Jul 26, 2009I developed my application using vs2008 on a 32bit XP machine using ms access. My new machine is Vista 64bit using vs2008. Ms access has stopped working. It is looking for a 64bit software. Is there any? how do I work around this? will this hurt me when deploying to non 64bit machines?

Jun 16, 2010Label44.Text = Format(Convert.ToDouble(Label44.Text), to convert numbers in labels to the correct format. I had a bunch of friends test the software and the ones that were having problems were from Europe where , and . are placed different "i think". And when they run the program they get a error saying something about the todouble line (can't get exact error it was in french.)
Could they be experiencing the error because their windows are in a different language setting which has different place values for "," and "."? is there a way to fix this so everyone can use my program ?

Apr 18, 2012Am working a vb.net 2008 project using ms access database 2007 and i successfuly finished it. i published the project and burnt it with cd. my database path in vb.net was located c:Deploydatabase.accdb.
so i installed the program in to another 2 networking PCs. when i run them and put the database path c:Deploydatabase.accdb in every computer, its working. but the problem is that:
i need the database to be accessed by server or my machine for instance where every other networking computers are able to access my database in this location of my machine (my be as defualt) without not putting it to their pcs.
This enables me to see what every machines users can add information to the program.
for example, i have got 10 computers networked each other (i.e comp1, comp2, comp3, comp4, comp5, comp6, comp7, comp8, comp9, comp10). i have installed the program in every computers so when/if comp1 adds/edits informations to the program, then all other computers are capable of receiving this information which means comp4 can see what comp1 has entered in the program.

Jun 18, 2012I have a complete ms access system build(tables, forms, reports, query). I am in the process of using vb to re-create the system. I managed to show every fields on my vb forms without any coding. However I have some wrong information in my combo boxes. For example I will have repetition(duration, ie 3 months is showing 5 times). Also when I use the arrows only three records are showing. It says 104 records and only shows 1-3. I have also checked all the data in vb that has been transfered from access and it is all similar, ni repetition.

Feb 23, 2011I am a bit stuck with coding my save button and combobox.My entire form is ready, database is linked.All fields from DB are linked to their textboxes on the form.But i just ran into a big wall which i cant seem to break down.My save button, which is used to save the content from all the textboxes on the form to the access database refuses to work.The other this is, i want to use a combobox on my form to view the already saved entries in the access database.I think a combobox works for that, but i am not exactly sure how to pull that one off.

Oct 10, 2009I am planning to write a recipe storage program for personal use. I know what I want to do, but I am not perfectly clear on the most efficient way to do it. I am using SQL server 2005 and I am comfortable writing stored procedures. This is one of my first vb.net projects and I am still getting comfortable with ADO.net.What I want to do is create a form that can handle an list of ingredients of an unknown number.
The form will also accept a cooking procedure of an unknown number of steps. Each step will be written by the user into Rich Text boxes (vb 6 term?)I am planning to use combo boxes to select ingredients from a list or add new ingredients as needed. I also want to eliminate duplicates in the ingredients table of the sql 2005 db. I am looking for the most efficient method to save all the parts of a recipe to the database. saving a recipe will require dozens of database hits and therefore be unacceptably slow.

Feb 25, 2010I am looking for the best way to capture and validate US & international personal data. I have to use ASP.NET 2.0 (vb.net) and no 3rd party web services. This are all client restrictions.
The main point of this is I have to toss their data to FedEx for a shipping quote. I think FedEx has a address checker but that web service was not approved in the scope of the project and its too late to get it added.
My current solution is to just let the field be required and free form then before I save their profile check to see if FedEx will return a quote. If it fails then I will ask them to recheck their profile or contact the admin.
