at/attempted changing the policy for oracle in the Windows assembly but my understanding is because its a third party DLL, I cannot.

Using Selection.Find In Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word To Find Tracked Changes In A Document?

Apr 15, 2009

I am currently using the code below within a VB.Net application to find specific text in a Word document. The text is surrounded by symbols represented by the character codes in the .Text statement. The code below is working fine. The issue now is that sometimes the desired text within a document has been marked for deletion and appears as tracked change within the document. I would like to find only the desired text that has NOT been marked for deletion. Does anyone know of a way to determine if the found text is a deletion?

.net Issue With Oracle Session?

Mar 6, 2009

i noticed in vb.net that when declaring new connection objects it creates a new session. and sometimes it reuses an existing one.is this an expected behavior?

in my application i created a global temporary table. in oracle, this acts like a table but session based. the behavior mentioned above is causing some issues with my temporary table as new sessions are being created and thus, i'm not able to get the desired data from the table.i thought of using a global connection but not sure if this is the best way.

Asp.net - Intermittent .net Oracle Connection?

Aug 22, 2011

I am seeing a strange intermittent connection failure. My application works just fine and then starts throwing connection failure exceptions. A reset of IIS is required before the app will start working again.I've been able to trace a few of the failures back to an unexpected restart of the oracle cluster but not all of them. Has anyone else seen this problem? I've searched the web but haven't found anything.

Client - Win2003 server, IIS running ASP.net 2.0.50727, code is VB.NET, ODBC connection via Oracle Client 10.2.0.1.0 Server - Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bit Production on a Linux cluster.

Big Performance With Oracle DataReader In .Net

Nov 10, 2010

I have a few Oracle procedures that generate/return a large amount of data that I need to write out to a file.I'm currently trying to accomplish with a data-reader. It seems to be working, I've successfully generated a 479mb file without any trouble. It took less than 4 minutes from the time I retrieved the dataReader to complete the file. But the dataReader I get for a particular procedure is crawling. It's unbelievably slow.I modified my code to try and get a better idea of what is going on[code]I'm writing a PL/SQL block that will open that cursor to see if the performance issue exists when I remove the .Net code..

Connecting To Local 10g Oracle DB?

Nov 3, 2009

I am trying to connect a simple VB program (Form, button and label) to my local oracle 10g XE and keep getting errors. The most recent errors is the TNS listener

"Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleException ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified "

Here is what I have done:

Went to control panel > odbc and created a connection to 10g XE and called it:

oraconn (this was from other tutorial so it is not used in code but still resides)

Copied tutorial about connecting to oracle and have the following code:

Imports System.Data
Imports Oracle.DataAccess.Client
Imports Oracle.DataAccess.Types

Connection String To Oracle 10g DB?

i am trying to connect to it via VB.net 2010. I have been trying the following:

Dim myConnection As OleDbConnection
Dim myCommand As OleDbCommand
Dim dr As OleDbDataReader

[Code]....

And i get the error on the Catch ee As Exception line: ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error

I also have a tnsnames.ora file on my computer but i am unsure if i need to use that when connecting (or really, how too in the first place)? Is it needed for the code above?

I am trying to use a DNS-Less connection to the DB. Not sure if that is what it is doing in this or not?

Distributing An App That Connects To Oracle 9

Nov 18, 2010

VB2005: So I created an app that connects to an Oracle 9.2.0.1 using the .net oracle adapter. I can issue queries and process the results. This all works fine on my development machine but now that i have distributed the app to my group I find that it bombs on certain workstations, specifically when it comes to connecting to the Oracle db. I've done a little bit of research but havent come up with anything definitive.

So what should I install on my users desktops to make sure that the connection works?
