View 1 RepliesI have a listview that is populated with data. When I select a row the data is added to my textboxes for viewing editing etc. I want the row to stay focused while I am editing a textbox. I have set the property Hide selection to false for my list view but I still lose focus of the row.

View 2 RepliesDuring my program I put lines out to a text box on the screen as a form of logs.After each line is added I do a ScrollToCaret() to move to the end of the lines.However, if I'm manually scrolling around the logs/lines (eg: using the scroll bar) I don't want to that.
Is there something I can check so as not it issue the ScrollToCaret() if the user if currently scrolling around in the text box?
i have a panel on a form and i have various controls inside the panel which i then shrink and enable the panels scrollbar so i can scroll through the controls. i am trying to get the exact size of the panel (unshrunk).for example the panel is 500 pixels in width and i then shrink the panel down to 300 pixels and enable the scrollbar. when i try to get the size of the panel using code like
panel1.size.width.tostring
it keeps telling me the panel is 300 pixels long ..which yes it is because i shrunk it down but i want to get the full size of the panel which should be 500.
A simple form with a combobox called Combo, drawing artifacts when using ComboBox with Custom Draw and the contents of the combobox is scrolled up or down, and with this source code, illustrates the issue:
Public Class Form1
Private Sub Combo_DrawItem(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DrawItemEventArgs) Handles Combo.DrawItem
Dim Combo As ComboBox = TryCast(sender, ComboBox)
If Combo Is Nothing Then Exit Sub
If e.Index = -1 Or e.Index >= Combo.Items.Count Then
e.DrawBackground()

I set up an Openfiledialog and put in an initial filename value (the last filename the user opened).However, when the dialog shows up, it is as if the filename has been scrolled off to the left.I only see about the last 10 characters of the name, even though the filename field is big enough to show the whole name.It is also selected, which is ok - it means if the user types a name the value will replace what I've put there, which is reasonable behavior.How do I control this 'scrolling'?I call it scrolling even though there is no scroll bar.If I click in the field and use the left arrow key I can back up to the beginning of the filename - the filename gradually shifts into view about 10 characters at a time, until I reach its beginning, at which time I see the entire filename in the filename field which is how I'd like to have things when the opendialog opens.
View 4 RepliesI am modifying some code I found here to test to see if a user has scrolled to the end of the control. In this case the control is a Crystal Viewer but I posted here because I think the issue is based on the vertical scrollbar not the Crystal Viewer itself.
The code flags an error at
Me.CRViewer.Controls.OfType
Indicating 'OfType' is not a member of 'System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlCollection'.
I understand the concept that I can't reference something that it is not but I don't know how to fix it. The original code was for a DataGridView.
The ultimate goal (not finished) is to find out when the user has used the mouse or possibly the scroll bar itself and if it hits the bottom of the page of the viewer, then trigger a new page so it looks like they can just keep using the mouse to scroll.
Public Sub New()
Me.InitializeComponent()
Dim vscroll As VScrollBar = Me.CRViewer.Controls.OfType(Of VScrollBar)

I am writing a GUI application to run on a touchscreen device using VB.NET and WPF--it must be full screen at all times, like a kiosk app; the window must not be able to resize or move in any way. The window contains a ListBox that users can currently scroll through by dragging across the list. The problem I'm seeing is that when the user drags across the list, the whole window moves a bit, exposing the desktop underneath, then springs back into place once the user stops dragging. I have not been able to figure out how to keep the window stationary while still allowing users to drag across the ListBox to view all list items. Here is a somewhat simplified version of my code:

