Published VB program will not run on another computer yet works fine on the computer the program was written on. Message window during set-up on the other computer reads "Cannot download the application. The application is missing required files." The set-up file is being run from a flash drive.The entire error summary is included below. A recurring line in the error message summary is "+Downloading file:///C:/Documents and Settings/username/Desktop/Application Files/filename_1_0_0_6/filename.exe.manifest did not succeed."The word "filename" is the name of my program. "username" is the computer's owner.Interestingly, the "manifest" file on my computer is kept in C:UsersusernameDesktopApplication Filesfilename_1_0_0_6filename.exe.manifest" I'm running Windows7; the other computer is running Windows XP.How do I get my program to run on another computer?

when publishing a program is it possible to get it to include or copy over a mdb file and can the setup be made into 1 setup file instead of the "Application Files Folder" and "Program name.application"
About publishing my program. there's a lot of files made after publishing unlike in vb6 when i converted it to exe file theres only one file. hmm how can i make just one exe file in vb9 is it possible? another question do i have to install the program after publishing?
As part of my VB2008 Express edition app there is a web page containing help info. This web page is accessed locally from the app using a form containg a Web Browser control. The page (e.g. "foobar.htm") contains approx 15 screenshots - and so there is a directory ("foobar_files") associated with the htm file.
I can successfully add the help page to my project and then after installation access it from the apps startup directory (or copy it to the user's My.Documents directory) but I'm at a loss as to how to include the associated "foobar_files" folder and it's contents - such that after installation the web pages images become viewable in the apps WebBrowser control.
I have also tried creating the page + images as a single file web page (i.e. foobar.mht) format - but the VB2008 WebBrowser control doesn't seem to handle this.
I know the express edition of Vb does not give a detailed publish but i want to ask something. I have made program that uses database (Sql), and also my program uses folders (Help, Pictures etc..) I tried to publish my program but the express edition does not have an option to add my folders. So i tried to publish with "inno setup" program. But this time my program does not work in computers which dont have "Sql Server 2008 express". I tried to put "Read me " file, that says "First setup Sql Server 2008 Express from internet then setup .Net Framework from internet then setup the program" but it is so hard for user to do those thing. Is there any way easier? (Does the computer must have Sql Server to work with my database?)
Publishing to CD using the ClickOnce method IS possible in VB 2008 Express. I've posed many questions in the past in my questions regarding "Distributing A Program on CD".I was getting error messages and my program would not instal on a 3rd party computer (My LapTop)
I followed all the instruction as laid out in the Help file and took note of all the advice I received in the forum but the programs wouldn't install on my LapTop.I bought a book entitled "Build A Program Now Microsoft VisualBasic 2008 Express Edition" by Patrice Pelland.
In Chapter nine in goes through the procedure of publishing with the ClickOnce method. The one thing that the book said which was not included in the Help file was that the option "Build (Program)" in the Build menu had to be selected.I then went through all the other options as were discussed in my threads "Distributing a Program on CD".
Success! I published two programs, "MasterMind" and "HangMan" (Simple enough programs for a beginner to VB Express)I then burnt the two folders created during the publish porcedure to a CD, loaded the CD onto my LapTop and double clicked on "Setup" on the "Mastermind" program. Total success! The program installed without a hitch and runs without fault.
I then selcted to instal "HangMan" and bombed out with the error message that stated I need to instal "Microsoft.Visual Basic.PowerPacks.Vs" in the Global Assembly Cache (GAC) first."
Is there any advantage to using the VB2010 express version versus the VB2008 express version? Can they be installed side by side or will VB2010 express replace VB2008? I have no issues with the 2008 version, so I don't know if installing the 2010 version would be of any advantage.

I am working on a project that will interface with a standalone device to monitor some switches etc. When certaing conditions are met, I need to send a text message to a mobile phone using a mobile phone as the modem. The standalone system is all working but I have been unable to fine solutions for sending a simple text message as an alarm etc. Most of the solutions I have found are extensive and complicated. I simply want to call a cell phone and deliver a short text message. The system does not have to receive messages at this time.
I'm trying to build a chart in a windows form using Visual Studio 2008 Express, I've found a couple of tutorials but they say to add a component I don't seem to have... is this a limitation with the express edition?
I`m trying to write a programme ,in VB2008 Express, to receive Serial Port Ascii data ( from a Multimeter) and display it as Hex Data in a textbox. I can get the Ascii data to show, but just cannot convert it into Hex. Once I can do this I want to write a new front end for the Mulimeter software.

I have been using the VB2008 express edition following Bob Tabors's 18 course lesson in VB 'snapshot 5'. I was starting lesson 14 on the RSS reader. This lesson adds the .mdf for the first tome. The .mdf file was unable to be opened due to some message about code 603?. The final requst is that the database be recreated. What would you suggest. I am converting a VB6 program to VB express and am having a couple of problems. One of them is a difference in String use. "Result=string$(32,0)" doesn't compile and I tried the trim function, but when I cannot use the "0" with the trim function the program shuts down with the error "Argument 'Start' is not a valid value." I need to replace the "Result=string$(32,0)" with a valid vb express line.

I created a windows form in VB 2010 and I am trying to view it in 2008, but I get the error message "The selected file is a solution file, but was created by a newer version of this application and cannot be opened".

I have 16 student machines who can not access the windows live login during the school hours due to filtering restrictions. They need to register Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition within 30 days or the product becomes useless. The registration process wants them to login to access the keys. If my understanding is correct, Win 2000 only supports .NET 2.0 Framework. I am using VB2008 Express to write an app that I would like to install but I believe VB2008 Express utilizes the .NET 3.5 Framework.

i get a HRESULT 0x80131047 exception in Microsoft Visual Basic 2008 express when debug my application. this happens whenever i click "start debugging" and it doesn't matter what application i load. this is a brand new vista x64 bit machine with a fresh install of VB2008 express.
