It looks like there is a bug in the DateTimePicker control, because I don't find any event specific for the changing the check state of the checkbox, only the ValueChanged event seems available. So that event should trigger every time the date in a dtp is changed manualy, or by choosing a date from the calender or when the checkbox in the dtp is checked or unchecked by clicking on it, the event ValueChanged should be triggered. But it doesn't do that all the time.
I have a windows application that need to process som quite time consuming jobs. In my first try i did all processing under the form thread. The result was bad response and update of the form due to the heavy jobs.To get around the problem with bad response from the form i created a new class "processing" where i put all the data processing. Then i instanciated a background worker where i in the "doWork" sub created a new instance of "processing".The "processing" class creates a timer from system.timer, and the timer drives the processing. On the Timer event Elapsed the timer starts a new thread from the thread pool.
My problem is now when i want to asynchronously close the background worker (with the corresponding function call what ever it is called ...) there is still a timer thread out there that causes exceptions for me.
1. How can i close my background worker and at the same time have the timer to be stopped?
2. Is there a way to synchronize the timer event so that the timer executes from the background worker thread?
I want to create an array of timer in vb.net. My problem is that how will i raise the tick event for a particular timer, say mytimer(x).tick and inside the tick event there is also a button, say mybutton(x) which changes location every interval. for example:
public class blah dim mybuttons(20) as button dim mytimer(20) as timer private sub form_load(....) handles me.load for x as integer = 0 to 20
[Code]...
i dont know what to do next, all i want is to pass the button mybuttons(x) to mytimer(x) tick event, in which their index number are the same. i want to create one timer per button. how to do that? please help me and post example codes. i've researched the net but i cant understand passing variables, addhandlers, etc. i'm just new to programming object oriented.
If I have an event that starts a timer with an interval of say, 30 minutes, and 15 minutes later, the computer the app is running on sleeps (Suspend to RAM) or Hibernates (Suspend to Disk), and is brought back online after ten minutes, will the timer raise its Tick event in 5 minutes (30 minutes REAL time from the start) or 15 minutes (30 minutes RUNTIME from the start)?
I have a WPF window with a TreeView that contains a checkbox at each node. I want to be able to capture the state of the checkboxes but I don't know how. (I am trying to do this without writing much of the code in XML)
Eg. ""vb.net" timer event trigger on purpose". This application is meant to run at all times to download a web page every minute. To avoid freezing the UI, I read that the best solution is to move the code from a While/Sleep loop to a Timer that will be triggered every minute. The problem I have, is that the user must wait for a minute before the event is triggered:
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Timer1.Interval = 60000 Timer1.Enabled = True
[CODE]...
Is it possible to force this event to occur instead of waiting for it?
When windows starts, my app starts. Whenever my app is running, it hides the desktop, taskbar, etc... When a button is clicked in my application ("Start program"), then my application will set its visible property at false and another application will start.
Everything seems to work perfect except I need a way for my application to set its visible property back to true, but only once the other application that was started earlier, is closed (no longer running.)
My thought was that I could use a timer to check for the applications state every so many seconds:[code...]
I have 2 concerns with this:
1. A timer checking this every few seconds will invoke unneeded stress on a computer since they are running for sometimes very long periods of time.
2. There is a better way to accomplish this that doesnt rely on a timer.
Recently I was handling a TCP/IP server-client window-based program in VB.NET. But in VB.NET. after I include the winsock on it, it cannot check the state. Normally, in VB6, to check the state is as below: If
Using .Net, I need to generate a response based on only the checkboxes on my form that have had there states changed. So how do I know if the check box has changed from its previous value before submission. I can't use the onchange event because the user may check multiple boxes before submitting.
How to check weather the window is currently maximized or restored. I want to do something like if window state maximized then border none and if window state regular, then form border style sizable. This is what I wrote
In Visual Studio 2010 is it possible to check the state of variables during run time. When a run time error occurs the error is highlighted and you are able to mouse over different variables to see their values when the error happened. I would like to do something similar except without the error.
