Get Control Of Opened Powerpoint Slides To Perform Search?
Jun 22, 2010I'm currently doing a program to search for text in powerpoint files using interop in vb.net 2005. When a user does a search, it will open the powerpoint (.ppt) file and do the search. This is working fine.What I want to achieve next is if the powerpoint file is already opened, I want the program to search for text in the opened powerpoint file (without opening the file again in ReadOnly mode).How can I do that..? I mean, I need to first search the list of opened program to see if the powerpoint file is opened and then i need to somehow cause my program to gain control of the opened powerpoint file before I can do a search right..? How can I do that..?

Jul 17, 2009I am in the process of writing a program that takes a .xls file of raw data, runs some calculations on the data, and then creates appropriate tables and charts. It then copies the charts into a PowerPoint presentation, formats each slide correctly with all the necessary information and saves the presentation with a new file name. That part alone works fine and takes about 12 seconds for the whole process (its roughly a 12 slide presentation).

In the program below, when the form is loading, it will open 2 powerpoint files (Test1.ppt and Test2.ppt). After Test2.ppt is opened, it will be the activepresentation because it is opened last.What I am trying to do is when I press button1, it will set Test1.ppt as activepresentation so that when I press button4, it will show me "C:Test1.ppt".The same also goes to button2 making Test2.ppt as activepresentation..But what I get is, no matter how many times i press button1, Test2.ppt is always the activepresentation.[code]

May 11, 2011I'm trying to copy a Range from Excel and Paste the information in powerpoint in either the HTML or the default format, however, I am having some difficulties. I am able to get the code to work for pasting the Range as an OLE Object but nothing else. The problem with doing this is that having the embedded excel documents in the powerpoint makes the file extremely large and unstable. I just need to be able to paste the information without the embedded information where it is editable (so, not as a bitmap or picture).

Power Point Slides Or Splash Screens In Form?
Apr 1, 2011I have some apppliction....interface is good but its not that advance in visual style...so i manage to implement power point slide in web browser (webbrowser.navigate "pps "to twick the look of the program...but when im changing the tabs or opening other windows and then go back to tab where is pps it wont refresh properly.(web browser spec. fill)And i got flickering when im changing tabs or pages.
1.Is it because i have slow comp?
2.Or it have another way (faster) to implement power point slides in application instead of the web browser?
3.Or in general the visual basic is a poor program(when u talking about visual stile) that have some limitations and works very slow when u implementing some visual staff?

In one thread I'll be adding items to List1(Of Object1), and processing them, and adding the results to List2(Of Object2), however I need to be able from other threads to look at the list and say only give me the items where Integer = (my thread ID), is this possible? Dec 29, 2010If I have a large number of classes, each similar to the other in certain aspects (they all share a common base class, but each does things differently), and I need to create Windows forms for each to allow easy changing of their values through a GUI? Create one matching form for each object in VS' forms designer, Or Use code to create the forms dynamically at runtime.
#2 makes the most sense to me, because a lot of these objects will share very common features of the form, notably "Ok" and "Cancel" buttons. But one object might need to draw a textbox on the form while another might need to draw a combobox. Not to mention, if I want to put icons on the "Ok" and "Cancel" buttons, I'd have to do this for each copy of the form in designer, and that sounds like it could get out of hand quickly.But is drawing forms through code sane? VS' forms designer is pretty sophisticated and designed to make life easier. Am I wise to consider ignoring its functionality and diving into the trench warfare of forms design through code? Or are there examples of automating form creation based on an existing object's properties?

The objects will have several types (String, Integer) associated with them. Currently I am forming a Collection as I instantiate new objects.Is there a prefered to map this collection to, say, a Datagridview? Will I have to Iterate through the collection and add the rows at each iteration?Would I be better served using an ArrayList or something else over a Collection?

I want to builda front end that storesprocessing infofor each watchfolder. The program would then read the configs and build the threads based on them. I have a factory method to dynamically create and return an object of a type based on input from elsewhere. The provided input is meant to be the class name from which to create an object from. Normal syntax means that the entire class has to be explicitly spelled out. To do it this way, there could literally be hundreds of if/then's or cases to handle all the available class/object choices within the referenced libs:

Apr 23, 2012I am trying to maintain a total for multiple collection objects in a class. When I create a new object, it resets the total to zero, only adding the current value being passed to the function. I have tried to use a static variable, create a second variable to hold the old total while adding the new value. The base class holds the total value, while the sub class creates the new object that holds information. I am passing the new value to a function in the base class adding the new value to the total when each new record is created.