How do I retrieve the name of a textbox that has the focus? I have many textboxes on my form and when the user right clicks anywhere in one of the textboxes I want my code to store the name of the textbox in a string variable such as NameOfSelectedTextBoxString as string.
View 13 RepliesI am using Dev Express to develop a form in which i have a GridControl with a View inside a View.It looks like this:
I am then trying to use the event ValidatingEditor to validate the user input.I tried to do that by doing:
Private Sub grvObsAM_Artigos_ValidatingEditor(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As DevExpress.XtraEditors.Controls.BaseContainerValidateEditorEventArgs) Handles grvObsAM_Artigos.ValidatingEditor
Dim row As Integer = Me.grvObsAM_Artigos.FocusedRowHandle
This, however always returns me something like -99999.. I poked around and tried this other solution using the sender from the event:
Private Sub grvObsAM_Artigos_ValidatingEditor(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As DevExpress.XtraEditors.Controls.BaseContainerValidateEditorEventArgs) Handles grvObsAM_Artigos.ValidatingEditor
Dim grv As DevExpress.XtraGrid.Views.Grid.GridView = CType(sender, DevExpress.XtraGrid.Views.Grid.GridView)
Dim row As Integer = grv.FocusedRowHandle
And using this second solution i managed to get the focused row handle. Even though this worked this time (because the event was triggered by the view itself and i had access to the sender) this doesn't solve my problem as there are other events where the sender is not the view and the problem persists.Usign Me.grvObsAM_Artigos."insert anything here" doesn't seem to work properly.
I have a Class(ChorNumbers) and in this class i have a Function that test textbox1...17 is a Character or a Number.I create a WindowsForm that have 9 textboxs. I just read a recent article here at the code guru about the flip-3d feature available on Vista and Windows 7.It allows, you to place an application above, or below the windows being flipped.
Here is a VB example of that code really neat code.
Code:
Const DWMWA_FLIP3D_POLICY As Int32 = 8
Const DWMWA_EXCLUDE_NONE As Int32 = 0
Const DWMWA_EXCLUDE_BELOW As Int32 = 1
Const DWMWA_EXCLUDE_ABOVE As Int32 = 2

I am aware of the 'topmost' keyword in VB.NET for specifying a window to be brought to the front or top of the display windows showing. However, specifying 'xlApp.topmost' is resulting in a compile error in my VB 2010 Express project; most likely because my project doesn't include a reference that it needs for 'xlApp.topmost' to start working. What reference do I need to add?
View 2 RepliesI am trying to write a program that displays a medium opacity image as the topmost form. that I can handle, the part that is giving me trouble is that I want windows to "ignore" the topmost picture form and allow me to interact with any forms behind it (mine or otherwise) as if the see-through form isn't there. I have searched all over but cant seem to find a way to do this.

Is there anyway for a form to become in focus.. basically something like Me.inFocused = True, In order to print a form, it must be visible and in focus, so I need to focus on it without the user having to click it so that I can send the form to a printer
View 1 RepliesI'm writing a program that's supposed to keep the employees at my work away from doing things they're not supposed to on the computer. So I made a "launcher" window that's only closeable with password. I also disabled task manager. However when I start an application from my launcher window, the launcher window goes over it because of its topmost property.
View 2 RepliesI am creating a 2D RPG game similar to the pokemon interface. After solving my problem with walls, I came across another problem. If I make the panel show the whole map, it would be too small. Thus, I tried to increased the size to 1200,1200, but it wouldn't let me because my screen is smaller than that. Then I thought about it and realized that most games limit the sight of the map to the characters surroundings.

View 1 RepliesI have multiple textbox in a form. How do I know what textbox the cursor currently is? Trying to do something like this:

End If
But I think its not working.
I have my menustrip with the standard edit items. I know I can do this:
If TextBox1.Focused = True Then
TextBox1.Undo()
ElseIf TextBox2.Focused = True Then
TextBox2.Undo()
'Ect. Ect. Ect.
End If until I type out every textbox. However, I have like 30 textboxes and don't want to type out every textbox to see if they have focus. Is there a work around for that?

I'm programming a Minesweeper clone in Visual Studio 2010, with VB.NET, as a Windows Form Application, and I'm having trouble with the Game Won and Game Lost forms. When I show those forms, I want the game form to still be visible, so that the player can see where the mines were, but I don't want the game form to be enabled until the Game Won or Game Lost form is closed. Exactly like Windows Minesweeper does when you win or lose.

By this I can see that for example Outlook or Internet Explorer is the topmost window as the name is in Window's title bar. However, if the user crates a new mail in Outlook the title of the window is "Untitled message" givning no hint of what application is running in the the window.
How do I get what application is connected to the topmost window?
I'm trying to make one form in my application always on top of other forms. Not the 'topmost' property, I want it on top JUST within the application.
