I'm trying to create a combobox with lists of radio stations in it so when user selects lets say "rap" it will play rap radio station which I have put in the code ( I did something liek this for VB6 long time a go just wanted to knwo if any one can make this code work for VB2008 ) .
I am converting a VB6 program to VB express and am having a couple of problems. One of them is a difference in String use. "Result=string$(32,0)" doesn't compile and I tried the trim function, but when I cannot use the "0" with the trim function the program shuts down with the error "Argument 'Start' is not a valid value." I need to replace the "Result=string$(32,0)" with a valid vb express line.
Super newbie here and I recently signed up just to address my problem. Please help me convert or at least tell me what to do on the following code to my vb2008.I saw this listing on a website and I like its simplicity. It was written in vb6.
here's the snippet:Design the form. Create a Command Button named as Command1 and copy that and paste it 11 times. This will create a control array.Then assign the text naming it 0-9 plus (.)dot and they are under one control array. Likewise create cmdOperator control array for the operators Add, Subtract, Multiply and Divide. One button for equals and one for clear. All in all 17 buttons. 1 textbox serves as input and output.
Sorry if I'm in a rush here( I am already) but vb2008 its hard for me to learn control array. I have read a few post awhile here dealing with arrays in vb2008 but I'm overwhelmed with info and confusing for me to grasp the idea.
I created a windows form in VB 2010 and I am trying to view it in 2008, but I get the error message "The selected file is a solution file, but was created by a newer version of this application and cannot be opened".
Is there anyway I can re-save the 2010 project(similar to Microsoft word) in order to be able to open in older version?

I edited the development copy of a cherished program beyond restore by CTRL+Z, the original version which I want to recover is already published and it is in the c:/deploy folder but I dont know how to open such files for editing. How can I open this deployed program to edit and add some methods. I was cautious enough to save the program before editing but I was suprised that the original was over written by the edited copy.
Published VB program will not run on another computer yet works fine on the computer the program was written on. Message window during set-up on the other computer reads "Cannot download the application. The application is missing required files." The set-up file is being run from a flash drive.The entire error summary is included below. I am making a program for me and I told my friend about it and they said that they would like to test it. The only problem is that they don't have VB2008, and there seems to be no way to compile my program so that another person WITHOUT VB can use it. i am trying to use the sleep command in vb 2008 multiple times to constantly change back color but am told, Unable to load DLL 'Kernel 32': The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E). i tried it with another program and one sleep(1000) and it worked so is there a way to use this multiple times or any other command.ian hendry

I have built up an interface in VB2008 with many textboxs and labels on. When I click "New", I would like to clear all the textboxs and labels, i.e. each with a NULL value. Meanwhile, I also would like to clear all the arrays behind the program, i.e. the arrays which are not shown on the interface but is important for the calculation.The only way I could find out now is to clear the textboxs, labels and arrays one by one. So if there are 100 textboxs, 100 arrays, I have to write 200 lines in total. Obviously, it is not expected. Is there any other quick ways to directly reset everything to the beginning when the interface is just opened?

I'm trying to get a VB2008 multi thread application working that connects to a local server program using sockets. Server requests for this particular system can be more quickly handled by a number of connections, so I've written some code to run any number of data request threads that I choose. The problem that I'm having is that the data returned from the server is getting mixed up and is often returned to a different thread/socket than the one that requested it. Other than that, it seems to work okay. If I use just one thread, then the system works as it should. Pls. see incuded code, which is heavily edited to remove all the other fruit salad. Is there any way to set up the sockets so that data returned to the socket/thread that requested it?

I have a few questions reguarding converting a Access program to a sql/vb.net program. I know these are vague questions, so feel free to give vague answers.
NOTES: I have a solid unstranding of SQL and VB.net. i have little Access experience, but i would be working with the individual who created the access program. I also don't have alot of experience in converting on program from one language to another. Most of my experience is in new programing.
[Q1] Is their a general rule of thumb when converting/recodeing on how long it should take? i.e. if this project would take me 40 hours to write my self from scratch it would take me 30 hours to recode into another language?

I have developed some programs for processing and issue-coding electronic documents. I am teaching myself how to work with SQL Server because I want these programs to work with electronic documents imported into SQL Server as opposed to messing around in a folder stuck on the desktop, for example. From there I want to expand on the program so that it is a network enabled program.
I'm trying to convert a program from VB6 to DOT NET. In my original program I have a menu array which was simple to create.I simply named each menu element the same name and assigned each a different Index property.In DOT NET, there is no Index property and trying to create a second menu item with the same name generates an error. I have been unable to find any info that helps me transfer the functionality to DOT NET.
Can someone help with my struggle to make the leap to DOT NET?I'm also trying to convert use of the MSHFlexGrid in VB6 to the DataGridView tool in DOT NET and this is driving my to distraction.
