Deleting First Half Of A Textfile?
Nov 15, 2011I have a textfile with timestamps and the amount of minutes my machine has run.
To keep the size of the file in check, I would like to delete the first half of the text file, once the textfile exceeds 1 MB... I have a check in place to determine the file size.
What is the best way to go about deleting the first half of my textfile log?
Do you recommend storing the second half in a temp file, and transfering it to the original log?
Is there a simple way to remove the first few lines of a textfile?

For this case, can i actually allow my script to search if a textfile is being created, if not create a textfile ???

Deleting Records From A LstBox And Dat File And Setting Reminders To Date In Dat File
Aug 2, 2010I am creating a program that allows a person to enter details about their farm, stock, and machinery in order to electronically keep track of all of the information. I have created the forms and done all the coding for the data entry, and now what I would like to do is allow the user to delete a single record from the .dat file. I am able to delete it from the LstBox (using a "Delete Entry" btn coded simply with
lstvehicles.Items.RemoveAt(lstvehicles.SelectedIndex)
(using the vehicles section for examples)), but I am unsure of how to delete it from the .dat file as well, to prevent it reloading upon data change / program reload. Also I would like to be able to have a reminder come up on the program start up that gives a reminder to (in the vehicles instance)when a vehicles rego is due, the date being associated to a date that is entered into the same lstbox data using a datetimepicker.

I made a form that when you put your CustomerID in Text3 Box.. it access the records and make some calculations. now.. The customer will return the car.. Then his data should be deleted.. I want to know how to make that when I enter the CustomerID and press on the Command button .. It copies the other lines to a new output folder and doesn't copy these ... So it appears to be deleted using this way..

Aug 24, 2009i know i have to use a loop to get each line of the textbox onto a newline of a textfile but i dont know how to figure out how many lines of text the user has entered into a textbox. I tryed using a try statment to loop until it errors, it seems to work sometimes but other times it only takes half of the textbox and adds it to the textfile. Apr 7, 2010I have an aspx page in VB that fills a pdf with data from a web form.I'm using iTextSharp for this and I have no problem with this.This is the second time I've created anything for pdf's and I'm using the code from the first script.The first script wrote the filled in pdf to a directory on the server where one person could access those via another aspx page. I wrote that code probably a year ago.Now, instead of having the filled in pdf sit on the sever, I have to email it, which I was successful at doing.The only issue left is to delete the filled in pdf from the directory.I tried to use file.delete(), but I got an error stating the the file was being used by another process.how to stop the process in order to be able to delete the file.[code]
