Creating A Connection String For MS Access In VB2005?
Jan 26, 2009
I have created an ACCESS database and I am trying to connect to it, i have gone into the ODBC and created a User DSN, I am using VB2005. When I try to connect to the database using my connection string, I get the fllowing error message: {"Keyword not supported: 'dsn'."}Here is my connection string:
Dim testsearch_connection As New SqlClient.SqlConnection("Dsn=MS Access Database;dbq=C:CesarAccessdatabase.mdb;driverid=25;fil=MS Access;maxbuffersize=2048;pagetimeout=5;uid=admin")
I am creating a VB windows form applications , the working can be summarized as users fills some form and data is saved in sql server database. Now the problem i am facing is that i have to deliver this as a setup file to someone, and that person will further distribute it to different users to run on their PC, what i am thinking is that the code once installed on other computers and executed will give errors because of the connection string of sql server db as it will not match with that computer . I know that if a distribute projects i can put connection string in app.config and every user can change it according to his/her machine .But as i am giving a setup file how to solve this problem
I am creating a desktop application in vb.net by using visual studio 2008 and using ms sql 2008 as back end for my database. As I am creating application on my own system I know my connection string and I have created database manually on my system.
What I want is, when user install application on its system, the database created dynamically at that time on his system and he must enter server name, username and password for ms sql server that application should store for future use.If not at installation, it should atleast check and create database, everytime the user open the application.
i have the connection string cn = New OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.Ace.OLEDB.12.0; Persist Security Info = False;" & _ "Data Source=C:printtest2.accdb;")which works fine but my database is in the server in a network what additional details do i need for the connection string The server name is as follows "Prntsvr-Test.auhbr.ctrixa.ad"how do i use the connection string
My Ms-Access .mdb file is on my website. It is in the App_Data Folder
The current connection string is:
OleDbDataAdapter Da = new OleDbDataAdapter("Select * from SerialNo", new OleDbConnection(@"provider=microsoft.jet.oledb.4.0; data source=ftp://ftp.WebsiteName.com/App_Data/SerialNo.mdb"));
Where am I making a mistake in above connection string?
Note: CRs added in the code for better readability
My query is not the straightforward connection to MS Access.I am using a third application that places all data in an Access database BUT recently they changed the database so that it doesn't end in '.mdb', instead in another suffix: '.accdb'.The database is still an Access database but I cannot connect to it using the connection strings:[code]Previously I was able to use the second connection when the database name ended in '.mdb' (Database Name.mdb).
I will be developing a program using visual studio 2008 with ms access 2007 as my database. What I only use is this type of connection string: "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=C:mydatabase.mdb;Jet OLEDB:System Database=system.mdw;" but i was asked if it is possible to put the database in sharepoint and I haven't even tried it before. The case is like this, the program that i will do would be installed on some computer units of different branches of the company then the database should be accessible through sharepoint so that every users can access the most updated database.
I am getting the error "The 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0' provider is not registered on the local machine." in the connection string when opening a connection to an Access database.
I am developing a winform application which targets .NET Framework 4. I would like to get the connection string from the app.conf file but the Imports System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager fails. I can do a Imports System.Configuration but I cannot get to the .ConfigurationManager.
I am newbie in Visual studion 2010. May i know how do i setup the connection for a mdb file. Below is my code and i have encountered an error. the error message is "A first chance exception of type '[URL]' occurred in WindowsApplication1.exe".
How do I assign a My.Settings.Item connection string to cmd.Connection connection string value?
Dim cmd As New SqlCommand() cmd.Connection = My.Settings.Item("csStaffHoursWorked") cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure cmd.CommandText = "spSaveDeltekImport"
I want to ask that where to store connection string in VB.Net.AS in ASP.net we can store connection string in web.config file and access it in the foll. way [code]In VB.net where to store conn. string on form_Load or any other place???
I've set up a test database to begin unit-testing an app that I've recently been added to. It is a 3-tier design (presentation layer, BOL and DAL) and this is my first time writing unit tests. I've decided to start at the BOL and I figure the best way is to swap out the ConnectionString (which has been passed along as a Shared String) with one that points to my new test database. However, I don't wish to change any production code. I simply wish to somehow redirect the app to the test database during unit tests.
I got this Error Message while I try to preview the records in Dataset Designer:"The connection string could not be found or Data provider associated with the connection string could not be loaded"
I'm trying to import all data from an Access DB using Visual Basic 2005. I'm new to Access and so far I can only import one record at a time. Here is the code I have so far
Private Sub BtnLoad_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles xLoadButton.Click Dim con As New OleDb.OleDbConnection
I'm being forced to write VB code to be used from within ACCESS 2007.My desire is to use a leftover copy of Visual Studio 2005 to write a system that will use ACCESS 2007 as the db. The problem is that the company will no longer support Visual Studio and .Net development. That means that whatever code.I write must be accessible from within ACCESS 2007 for future maintenance. How do I import externally generated VB code (including forms) into ACCESS 2007, so that I can use ACCESS to maintain the code?I'll post this question to the ACCESS forum also, and hope that someone can save me from having to do all my development within ACCESS.
I want to build a console app, that when ran, takes a report from one Access 2000 database and copies it over to another Access 2000 database and overwrites the existing report in the destination database. I cannot figure out how to do this in code. I have imported the Access 9.0 Object library, but still struggling.
Below is the section I'm having trouble with at the moment:
Friend Sub glbHooks_KeyPress(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As KeyPressEventArgs) Handles glbHooks.KeyPress newStr = newStr & LCase(e.KeyChar)
[Code]....
Neither of these worked, though the 2nd one would clean up my code a bit. Unfortunately I'm getting an "Expression expected" error on that "newStr = If..." line. I know there's supposed to be a "Then" somewhere along it but I don't know where it's supposed to be and the poster hasn't gotten back to me on that yet.
i have encountered this error Variable 'dsNewRow' is used before it has been assigned a value. A null reference exception could result at runtime when i click on the button to insert data into my ms access database.
My pc is a Vista SP1 + VS2008 I try to import a csv file into an existing access database with the following code but I have the message that the database is only in read access and I can't update it with the csv file.I tested the code on an other pc with XP and VS2005 and it works.
I understand the possibilities for encrypting a connection string in .net v4. I have a win forms application that will be used by multiple people on different machines. I understand that I need to protect the connection string at time of the app being first run on the target machine. However I am concerned that for a period of time my connection string will be unencrypted. I am looking for advice in how to deploy my app with the connection string already encrypted or encrypted during installation. encrypting the connection string in a secure way?
I'm developing an app in vb.net (visual studio 2008). I have a Teradata back-end that will be supporting multiple users in a production environment. I need to use variables in the connection string as the user/pass will be changed every 3 months.
For the gist of the application:
In it's most basic form - I have a search form which works correctly - it pulls results into a listbox and the user then double clicks the list box which will then open a form that is bound via table adapter to the back-end table (Teradata). My connection string is fine everywhere in the application. My problem is using a modified connection string for the "fill" function of the table adapter once the form is opened.
I'm using the code below for the on-load event and keep getting an "invalid connection string" - again, the connection string works fine everywhere else in the app, and the variables etc... are working correctly.
Private Sub adaptertest_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Dim DBConnStr As String = "Provider=TDOLEDB;Data Source=TDDEV;Persist Security
I'm facing a problem after installation any software setup that has a database in access(mdb file) How to I transfer file path in our connection string.
I am trying to connect DSN from my VB 2008 project. When i try using myoledb.connectionstring="DSN=myDNSname" I get the following error message An OLEDB provider was not specified in the connectionstring.
