For example if I blank out the third column header in Excel spreadsheet, the dataset assigns it as "F3" as its column header which is making the above code ineffective. I have two rich text boxes, and two buttons on my screen. The first button grabs HTML from a URL and then converts the HTML to XML which resides in rich text box 1.
The second button is to grab the XML from the rich text box1 and then parse it to grab all the input elements by their ID.
My issue is that my parser isn't doing anything. My guess is that I'm not quite getting the XML from the first rich text box.
What would be the best way to grab the XML from a rich text box load it into memory and then parse the XML to grab all the ID tags?

View 6 RepliesI am using Visual studio 2008 trial edition and SQL server to make a VB.NET app. I have a windows form which i use to add information to a database, by using a dataset. I recently increased the precision of a column using SQL server manager. I went from numeric(8, 4) to numeric(10, 6). I have my datatable's column set to system.decimal with a maxlength of -1. The problem is when i try and add a row using my program, the column now truncates the values as if it was still set to numeric(8, 4). I have checked my controls to make sure they are not truncating. I am currently creating a row and filling it with values and then adding it to the dataset and then updating the dataset. When i look at the locals during run time the row has the correct truncated value before and after i add it to the dataset but the truncated value is getting added to the database. I have tried manual entering data that is to large for the numeric(8, 4) and the database excepts it. It seem like the dataset does not realize the database has changed.

I built my programs in VB 2010 using a temporary dataset on my computer.I am not ready to have them address the dataset on the server, but when I call up the dataset to change the path, the full path is light gray and I can not change it.If I delete the dataset, it will ruin all of the forms that automatically populate from the dataset. The way the code is suppose to work is that when a user logs in, the application gets the user's site ID (gvUserSite), then uses that to set the connection string. But when I log on with a SiteID of "21" it always uses the Case Else value. Also when I set breakpoints in settings.vb the application never stops on the breakpoints I set during runtime. As if the breakpoints were never set. Also if I put any code in the "MySettings_SettingChanging" in settings.vb I get a runtime error

Update problem : When i check DataSet.HasChanges() it return false, unless position change (move next or previews) it return True.

My form holds a group of textbox's that get data from a dataset, it also has a navigator on it to nav the records.I'm trying to have the "title" or text of the form itself change with the contents of the dataset, I can make it change using the nav button events, but I have to put code into every single event (bindingnavigatorMoveFirst_click, movenext.... etc) and the title does not show when the form first loads that way.

This dataset underlies a form and conventional drag/drop controls are in place for data entry.when the event triggers and runs, I am running code in the form that checks the dataset.HasChanges property. It is showing False. But this is immediately after the ColumnChanging event has been triggered.Okay, I see by others posts and MSDN that .HasChanges will only be true after moving off the row with the changed column. I have also noted lots of discussion about the advanced binding property of DataSourceUpdate Mode, but that does not address this issue.I guess I can do this by checking the state of the row for the binding source. Just seems odd that the event behind the dataset can be triggered and that does not change the dataset.HasChanges property.

If I change the SELECT statement to just SELECT * FROM xTable I get the correct number of records in each table. But anytime I try with a more complex statement I get the error message shown below which indicates System.Data.Common.DbDataAdapter.Fill(DataSet dataSet. I've completely erased all data and entered a new set of test data so I know there is no problem with relationships. Each table has primary key which is foreign key in other table.