Is it possible to run a timer inside of a module? [Code] When I try to debug the application, I get the following error. "Object variable or With block variable not set" Any solutions?
I am a C# programmer but dabbling in VB.Net because everybody else in my team uses it. In the interests of professional development I would like to shrink the following If... Else... statement.
If cmd.Parameters("@whenUpdated").Equals(DBNull.Value) Then item.WhenUpdated = Nothing Else item.WhenUpdated = cmd.Parameters("@whenUpdated").Value End If
So what I'm trying to do is have a program read a text file and use the information to set which checkedlistbox has which check boxes checked and which ones don't.Here's the code I have so far (filepath is the string I use to determine what file is the reference file and is changed when necessary through a different sub routine):
I have a DataGridView that has columns with a value type of boolean. To load the DataGridView, I load values into a DataTable then set theDataGridView.DataSource = theTable What value can I use in the table to load an intermediate check state?
Would it be better to use a check box control with a value than to use a column set to the boolean data type?
The check box is for display only, and will not need to be changed.
I have a DataList inside another DataList. I want to access the child DataList "dlQuestion" events, ItemDataBound event. Also, I'm tring to find the control LableControl "lblQuestion" in the child datalist. How do I do that? Here's the mark-up:
I'm just trying to figure out how to use a Timer inside a Page that is using the NavigationService. Here is what I have:
Public Class SplashPage Inherits Page Public Sub New(ByVal oData As Object) StartTimer(5000)
[code]....
The NavigationService.CanGoBack statement is causing the error message: "The calling thread cannot access this object because a different thread owns it."
For almost a week I am reading and trying to find a solution for checking connection state using a TCP Client (using socket class) In my scenario I have a TCP Client that is connected to a server (it is not controlled by me) and i want that from time to time to check the connection state, and reconnect if necessary.I have read a lot of information on the internet but i did not find a suitable solution.Briefly, these are the methods that i have found on the internet and try to implement. But unfortunatelly, i have found some scenarios where the TCP Server is closed and the TCP Client is still saying Connected 1.Example from MSDN
I want to store true or false value based on the state of check box here is my insert statement, the problem is this this insert statement stores 1 or 0 instead of 1 or 0 i want to store true or false how to achieve this. [code]
I am trying to make a timer, inside of a class, tick, by calling it from a backgroundworker. It never ticks (the Tick event is never raised), but the Timer shows as Enabled (with Interval set to 1).
Here is the simplified
Class1.vb vb.net Public Class Class1
[Code]....
If I move the code inside the Thread1_DoWork procedure into the Button1_Click procedure, the code works fine (by bypassing the backgroundworker). But, when it is called inside of the backgroundworker, it doesn't work at all.
In Vb.net 2005 how can i trap the checked/unchecked state of a datetimepicker through an event. I'm trying to execute two different methods based on the checked/unchecked state of a datetimepicker when the user clicks the datetimepicker. When the user checks the dtPicker Method A is executed, when the user unchecks it Method B is executed. How can i trap it.
I have a .dll file (Interop.ACTMULTILib.dll) that I use to connect to a PLC. This .dll contains a sub called ReadDeviceBlock2(byval devicename as string, byval size as integer, byref data as short). When I call this method in my main it works fine, if I call it from another method that was called by main it works as well. However, it doesn't work when I call it from my Timer_Elapsed sub? I guess this has to do something with threads but I can't figure it out.
Module Main Private Timer As New System.Timers.Timer Private PLC As New ACTMULTILib.ActEasyIF Private DataSet As new DataSet[code].....

I've got a program and what I need is for a Timer (running in a different thread) to constantly be checking a TextBox for an entry that is similar to:Quote"(PlayerName)" has joined the server.Where (PlayerName) would be replaced with the players name in the TextBox. What I would need the TextBox to do after it has found this entry is to add (PlayerName) to a listbox. If someone can help me out this far then I can use the same code to get it to remove the player when they leave.Below is a picture of what it should look like inside the program.
