I've finally got a project compiled and tested and ready to roll out.I have discovered that the "Publish" option is not what it seems, and that we must create a separate "Setup Project" to carry out the task of installing the files.This is not the most intuitive process I've seen, and the online help on that subject is not easy to understand.I was hoping that someone could direct me to a tutorial or guide that would step me through the specific approach I need. Many of the other guides online are vague and address multiple scenarios and do not separate the approaches very well.I have the contents of my project in /bin/release. It runs nicely by iteself with no errors.Here's what I need:
1. To create a setup exe that I can distribute that will install my software, with all of the supporting (resource) files and folders.
2. I need the setup process to force the installer to "agree" to a EULA.
3. I'd would like to provide an image on the installation screen/popup.
4. I would like the software registered in the registry and rely on it being there in the registry.
5. I need it to default to program filesprojectname (it does by default)

I new to this Forum and relatively new to VB programming. I have read some really good posts here and thought I would ask about a perplexing problem I'm having. I createdindows Form application, built it and deployed it with no problems. However, when I added a small block of code, re-built the app and went to add the app to the Project Output Group in the file system editor the project was not in the Project drop down list. I closed the Setup project and deleted it from the project folder and checked my code and re-built the app and tried the Set Up project again with the same result

Is it possible to set a project default for VB.NET winforms projects so that the default Modifier for controls added to winforms is Private (not Friend)?I know there's a "modifiers" property in the properties window so I can set it for each individual control however I would like to change the project so from now on myself and other developers have to specifically decide to change from friend to private. (Which I would strongly discourage them from doing).I believe there is no way of doing this, but on another forum a while ago someone mentioned it would be possible with an add-in (but didn't name the add-in or where to get it).

I made one application form in vb.net and access as database,in this form there is a imagebox field where i can upload the images.i put one default image when the form gets loaded. i want to save this default image if i dont upload an image.And another problem i'm facing is i want to deploy my project on another system but when i'm deploying my project, the database is not connecting so i've to add database separately on the other system even though i'm adding database during setup.May be i'm going somewhere wrong.how should i add database while setup and save the default image.

I'm trying to change the default icon of my program to something else. Specifcally, the one that is associated with the executable file.I was under the impression that if you set the icon property on the main form, that it will carry over to everything else. when I try to set the icon, I get an error message stating that "The arugment 'picture' must be a picture that can be used as an icon. I have a 32x32 icon that is saves as .ico but it doesn't work.

How to set up a Chart using the new MS Chart control. I want to be able to populate the data via SQL because the user will be able to dynamically change the values via drop downs. The format of the data will be the same (Qty, Time Period) but the Focus of that data will change. I'm honestly not sure where to start, I can draw the chart but I have no idea how to populate it with data via code so it can be changed dynamically.

I've added a setup and deployment package to my project. When I go to install it the first screen says "Welcome to the setup setup wizard." Obviously, that doesn't look right. I want to change this, but can't figure out where that setting is. How to rename that setting so that it says "Welcome to the Wonderful Program setup wizard" instead?

I have a form with buttons, and the user can change the colors of the buttons with the color dialog box for fun:
Button_Play.BackColor = ColorDialog.Color
There is a reset button to put the colors to how they were without any special coloring, but I can't get them to go back to how they originally looked.They go to gray in the middle, instead of the nice shaded blue/gray style. I have tried a few different things:
Button_Play.BackColor = Button.DefaultBackColor
Button_Play.BackColor = SystemColors.Control
Button_Play.BackColor = Color.Empty
I am using VB '08 Express on Win XP with the Desktop, Display Properties, Appearance, Windows and Buttons: set to Media Center Style and Color Scheme: set to Energy Blue. how to (with this theme) get the button to look like default after changing the color?

When you add a label from the the toolbox, the default font is always Microsoft Sans Serif, Regular, 8. I like to use Ariel as my font of choice. Is there a way to change the default font setting so I don't have to pick the font I want every time? I've looked under Tools->Options->Environment->Fonts and Colors and I can't find it there.

Return " Hello."
End Function

I am using vs 2003 to build a setup project but got this error message"Could not find file ..., Not enough storage is available to complete this operation."I checked the path of the file, it is correct. After I remove this file from the setup project, I can build it successfully and the result msi file is about 250MB, the file I removed is about 260MB, is there any limitation about the size of the file in setup project or the total size of msi file? If so, how can I build the setup project?
